can we pay by debit card

Hi..i write this post because i was a li'l anxious about my application status. I had registered for XAT,XLRI and XIMB on the same date.After filling up all the details and paying the fees (1700/- for XAT and XLRI in axis bank) and 1000/- for XIMB in an SBI branch, i sent all the application forms on the same date via courier to their respective admissions office.

But whats puzzling me is while i have received prompt responses from the XAT and XLRI offices about receipt of my admission forms, i have received no such intimation from the XIMB office. moreover, i also ensured that these parcels were delivered to bhubaneshwar by checking their status on the DTDC website. On their website, they've said that they would send us an email if they receive it from our end. Ive written to them twice now and they still havent replied back.Grrrr

Has anyone else sent their 1000/- counter foil with the payment advice form and received a confirmation? Would be grateful if anyone could answer me because it would give me an idea as to the status of my application...

Had the admissions office received your application form, you would have got the notification as of now. Now, if you have not received any notification or status update--that could possibly be because of the following two reasons--
Firstly,XIMB admission office is still not in receipt of your application.
Secondly, XIMB admission office has delayed the notification.

For the second reason, you need to tell us the exact date of when did you send the application, your details etc., so we can check with the admissions office to ensure you the prompt response.

however for two years the last dead has been extending it always goes after irma's result
so there u can apply according to your score either irma or xat

NO, it is not manadatory for you to take XAT, but you have to apply to XIMB RM programe separately and mark the option of which score you want to consider--IRMA or XAT. Some cutoffs are here-

Every program goes through it's nascent stage, which RM in case of XIMB has gone through.
Now, it has created it's own identity, the placements have been rising with each passing year.
We are a force to reckon with and with each passing year, the quality of student intake has been rising.
This year we have 1/3rd engineers in our batch.
That should give you an idea that RM at XIMB is second best in the country after IRMA which is a thirty year old programme whereas RM at XIMB is a 10 year old programme, but has grown leaps and bounds in these 10 years

The essay written by you on the given topic would be there with the panel. Whether the essay is taken into consideration while giving out interview calls is a bit of a dicey affair.

But when you are doing preparation for a XAT exam, grammer mistakes are not expected of you, and why to take a risk when a clear view is not available

Finally what is important is to keep in mind wat u had written in the XAT essay, as the interview panel may ask a few questions based on it and try to carry forward your answers to build further questions.

in xat entrance essay only comes in picture when the panel asks for explanation of one's stance not any other way ....is this true

coz i have seen the same in other xat's collge's forums too

Trivial grammar mistakes will certainly be not taken into consideration.
It's only in your interview that the panel may ask for your views or counterviews on the essay.
But if the grammatical errors creep in more than expected, then certainly the interview panel would take notice.

Essay is generally not considered for giving out calls for the next round of selection process i.e. Gd and personal interviews, but you need to keep this in mind that you can be asked to explain the stance you have taken in your essay--perhaps thats an opportunity for you to cement your position.
Just like Xlri, XIMB's interview panel will be in the possession of your essays, so you better be prepare for it. It happened last year, and in all probabilities that is expected to continue this season as well.
the only way to write a good/decent essay is the consistent good reading, structured presentation of your thoughts and ideas and no grammatical errors!:thumbsup:

Work ex and other such related criteria will come only into picture after your first hurdle of XAT is covered. In my personal opinion, concentrate in XAT preparation now only, if that falls into place high probability that everything will fall into place.
Still, there is no such extra points for a particular sector; and as far as the present batch goes there is a lot of diversity both in terms of sector and work experience which furthermore negates the point that something abt sector or company plays a role in selection.

No particular kinda work-ex is given additional weightage...
If u have work-ex, all they expect is that you should know your job profile and the work that you did thoroughly...
Even if you do not have work-ex, it is perfectly fine as long as you perform well in the XAT n GD/PIs...

For getting into XIMB you first need to crack the XAT.
The academic score and performance shall be taken care of during the overall grading/rank in which marks of your xat%ile , GD PI process and your past academic record/work exp. will be included. So, yes, your marks in academics do form a part of overall evaluation but thats not the only parameter for evaluation.
There are many people here who have average academic records but they set it off by scoring high on other parameters.

the notification for admission of XIMB is out.XIMB is among the top management institute of india.As last year this year too XIMB is taking admission through XAT for its PGDM( general management) and PGDM RM(rural management programme).
ELIGIBILITY:
Minimum three-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, from a recognised University. Final year degree students, who expect to complete their final examinations and other requirements for obtaining the degree by June 15, 2010, may also apply.

Admissions Test (XAT):
Register and appear for XAT to be held on January 3, 2010. XIMB does not conduct a separate admission test, but uses XAT-2010 scores for short-listing its applicants for admission interview. XLRI has no role either in the final selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

one has to fill XIMB form separately costing 1000 for each programme

SELECTION PROCESS:
Candidates short-listed on the basis of XAT scores will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview, which will be held at Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai. Candidates will have to meet their own travel expenses. The final selection will be based on the candidate's performance in the XAT, Group Discussion and Personal Interview, and will take into account the past academic record and relevant work experience.

The weightage given to GD & PI are 50% upto this year.
