Hi,

We at www.AdmitPitch.com, a full spectrum MBA admission consultants, help you through all the application stages. Here are some broad insights about MBA admissions, including that of ISB.

· Admissions committee always looks at the application in a holistic manner. Stand-alone GMAT or GPA alone will not be criteria for admission or rejection in top B-schools. However a bad score would definitely eliminate your chances. A score of 700 is decent to apply for an ISB course.

· There are other aspects of the profile - work experience, essays, recommendations, extracurricular, etc. - that influence the chances of admission. Present them well.

· Work Experience:  More than the geography of work/training, the profile, duration, and successes matter. Overseas experience can be an added boost if you have worked for at least 3 years at a responsible position, backed by marked and measurable achievements. In your application, highlight your leadership and team-skills in attaining the organizational objective. Your professional profile should be compelling and should demonstrate the wide responsibilities you were handling, using your logical and analytical managerial competence.

· Academic: In case you have stellar academic scores, they can considerably leverage your score of 700. Again, do not forget to mention the various awards and recognitions you would have bagged all along.

· A professional help would help you to pitch the other key positive elements of the profile. For free assessment of your profile, do reach to us at: http://www.admitpitch.com/services/free-consulting

Yes, international exposure is helpful. But you should be able to talk about what it adds to your personality.

Hi @arup3dec! Anything that makes your experience rich adds to your chances of making it to a B-school - it may be international exposure, or just good exposure across India. Specifically for ISB, international exposure isn't such a big factor - but certainly a plus.

All the Best!

It would be a plus but that alone would not really enhance your chances. It is also not important that you have international exposure if a rich exposure on home ground can be clearly and cleverly demonstrated. What would be your role, experience and which industry are you in? All these would matter and the academic records as well

@Tanytan - we worked with someone last year who had a similar GMAT score and 2.5 years work experience, and she was offered a scholarship of 5L. So if your work related experiences in your short career history are good and you present them well, then, the your path is cut out for you.

We have offered essay evaluation to applicants on this thread- if you are interested I can look at one of your essays and give you feedback

Hi, I have been scanning colleges(US and Indian) accepting GMAT for admissions for around a year now and so far I have not come across any that explicitly states that students with a Year gap in education are not eligible, so yes i think you may very well consider gmat as an option. With regard to the material i wont be limited to 1 good book, scan forums to see what are the different study options available, choose accordingly.

A regular stream of PMs to me have been from people asking which schools to target based on their GMAT.

While there is a lot more to the applications than just the GMAT score ... Here is a mash up of the top US schools and their expectation with regards to a min GMAT score from an Indian candidate.

This data has been collected over email or webinars by my interns through the months of June and July 2014.

This is not the Avg GMAT of the school but what the school's official correspondent has given as an answer to a specific question regarding the particular school's expectation with regards to applicants from India.

You may take your pick according to your GMAT.

yes, the date is fine, but you will have a lot on your plate soon after the test - ISB deadline is 30th November, so you will immediately have to build that application. GLIM to my knowledge is in Jan, so you can work upon that later.

As you are keen to apply outside India, you should start building your list for the b-schools where you will apply, so that you don't miss out on any achievable deadlines.

We have a list of deadlines for US b-schools on our blog, and are continuously updating it with more details, so do check it out.

Nov 14 means you will have 2 weeks to work on your application for ISB. So you will have to build elements of your essay a little by little even before Nov 14. This will put you in relatively easier ground. Once you have your GMAT, you can work on your essays as you will already have the collated information and would need to just structure your essays. Suggest you also look at other B Schools.especially in US, Canada and UK.

If you think you can obtain a good GMAT score in the next couple months, then you could advance your GMAT by a month (i.e. take it Oct 15 or thereabouts).  That will give you enough time for the applications.

For an MBA you need to have minimum of 24 months of work experience. For an MiM you can apply with less than 2 years of experience.  Doing an MBA Vs MiM should be about career goals and not about the years of experience.
