A regular stream of PMs to me have been from people asking which schools to target based on their GMAT.

While there is a lot more to the applications than just the GMAT score ... Here is a mash up of the top US schools and their expectation with regards to a min GMAT score from an Indian candidate.

This data has been collected over email or webinars by my interns through the months of June and July 2014.

This is not the Avg GMAT of the school but what the school's official correspondent has given as an answer to a specific question regarding the particular school's expectation with regards to applicants from India.

You may take your pick according to your GMAT.

yes, the date is fine, but you will have a lot on your plate soon after the test - ISB deadline is 30th November, so you will immediately have to build that application. GLIM to my knowledge is in Jan, so you can work upon that later.

As you are keen to apply outside India, you should start building your list for the b-schools where you will apply, so that you don't miss out on any achievable deadlines.

We have a list of deadlines for US b-schools on our blog, and are continuously updating it with more details, so do check it out.

Nov 14 means you will have 2 weeks to work on your application for ISB. So you will have to build elements of your essay a little by little even before Nov 14. This will put you in relatively easier ground. Once you have your GMAT, you can work on your essays as you will already have the collated information and would need to just structure your essays. Suggest you also look at other B Schools.especially in US, Canada and UK.

If you think you can obtain a good GMAT score in the next couple months, then you could advance your GMAT by a month (i.e. take it Oct 15 or thereabouts).  That will give you enough time for the applications.

For an MBA you need to have minimum of 24 months of work experience. For an MiM you can apply with less than 2 years of experience.  Doing an MBA Vs MiM should be about career goals and not about the years of experience.

@gaurav21 it will be challenging to submit multiple applications all together in October. Either you start working on your applications now in tandem with GMAT prep or do only 1-2 schools in R1 and slide the rest to R2. Good Luck!

Hi @gaurav21! Taking GMAT in October means you may have to apply in R2 of several of the B-schools, which is completely alright since there is no point applying with a low GMAT in R1 anyway.

All the Best!

Gaurav, Many US b-schools have their R1 in November, so even if you take GMAT by October you will still have time to apply. For the other b-schools whose deadline you miss in October, you can still apply there in R2.

Do note however, that you will have to follow a rigorous schedule- stick to your time lines. OND and Jan fly really fast for MBA aspirants, much unlike that for the non-MBA variety, so hardwork and punctuality will be the mantra to success.

Hi, my query is related to how important are academic scores in applying for an executive 1 year program. I have a work ex of 5+ yrs in Finance & Accounts with an US based EPCM Co. I have been an average student throughout & my scores were pretty low in 10th and B.com (Hons) Graduation. I don't have any significant achievement in extra curricular activity either.

Please suggest if I can get a good B-school, if I score around 680 + in GMAT.

If yes, then please suggest some good B-schools where my profile would be accepted.

Thanks

In need of some help here! Bear with the long wall of text.

I finished my BE in Civil in 2012 with an aggregate of 80%. Since then I have dipped my toes into the world of Aviation and tried getting a job as a pilot. Needless to say that did not work out too well and now I would like to get my MBA from abroad from a sufficiently respectable university. Am i right in thinking i would not be accepted in the top universities since i neither have the requisite work experience nor do i have a good enough reason to explain this gap since my engg degree?

Is pursuing an MBA a completely lost cause now? If not, then are there any specific coaching centers that would help me get there? I'd appreciate any help.
