I have got selected for this B-School & after extensive research, I have decided to join it

I visited the campus personally, spoke to the students of Kolkata,Ahmedabad,Mumbai & Hyderabad on Phone as well as internet, Also spoke to education counselors from Pune & Goa.

United world Group also has a very big corporate background and have been involved in huge business in south east Asia. So its not one of those B-Schools who will pump in beginning & slow down later coz their entire structure is Robust right from the top level.

Their head structure also have a primary school in mumbai where the fees is in lakhs. They are the biggest partners of Procter & Gamble too. Board of directors and founders have been associated with some big industry names with decades of industrial experiences

Also this is not of the typical B-Schools where u will find typical PhDs in faculty unlike other B-Schools.You dont need those PhDs to tell you what an MBA requires in terms of Industry requirements.The faculty are from IIMs and XLRI's and have worked in the core industries with none of the faculty below 5 years of experience. They are brilliant and also matured.

This B-School knows exactly the areas to strike to distinguish itself from other B-schools and I believe that once this participates in rankings, its not far from the day it will be counted among premier institutes. And most importantly, its selecting Quality students for their admissions. So its neither easy for just anyone to get into it

Firstly, I am an MBA aspirant and had been looking out for extensive research for my choice of Institute from the Internet, existing students & people in the education business.

So here is what i have to share with you from what i have come to know

Referring to all the fuss surrounded besides AICTE approval, i have taken all the necessary information and why do most of the people suggest to go for B schools having this approval

Q.no.1 : Is AICTE approval practically matters to credibility of student?
Answer: AICTE approval doesnt practically matter more than the Quality of the Institution

Q.no.2: If AICTE is not important, then why do many people, forums stress it?
Answer: This is because there are many institutes wherein Quality education is not provided & many have deficient infrastructure, Irregular & low profile faculty. AICTE norms are made to satisfy certain standard cutoff level in terms of the above factors. So reserach extensively about the B-School you are thinking of to know wether its above the standards of AICTE norms or not.As simple as that :)

Q.no3. Affiliation to any University in terms of distance education by private institutes are a factor of insecurity?
Answer: Affiliation is for the purpose that if you want any future education or govt sector job, then its possible to have that. But for the private sector jobs, a survey from careers 360 & business world have shown the results that 64% of recruiters dont think that PGPMs should be affilliated or approved. All that matters to them is the Image of B School in terms of the quality students for their industry

So friends, my message to you is

" TO AN INSTITUTION WHICH HAS THE BEST OF INFRASTUCTURE, EXCELLANT FACULTY, BRILLIANT INDUSTRY INTERFACE, ABSOLUTE QUALITY MENTORS & RELIABLE PLACEMENTS, AICTE APPROVAL IS NOT REQUIRED TO GIVE ANY TESTIMONY FOR THAT "

Finally my testimony about United world :

This has one of the best faculty lineups, i visited the Hyderabad campus and the infrastructure is excellent, the dean is a great person . Their industry interface is mind blowing with already all the students selected for the SIPs and the Mumbai campus having excellant placements so far and still going on.

Final statement :

This college doesnt need AICTE approval to testify its Quality

This is what we want....let the aspirants do their own study n research...n by research I mean quality research....n then decide....I agree to the research done by you.....
UWSB is the best upcoming Bschool in the country... Superb corporate exposure.... No words for the faculty...they r simply awesome....

Message to the aspirants: Do ur quality research....keep urself updated... n plz do visit any of the UWSB campuses n have a few words with the students there.... there r thousands of B schools that have come up but u need to identify the best.....

as far as i know the intake capacity is 80 for this academic year at Hyderabad campus and yes, u can go for this Bschool..we cannot compare this with ISB or IIMs now but Unitedworld is one of the best upcoming B-schools in India.

That's a very misleading statement. IIMs' lack of AICTE certification isn't the same as your lack of AICTE certification. They have government recognition, while you have absolutely none. And if you consider the PTU degree as recognition, it makes you nothing more than a mere study center of a distance learning program. As for "knowledge and learning are the main thing, we don't feel aicte is important", now from which ponytailed person have I heard that before.


Thanks for the clarification. These limitations of your degree not clearly given on your website and hence is misleading for aspirants. But now that you've answered it, at least the aspirants here will have full knowledge before they take a decision.

Be practical... no one is going to see whether u have aicte approval or not except the PSUs....hence it is just a myth... just try to imagine once, the huge number of colleges those r aicte approved and their performance level n the profile of their students..... hence donot misguide people....let them know the reality....
frnz the only thing that matters in the coporate world is ur knowledge and performance.....so dnt b worried abt aicte n all....if at all any doubt do speak to the MBA coaching institutes.....n if possible do speak to the Corporate People about aicte......kindly take suggesions from relevant and appropiate people....1st try to understand what is the meaning of aicte approval....

Yes, the MBA degree will be a distance mode MBA degree from Punjab Technical University. U may opt not to ake that option. Many of us have not taken the option. After all, what do we do with an MBA degree, as we dont really have plans to get into Public sector Units. If at all I was targeting Govt., I wud have gone for my UPSC exams instead. It has no value to ur learning. If at all, anyone is bothered about a certification, why think of an MBA? U can do a proper MA programme from some state board.

Dear Manisha...there is no Hostel facility at Hyderabad for now but they might add it for 2011-2013 batch.

there is no hostel facilities....but u will be given assistance regarding accomodation by the collg.... accomodation will not b a prob at all.... n abt the placements......they are fully on.....will update abt it vry soon..... but let me tell u all one thing that despite being the 1st batch of UWSB...the placements are goin on very well.... u can visit the website too....

The PTU will obviously b a distance degree..... but its just an additional degree....the main degree is the autonomous degree given by UWSB i.e. PGPM degree......

The students will be given PGPM degree which is an autonomous degree frm UWSB..... and if u want u can opt for the MBA degree which is given by Punjab Technical University(PTU).....

I was my college's topper from University of Calcutta with 70.75% marks in grduation in BSc.I had secured 74.99%ile in CAT and 96.6%ile in Dec MAT.

I took admission to UWSB-Kolkata yesterday and here are the reasons why:

1. Faculty at UWSB comes from the ivy league colleges across the world.I personally met a couple of faculty members and I was pleased with that experience.
2. The infrastructure is pretty good for a reputed B-School like UWSB
3. I met some HR professionals from Ma-foi randstad(a leading HR company),Timesjob.com and others who told me a PGPM+MBA degree from UWSB will pay huge dividends in the future for my career.
4. I also met a lot of students of UWSB-Kolkata and I got a great impression of the college from them,all of them feel they learnt a lot from UWSB and are very proud of the faculty,who are simply awesome..
5. Lastly placements too have been very good so far and when a college has such outstanding faculty,good infrastructure,great curriculum and willing students good placements are bound to happen(isn't it??),moreover many people have been placed internationally to countries like UK,Singapore etc already!!



So I choose UWSB and I hope for a great 2 years at UWSB...

About the faculty: We have ivy leagued faculty- they are from IIMs and other top level B Schools around the world. They dont only have the relevant industry experience, but also have the experience of teaching in the IIMs and other Ivy League B Schools around the country and abroad. A detailed list of faculties is given in the website and they have been shown department wise. U can check them out. www.unitedworld.in (Intellectual Capital- Faculties)
Pedagogy: I wouldnt really know the teaching methods in other B Schools, but things are very good here.

Rigour: Things are pretty tough here, many people have left as they have not been able to cope up with the rigour and a certain percentage of them are even repeating the year, for not having achieved the required GPAs and attendance. Here, education and overall development is taken very seriously. There are various management clubs like Marketing Club, Rotary Club, Leadership Club, Entrepreneurship Club, etc. for one to participate and gain further domain knowledge.

I have personally benefitted a lot from this college. I have work experience, and I feel it has been a total plus for my further development and strengthening of overall skill set and career.
Infrastructure: We have a wi-fi campus- a good library, and we are one of the few B Schools in the country that has an independent ERP, (I-Campus), it connects the students and the faculties- where teaching material, attendance, personal details etc are well stored and constantly updated. We even have an independent Live Search Engine that will give anyone detailed information on any management related subject- company profile- industry and changing trends of the market.
Always remember, a good B School is classed so, based on the network it has, when most of the teachers themselves have been from the industry and have already been teaching in other Ivy Leagued colleges including the IIMs.

Hence, for placements, there is no dearth of good companies from reaching our campus. Yes, in the initial years, the placements may not be as good as the top B Schools in the country, but soon, we know, this will change.
Also, the placements completely depends on ur marketability. If YOU are marketable, YOU will get good placements. The college will help u throughout, be rest assured. Every college has top category students who get super duper placements, then there is the above average category, then the average, and then the low category. If you show talent, u will definitely reach far!
