My overall score is 64-65...
Other details:
10th-88.5%
12th-70%
B.E(till 6 sem)-65.7%
i m an electonics and instrumentation student...dont know much abt computers...but m willing to enter Symbiosis...

And even if i get shortlisted for GD/PI. what would be the topics, as in current topics n all. ??

And secondly, experience wont be able to give me marks coz i have just joined ... just 3 months passed till now.

I heard that, SCIT is only for the developers who want to go into management. its not for marketing ppl like me who want to stick to IT security.

I think u r posting in the wrong Thread.This is not SICT thread.We are expecting questions on SICSR.You can get better and accurate answers if u post ur queries in the SCIT Thread.

FYI ...

SCIT has an ISS branch which is for internal security .Current topics include discussion on Copenhagen Summit,Telangna Issues,Technology in Avtar,Kasab changing statement etc. thats going to be common for any college's GD/PI ....

1.SICSR does'nt have a summer placement tradition.
2.Fourth semester is completely field work and one has to shed his sweat in internship/internal software projects.Our seniors are pursuing their training in companies like Angel Broking,Cognizant,GrayMatters etc. but most of the initiatiatives have been off campus.

college fees are quite affordable and its something around 1,80,000.Better check college site and u ll get the details.....
as far as placements r concerned...it has not been good untill last year due to recession and we all know this. For current year batch, i mean 2010 passout batch their placement are going on but i cant reveal the incomplete statistics right now. may be by march we can inform u guys.I suggest u guys to come and attend the GD/PI and keep ur options open, got it? but now the market is really up i think it should not be the concerned right now. by the time we passout or u guys passout the placement will be definitely good. The course offered here is really good and m sure it help us in the future for sure.

Since u r from non-IT background,just dont bother at all but b4 this if u think u can handle the core IT subjects like java,dbms,xml and oracle then u r most welcome. Also, faculty here are very good and they can teach u very well and make u understand and i bet u on tat. If u r really interested then u r most welcome to IT world.

12th : 72%
BE : 60.13% ( I.T.)

( am a mumbai university student. and usually they post final year result in their certificate. but unfortunately my aggregate is around 54 % )

So is there any chance of getting +10 marks or just +5 and + 5 marks only.

Chances r dere but if u really do well GD/PI then u might get a call in merit list .With only SNAP score they dont judge u. just check the selection precedure in the website u ll b able to calculate ur initial score.Also u have a work ex. so it might help u as well in adding marks but u ll not get marks for graduation, u ll get marks for X and Xii marks.

Do not get dissapointed with ur marks in GK section, ur expected 64 marks in SNAP is good enough to secure a seat in SICSR.... just maintain ur performance in GD/PI as well.

1. Will my poor score in GK affect my candidature for SICSR?

Hey u got a good OA score .SIMC,SCMHRD and SIBM are the only colleges which considers sectional cutoffs.You can try other colleges like SITM,SIOM,SCIT etc.SCIT has weightage for different parameters like 10th marks,12th marks etc. and then the overall score it calculated.In ur case ur score for SCIT shud be around 100/100+.U shud try for SCIT.


Now if ur are very sure that you do wanna join SICSR then good news is that SICSR does'nt consider sectional cutoffs.So GK won't cause a problem .Enjoy ....

Do not join a college just for the sake of joining it ...MBA(IT) is a very different course ..Its a core technical MBA so not many people join this course and that is the reason why the cutoffs go low for this college.Now if ur selecting a college just becaase its cutoff is low then u r going to land up in deep **** .Be 100% sure that u want to pursue MBA(IT) then only apply for SICSR.

Yes SICSR doesnt consider sectional cutoffs.With an overall score of 64 u shud get a call form SICSR .

Good to see so many post from the new aspirants and great effort by Amit by helping u guys.Well, I am sure that Amit has been very clear to all points u have made till now. Anyways, i would suggest al of u tat SNAP exams is knocking at the door and m sure all of u r well prepared and confident.
Let me make it more easier for u guys, SNAP exam is the coolest exam u would come accross. so try attempting more question on analytical and logical reasoning so that u can score maximum score in SNAP. why i am saying this because all institute under symbiosis except SIBM and SCMHRD consider overall marks and not sectional cutoff.

As far as general awarness section is concerned, even if u dont know the answer try analysing all the option with the question and u ll find ur answer.This section is very important because our college has subjects like PPM(Principle and Practice of Management) where u need to have good knowledge about the compnies in all sectors and so that u can score well in ur semester exams.

In DI and DS, even if u have come across all types of DI and DS question from IMS learning books, it wont be difficult for u guys at all. well, never bluff and put in all ur concentration in the given question. This section is also far more similar to our subject - Buisness Statistics in 2nd sem and finance in all semester. U need to be very fast and perfect in calculation and lastly confident in ur calculation.

Last section, General english- it can be lenghty or tough. Be prepared we often loose marks in this section. It can be very high scoring section for the one who r good in englsh.

So what we see is that our institute is looking for students who know the basics and can survive in MBA(IT) course.
Yes offcourse, people with computer background r considered more but for non-IT people is also best oppurtinity to switch to IT field because our faculty is really best here and can make u learn the IT subjects in a more comfortable way. OUr faculty r really hardworking and must praise their effort in transfering knowledge to us. We have a very good course structure, in depth course and indusrrial based course.
We also have visiting faculty who r currently working in IT industry taking our regular subject.

Anyways, all the best for ur SNAP exams. Do well . Let me know how all u have done in SNAP exam. We will be their for u to answer ur queries. \

see technical job profile is different thing....but after MBA again coding will be dissapointing to me....please give some genuine advice...

See when I say u need to learn these topics to the core ..yes I actually mean it ..u will groan and yell on urself why did I join this college ..I feel like I am doing my B.E/BTech again....

but buddy believe me after u get grilled completely u know the inside out of these subjects and ur base becomes quite strong .If u want to be an IT manager u shud know what things are possible and how they can be acheived.If u become a BA u shud know which frontend to use, which db to use ,which framework to use and so on... .Although u wont code but u shud know the coding rite so that ur subordinates respect u and dont make a fool out of u ....

Now bout profile..Most of the companies offer the post of Business Analyst,Quality Analyst,SPM,Project Coordinator and System Analyst.But all these offers come with a lot of "ifs and thens" For eg if you have a workex of 3 years then you are fit for SA so on ....

Freshers are also offered the roles of Aplication Developers.Some workex ppl do sit for those companies too.There are always those geeks who love coding and want 2 do it life long ..To be honest enuff I hate coding too and may be more than u do and m not going to do coding after my MBA :-)

YOU CAN'T JUST BECOME A PROJECT MANAGER STRAIGHT WAY ...

u need 2 prioritize ur requirements ..for some compensation package is more important whereas for some the role offered to them is imp.

Not all companies come for CODERS .. For eg we have a company visisting our campus tomorrow for our seniors and its lukin out for QA's ...

SO I WUD SUGGEST IF YOU WANT TO DO AN MBA(IT) and YOU ARE VERY SERIOUS ABOUT JOINING SICSR then be assured u r not going to be a coder if you don't want to be one :-)

If you are very very serious about an MBA in IT then only u think bout joining SICSR.Its more of a ME.We study JAVA,Advanced JAVA,XML,Php,Oracle etc. to the core.Believe me u get 2 learn some practices which u cud'nt have learnt in a job.I can say that coz I spent quite a good amount of quality time in a reputed IT MNC doing all the techy stuff and when I was taught these practices I wondered.."It wud have been great if I knew this when I was working ...."

So its not bout TCS or a local company .U will surely get 2 learn things in a systematic order which u cant learn form ur workex.

But ya PLACEMENT is a concern till now... but frankly speaking having a workex of 36 months in TCS ..u shudnt just rely on the college fr placements ..will surely get one outside in case the college leaves u out ...

In the long run reaching to the post of PM will be quite easier if u have a PG degree :-)

SICSR is NOT IIM so dont be a in a fools paradise but u will surely get 70% of what u expect from an MBA college :-)

if you have other options then go for them but yeah ..incase you want SICSR then this college won't dissapoint u much .

Hmmm avg package till last to last year was around 4.5Lks.Last year due to recession the placement was very badly hit so I dont know bout the exact figure but it was'nt good.Now that the market is showing good signs ...we are optimistic and hoping good placements for our seniors.Till now, very few (rather negligible he he he) have been placed but quite a number of companies are expected in Jan and Feb.So this year's avg pkg can be worked out post feb.

Student profile is excellent.Out of 98 students 66 have workex and out of those 66 around 30 have more than 2 yrs of workex in good companies like hexaware,cognizant,hsbc,patni,mastek,tcs etc.Freshers are also quite sharp.

Life at SICSR is very different from any other college .The primary reason being that it doesnt have a hostel.So students come to college attend classes have fun ..in d eve freak out.....thats it
Although life at sicsr is neither boring nor bad but there's nuttin special bout it :-)

I wud still suggest that if u r not sure of MBA in Information technology then forget about SICSR and concentrate on ur SNAP and try for SIBM/SCHMHRD bt still if u want ...

Faculties - I will put it this way..Every college has mixed lot of good and bad faculties but SICSR is extreme it has a mixed lot of best and worst faculties ...that means faculties which r good are really very very good and those who r not so good are...

Accomodation ..Unfortunately SICSR provides accomodation only for international students but it provides a list of hostels,pgs and rented flats where u can get accomodation in discounted rates...

Students are awesome ..In our batch there are 70% ppl with workex dat 2 in companies like patni,hexaware,hsbc,tech mahindra,tcs etc.crowd is cool and trendy but again dont compare it with the crowd of IIM's or in that case with SIMC/SIBM/SCMHRD.

MBA(IT) is provided only by SICSR and not by SCIT.SCIT has 5 specialized domains and nuttin like MBA(IT) as a whole..they do have ITBM though for details u can visit SCIT thread.Now if u want to be served with core technical subjects in ur MBA syllabus then u can join SICSR.It will be like a M.E. but with management Subjects whereas SCIT is not so core..SCIT does hava some facilities which SICSR doesnt have ...Have fun ...

hmmm ...Its not allowed 2 compare B Schools on pagalguy ..u can just google bout the ranking ...SIBM is the best under Symbi university ...SICSR is a TECHNO mgmt college and its a different domain .. to make the things simpler ...we have java dbms networks etc. in our MBA syllabus .. so SIBM and SICSR are 2 different colleges

Hmm the cutoffs are low as compared to other colleges because this is a core technology college and has only one domain MBA(IT) ...

U can expect the cutoff 2 be somewhere between 45 - 55 ....

As far as placements are concerned .. they are in a bad state ... only very few have been placed ..Expecting the coimpanies in Jan (for our seniors),actual placement details can be discussed post January ...
