And, it's not like i only want the biggies. I would be more than happy to just get placed. One may say that 'dude if you dream so high , you should have worked harder and not let this happen to you at 1st place' . I agree, i should have been more serious. But the amount of seriousness one has in a particular university can fetch 55% marks and the same amount of seriousness in any other university may fetch him 65% marks. This is the truth, u can't disagree. But thats not the case when it comes to 10th and 12th, CBSE , ICSE exams are an all india level and the questions are the same. Equal for all !!
Anyways, even today i feel that grads should not be considered the method of filtering becus every university is different. It should rather be 10th or 12th national level boards like CBSE or ICSE , followed by some normalization for state level boards(considering most are from CBSE or ICSE).
This one question will always remain unanswered till i die and i.e.

""How can one say that a 75% grad student from Guru Jambheshwar University or Makhanlal Chaturvedi university is better than a 58% grad student from University of Pune ? ""

If companies look for grads, they should also see the universities and cite the percentage barrier accordingly.
But again, this is how the system works and we have to digest it !!

just a placement shud not be ur target... that u can easily achieve if u hv moderate skills .... Aim for the stars , then u can landup in moon...

the employers know abt pune university ...very popular...what abt the other one...?

dude cutoff / filtering will come in not engg.....but on MBA performance...say...70%/65 % etc in mBA....

The only thing that is worrying me from many days is the grad marks filtering. I understand all the companies do not impose that criteria, but still , somewhere down the line the feeling of "left out" comes within and stresses self. I also know that we cannot change the past and only work upon the future, but then the joy and zeal of working hard is lost the moment the thought of loosing the race comes.

All those who are having the < 60% obstacle would agree that they do want to work hard , real hard to remove that dent in their profile , but then somewhere down the line the confidence gets lost knowing that " boy! you won't make it anyway in the biggies ".


Personally, cannot express you how much eager i am to join this institute. For the next 2 years every single day this thought would creep into my mind that "i won't be eligible in top IT companies". How to remove that thought ? i think i need a rehab .

no not at all..

exactly if there is a weakness in ur profle , u hv to mask it something else...for that u r here for 2 yrs....

never the doors are closed for the biggies...there are ways to make it to the biggies....

always remember that any company wants talented and knowledgeable people...ie the loophole..

work on that....

no. posting will be b'lore, hyd, ncr region , mumbai, pune ( very rare)....etc...




depends on the requirements of the company............

all good companies give package above 7L and profiles vary.....AMDOCS gives very good profiles ( dnt remember it..)

Hello Arun,

I have good knowledge about telecom and I find great interest in it. I can work a lot when it comes to this domain. Would SITM be the perfect platform for me to explore the heights and depths of telecom(in management offcourse)? Would it answer long term career opportunities and would do justice to me in all the areas(knowledge,wealth most importantly). As your classmate has said earlier to do research on my own and then come up with a decision, but this decision is totally based on three factors: the alumnus, you seniors and the faculty.

Please clarify my queries as this would really be helpful in making a correct decision. Also I have a very good person I am getting my doubts clarified, Arun, you had got several calls(FMS,NMIMS) and then eventually you accepted SITM, so there must be something that had stricked your mind to opt for SITM. Please share your experience too, if possible.

People look it might look niche from outside but when you enter this arena there are lot of opportunities to be grabbed . Telecom world is in itself is huge covering so many verticals and there are so many organizations catering to these verticals. For example CSP's, VAS players, OEM, Software soln Providers are only few people operating there are many more. So think wisely and do a good amount of research from your side before taking any decision.

Hello Seniors,

SITM was established in 1996, so its almost 16 years of existence. The college has tremendous reputation, has a good faculty and infrastructure. But then we could have expected a better average package(More than 9-10lpa). After investing around 10 lakhs every student would expect a bit more. I am a bit confused. SITM has been in the top 30 list of B schools in India(according to T.I.M.E). The "B" category of institutes are those that are well regarded at a local level. These institutes may not provide too many national level placement opportunities but are generally successful in providing placements to many of their students with prominent local companies.

Is it true that we have very few national level placement opportunities?
Is it that being a telecom management institute have many companies refrained from recruiting from SITM?

wrong percecption....dude dont rely on these ratings completely...time has rated low coz it is a niche course...but we are far better than many bschools which time has rated ahead than us...we know it...

look at our recruiters list...is ibm ernst and young, accenture.etc are local recruiters..?

Does this mean my admission is secured?
The DTDC courier was delivered on 28th.
I m confused as the date of receiving is 28th or 29th
Moreover,if its 29th will my admission be secured or not??
I had sent a copy of DD by mail on 26th

i think the lady at the counter is somewhat disturbed ! Yes that is really what i feel. My personal experience.

Same thing happened when my sister went there to submit DD . I had sent the DD to my sister first and then she went to sitm . Now the lady at the counter cross questioned my sister that why is she giving the DD on behalf of me? . Stupid !
my sister ignored it. then she asked my sister that why i did not came to deposit my DD myself. to which my sister replied that he is in delhi. To which the lady replied that he was supposed to come not you anyways give the remaining documents. what ????????
My sister told her that we are just supposed to submit the DD. Now after that she got irritated and started saying that you guys dont follow the rules and then say that admission is not secured, now you have come without the reaminaing documnets how can we secure ur brothers admission ???

Then my sister showed them the printout she was carrying of the xerox copy of offer letter and to which she then said that make sure that he comes and visits us in next one month and provides the remaining documents.????
And she even did not give any receipt and told to come after 1 week to get the receipt...

Now temme what are we supposed to do when such people are thr in admission office. simply ridiculous the behaviour of this lady. wish like

dont bother about these people...ur interaction with them hardly 3-4 times in the entire 2 yrs...

Mine is also the same case , Speed post website says delievered on 26/03/2012 at PIRANGUT .

Seems like the post office staff at PIRANGUT is lazy or someone else is lazy .


PS : I feel there is a staff shortage at SITM , as last week when i called the Marathi speaking peon or who so ever picked the phone said Madam is busy with Exams , please call after 4 !
Hadd hoti hai yaar , yahaan hum log paise ikathe karne main busy hain aur inke pass phone attend karne ko staff nahin hai

i have told already to send it thru DTDC....

speed post gets it deliverd here very late....

it was exam time for both batches, and seniors passed out this week...hence lots of formalities and responsibilities were there for each staff...nothing else...

i didn't knew about that, have all others declared 2012 placements ?? Well then its really fishy if SITM is not doing that. whats they hiding ? Session is over, still placements going on, i disagree...something going wrong.

One thing i have noticed and even you puys must have, its common with every management college, and kinda funny ! , that whenever we students want them to be clear about something or disclose something, they will always have a bookish answer for it i.e.
' its institutes policy not to declare _____'
this blank will change from question to question. LoL

we are not hiding anything.. session over ? when...? on 28th only....

There are so many formalities and procedures before uploading the reports which u guys dont know...It doesn;t mean that we can upload the report on 29th itself...

do one thing ...u join any institute of ur choice and answer the queries for ur juniors through PG....at that time u will understand...


remember in cities like mumbai and pune, lots of bschools are there...each one competing against other and approaching the same set of companies...Hence it is a win-win situation for both....

if u feel that something is wrong, then it is ur choice....

Each Symbiosis constituent college has given its figures for 2012 placements except SITM.

Seniors say its the college policy not to disclose the figures before final placements but the same seniors saythe session gets over in March after final examinations. :sneaky:

Is it that Placements for 12 bacth are continuing even after the session is over.....? Dun think so:nono:

u r just an mba aspirant ....not a mba grad yet..u join any b school , then u will understand the real picture. website details vs reality ...

i know many such cases including.....? ....placement season and exams got over just nw....

placement committee will be uploading it after getting the offer letters from the companies...

we don't have the habit of simply uploading facts without written communication from the company....

i know about the current yr placements and how better it is when compared to the last yr... we are not going to hide it until 2013 or so...

i said that we will be uploading it only after the entire placement season gets over..

when u guys came here for GE PI process, the details as on that date was revelaed...


dude, try to understand all bschools have their own techniques to grab students.....99.99 % of the mba aspirants rate a bschool by placements only... if it is not good and all other factors are good, nobody will think of joining it.... Hence placement is the sole factor...

Hence from the month of Feb onwards, all bschools will be uploading interim reports stating the highest and avg and u guys willl easily fell into trap and join those institutes....

b schools know to how to do the business....U guys will ignore all other parameters and join.,,

In this thread itself , i have seen few people comparing SITM against a low profile institute by comparing it with their 2012 interim reports against 2011 reports of SITM...That person joined the same....I have no losses...He/She will come to know about it before august....

Hence if a college displays interim reports it doesn't mean that they are transparent and others are not...

It is a world of tight competition.. Hence all bschools want to fill seats at the earliest.....

Is Graduation marks be only considered for filtering by the companies or they took the mark of 10th or 12th into consideration also. Will the person with not so good academics in 10 or 12 suffers in placements or there r some companies who considered only ur PG marks during placements.

Hi,

Your admission is secured so dont worry. Regarding mismatch of dates....DTDC Visit campus mostly in afternoon.so there is a possibility that ur DD might have reached DTDC office on 28th eve (may be). And they have delivered on next day 29th to campus.

I don't think so. This Fee Structure was there from the beginning. As per website and mails, the following should be the layout for 2 years.

Tuition Fees(only): 3,45,000 each year totaling 6,90,000
Hostel Fees: 40,000 (1st year) & 60,000 (2nd year) for Boys
60,000 (1st year) & 60,000 (2nd year) for Girls
Mesh Fees: 35,000 each year totaling 70,000
Refundable Deposit: 10,000
Pre-Induction Fee: 10,000 (which is added in the 2nd installment)

Hence for Boys (6,90,000 + 1,00,000 + 70,000 + 20,000) -- 8,80,000
& for Girls (6,90,000 + 1,20,000 + 70,000 + 20,000) -- 9,00,000

Thats my understanding. Seniors please guide.....

is it tru seniors dat our fee is revised......??

People look it might look niche from outside but when you enter this arena there are lot of opportunities to be grabbed . Telecom world is in itself is huge covering so many verticals and there are so many organizations catering to these verticals. For example CSP's, VAS players, OEM, Software soln Providers are only few people operating there are many more. So think wisely and do a good amount of research from your side before taking any decision.

Also to add to this question...as the seniors had hinted earlier that the courses offered by SITM are niche, do you think the students would be able to compete in the market in the near future?

We expect an honest answer on this.

Puys, do we get degree as MBA in TM or MBA in systems and finance ?
Can we apply for government jobs after doing mba from sitm ?
