I have a dumb question
See in some of the colleges, there is rule that if a student gets placed in a company, he can not sit in any other company's interview except the star companies' interviews.
But you just mentioned that many companies go empty handed. So I think we can sit in as many interviews as we want to even if we get placed.
With introduction of CPC, companies who come for PM will also fulfuill their marketing & finance personnel demand. Because of CPC, XISS name will matter more instead of courses. It is quite obvious that all companies have different type of openings, So companies who earlier came for PM will also come for Marketing, Finance, IM. @Sreeshivam: therefore, I think course will not matter much in future. This is my analysis.
If a student is hardworking, he will get placed no matter how is the faculty.
Redvitriol mentioned in one of his earlier posts that quality of teaching is average in XISS (read the quoted posted below). Even the teaching of PM is average. It's just students have positive regards towards PM and that's why PM attracts brightest students and others courses unable to attract those bright students. Bright and hardworking students obviously get placed easily. Earlier when there was no CPC, the brighter students in PM used to attract big companies and even the average students of PM got nice placements. But because of CPC, all bright students of all courses get equal chance. (again my analysis). (My friend's friend was an average student, but she got placement of 6lac after doing PM from XISS).
But i have a question, min2rit mentioned that companies go empty handed because of the quality of students college offers. If companies do not get the quality they are looking for, so why they visit the college. Why they waste their resources just to disappoint themselves???
Good 1, Raghav, i sensed it was coming

..
First thing first, you can not sit in any company if you are placed, period.
The college strictly sticks to this policy.

As of CPC, look, i had already mentioned that certain companies are too loyal to XISS, XISS-PM alumni base is too strong & people are all around the nation at very high position, currently. So, CPC or no CPC, companies were coming for PM earlier as well. But, with the set-up of CPC, a few newer companies have been added to the list for PM as well. The interesting/not so interesting

point is that companies coming for PM does not show any interest for students of other stream.
About the quality of students on offer-- Look a few seats are filled through backdoor, so that deteriorates the quality of the batch. Hence, once the cream of the batch is out, the remaining companies lined up has to choose from the left-over, if i can say.:lookround:
What should be noted here is that, had the college filled every seat through merit, the scene here would have been completely different.
One more reason why companies pick XISS students or rather they are loyal apart from the reason that we have a rich alumni base is this-
The course of XISS lays strong stress on Labour laws, which serve as the indispensable requisite for any HR professional. In fact, this is what differentiate XISS. So, companies coming here, banks atleast on this that the students have their labour laws as their strong point. Which, if found, the student is selected, i guess.
Also, any company coming here is aware that the they can get young managers by offering approximately 60% of what they would have offered at other top-notch colleges.
Hope i have answered/cleared your doubt...
All the best....
