Lemme throw some light for the SITM procedures..
1)U are put onto a big room where U shall know about Ur batch n its progressive status..
2)They started with a GD then..Topic was normal.Good communication skills and 2-3 opportunities to speak for 1/2 a minute, with valid points will get U thru this stage.
3)Panel members informally discuss the GD after it has commensed n that is a good time to build up Rapport.
4)Immediately after this ends, U are given no time at all..Extempore starts.
5)U are given 3 topics outta which U hafta select 1 for speaking for 3-4 minutes.Topics are quite easy, ranging from abstract to philosophical to General..I chose the one which said:"History is a mirror to the future" or something like that.Again, thinking on Ur feet required since U are given just 3-4 minutes(till the participant be4 U completes..!!).So be ready..
6)Then comes a wait for 4-5hrs for PI(Might be lesser this time..Pack Ur lunch with U)
7)PI...Mainly depends upon what U haf written in Ur form, n what U open Ur mouth abt in first 5 minutes..My interview was all on technical grounds with very inteligent questions upon physics and telecommunication being put.
Usually this PI ranges from 15 minutes-30mins...Mine was for an Hour..
Panel is extremely intelligent, do not try to bluff Ur way through..!!

Prepare answers to general qns like Y MBA?Y from SITM n all that...
Ya, utilize Ur seniors to the full.U won't get a more co-operative lot in any B-skool, I think....They conducted a mock interview for me, U know!!

guys i would love to give detail of my exp. but first let result come out and then quote my experience. till then guys opted for mkting- refresh for difft strategy to mkt telecom product and service and for system - refresh telecom course.

well guys mine score is 65. so heart beat is fast after reading above post. but anyway .
about last year cut off. it was 58. i missed it by one marks. mine was 57. but then after first few round of gd/pi. they called another 100 students on score 57. so i was called for gd/pi in second list, but eventually not able to convert the call. so lets see it this time.

I was grilled about everything on Mobile communication, on linear electronics, Communication fundas, morality issues, Y MBA from SITM..My no. of calls, my CV...N all that regular stuff

In short...Everything on earth was asked(For an EC engineer to know)

Then came an agonising wait....It lasted for 4 hours, but SITM's nice canteen made up for it, though it started being conjusted soon.Nyways..
They had a room were they had been displaying the status of PI batchwise.

Don't know y, but my batch was the slowest to move outta the pipeline.
I took that opportunity to interact with SITM to-be seniors.N they were absolutely mind-blowing, to say the least.
I haf'nt seen more co-operative people in any other B-skool..
They even sampled my resume, n conducted a mock PI for me, so sweet of them!!

At the end i was quite confident that I wud make it thru...
Then came 7;00 pm, there were only 8 people left that time.Interviewers of My batch now started taking 15mins per PI...

But came my turn, I was grilled for over an Hour...
Interview was fantastic, to say the least.Faculties were highly specific, direct, courteous n overly intelligent.I must say, amongst my best interviews...

At the end, got a congratulations from them for being selected(They say that I shud'nt disclose this out...But I am doing it after an year, so I may be pardoned).The seniors asked me abt the interview, n i promised to give them a party if I was selected...Sorry people, if U recognise me, please forgive!
I was a liar..I know, but if I had'nt said that, I wud'nt haf got away at that time..!!

Overall, a superb experiance.
Result was out n I made it finally.But did'nt join it...

I had 71 last year, n filled SITM as a mock IIT-D interview..Sorry if I am hurting any feelings, but that is not the intention.
My scheduled timing was 9:00am but coz my bus was late, I could reach till 10:00am..SITM guys were extremely co-operative.They not only allowed me in, but also provisioned so that I am in no hurry n haf time to regroup..

We had a GD first, which was very well planned...
Topic was about advertising n its morality.
Then there was an extempore...Had 5 topics out of which U had to chose 1..

I didnt intend to hurt nyone but i knw the inside of SITM coz of frnz there and the cutoff is 67(got this news tday) - - How ever dont go by me as the list is not out yet , secondly primary factors would be sound acads + pref to Telecom Engineers ...

BE - E&TC; - Pune Univ wid distinction

- - - Expect a call from SITM at 68 +

Last year the last call was at 58 marks(Management seat)

- - This year expect a jump of 10 marks
- - No of applicants last year 2500
- - - No of applicants this year 4000 - 4500

so competition tougher !! Phew!!!!!

No,u cant switch 2 other domain.The diploma awarded in SITM is PGDTM whereas in other places it is PGDm/PGDBM.Hope ur doubt is clear.

CL's cutoffs are traditionally on the higher side! so i wood expect cutoff for SITM to be around 52-55! not much difference frm 59 but it makes up for a lot of candidates! senior PGs are also predicting a cutoff of around 52-55 for SITM!

Buddy Both are equally good and i guess Marketting is hot in the market ...Systems has more of Computer knw and technical stuff.
Placements are equal , with marketing having the highest package always

Well SITM is a fairly decent institute.....got good placements....not so good on the infra...but tht applies to all symby inst.except SIBM...faculty is good...core specialization will remain for the telecom sector only........i got thru last year...my SNAP score was 71.....cut off went somewhr around 55.....just as a peice of caution i wud like to throw light on following facts....
- one should join only when you are seriously aiming to mk your career in telecom field. Dont join just for d sake of joining....
- dis course is a specialized course and you will be confined to telecom sector only...so watch out....
anywaz...at d end of d day...I wud rate dis one better than any b-school not in top-20.....all d best.......u can visit following link for more info....

I heard the job profile that people are getting after telecom management is almost same as what a Electronics/Commu engg gets after his/her BE/BTec. so, it just acts as tag rather then real value addition. Is it true? Can you tell me what were the profile's offered in latest placement week.

I am Electrical engg with 1.5years of exp with one of leading Business house of India, Is there any inclincation in recruitment in campus palcements for Electronics/Communitcation engg or should i get fair chances?

Also, inform me about the list of companies and salaries offered.
