Greetings from Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management!!
Hope all of you are enjoying the break and waiting eagerly to start a new
phase of your life.
Here are certain important points that you should be aware of when joining
college.
1. The date of joining is 16th July, 2009. You can come to the college
a
day before as the hostel rooms will be allotted by then. The details of
the hostel will be put up on the main gate of IIT Bombay. Accommodation,
registration and related information will also be updated on the website.
Candidates are requested to arrange accommodation on their own for their
parents/ guardians, accompanying them.
2. When joining the college please ensure that you get all the
certificates that you may have obtained till date. These will be required
when you are preparing your resume for various opportunities. The strict
verification policy followed would be already clear to you from the
admissions process.
3. You need to pay at the time of registration an additional amount of
Rs
17,000 (in cash) towards institute security deposits (Rs 5000), mess
security deposit (Rs 2000) and Semester mess advance (Rs 10000). There are
4 ATM's in and around the campus in case you don't want to carry hard
cash.
4. For international candidates, at the time of registration, an
additional amount of ($150 + Rs 24500 in cash) (Security Deposits ($150 +
Rs 12500), (Mess Advance, Rs 2000), (Semester Mess Advance and Misc.
Expenses, Rs 10,000).
5. Finance Continuum and Marketing Continuum, the premier seminar
series
of SJMSOM,IIT B, are being scheduled for 18th and 19th July, 2009
respectively.

a. Attendance to the event is compulsory
b. You are required to compulsorily wear western formals for the event.
Western Formals consist of Full Shirt, Trousers and Jackets/Blazers. Men
are required to wear Ties too.
c. Both the events are a full day affair and professional conduct is
expected.

6. A laptop deal is being worked out for the new candidates. Details of
the same are available with you senior Mr. Mukul Kejriwal at
mukul.kejriwal@iitb.ac.in
7. A Bulk Suit deal is also being worked out. You will be detailed
about
the same once you reach the campus.
8. For the candidates who are planning to take loan from SBI/HDFC are
requested to get in contact with your senior Mr Raveesh Mohan at
raveeshmohan@iitb.ac.in
9. An assignment has been planned for the candidates, wherein, you are
expected to compulsorily read three books of the list attached and carry a
write-up on any two of the three selected (Write up:750 words)

No you can not nominate someone on your behalf..Try to be there on 16th July..Worst case if you are unable to come on 16th July then you have to be there on 17th July..

Officially there is no dress code for the registration but it is advisable that you wear formals (without tie)
For the Contis (scheduled for 18th and 19th July) you have dress code (Formals with suit and tie)..I guess you must have got the mail regarding this..
There is no off day on 20th and 21st July..The orientation program has been planned during these days..
I don't have update about Hostel allotment till now...

The site has been down since 26th June (the day the waitlist was supposed to be updated) I have been checking every day since.

Since your fees are already paid you ppl don't have to pay any more fees at the time of registration..
However for mess you need to pay a SMA (Semester Mess Advance) of 10k from which your monthly mess bill will be deducted..Further there are a couple of one time refundable security deposit amounting to 5-6k (not sure about the exact figure) for institute and hostel..
For these purpose it is advisable that you carry 15-16k of cash which you have to deposit in the Canara Bank A/c at the IIT campus.
Kindly note the registration is on 16th of July.

Send a hard copy of of your application for withdrawal (by post) to the Deputy Registrar Academic(the same address where you had send your draft)..To be on the safer side do fax you application for withdrawal to the Registrar office and SJMSOM office.

Orientation programs will be held on 16 and 17 July. We have continuum on 18 July and 19July, so everyone is requested to attend all these programs. Do not plan any activity on these four days. Classes will begin on 22 July as mentioned in academic calendar.

Not a issue at all. We dont have any schedule for registration day till now, but procedures would start by 9.30AM (atleast not before that). Even if you are late, its ok.

Hip-Hop Summer Dance Classes will be starting from 20th june by Mr. Rohan (5 time Boogie Woogie winner).

1. Timings- Every saturday and sunday, 12 to 1 pm and 1 to 2 pm
   
2. Venue- Sac, Dance room
   
3. Fees- 1500 Rs for 16 classes
   

Note- These classes are especially for the beginners who have never learnt hip-hop before and want to learn from the basics. There will be separate batches for beginners and advanced.

Officially next waitlist movement date is not planned yet. By trend of last year, we may expect another waitlist movement after 27 June.
FYI: IITs are governed by "IITs act 1961". AFAIK, AICTE policies do not have any binding on IITs. But dont worry, IIT's policies are in best interest of students.
