I think the excerpt has been nicely put in other words by spiritofmars...
My take on such kind of essay writing would be either u go against it or for it...give 2 to 3 examples with 2 to 3 facts...

Hence, P=/2(100-Q) where P stands for the price
Cost , C = Q^2-16Q+2000
The profit= Revenue - Cost = > Revenue =P*C = Q*(100-Q)/2 = (100Q-Q^2)/2
Profit = [ (100Q-Q^2)/2-(Q^2-16Q+2000)]
= [100Q-(3*Q^2)+32Q-4000]/2
= [132Q-(3*Q^2)-4000]/2
For Profit to be maximum or minimum, we need to calculate the first differential
dP/dQ= 132-6Q = 0
=> Q=132/6 = 22

That answers your first question

for solving a parabola u need to know higher maths...this question requires use of integration...a basic formula of integration
integration of x^n=x^n+1/n+1
in this question u have to integrate it upon x axis....first by solving the equation
the 2 parabolas meet at 1/2,1
the area of the triangle formed is 1/4.integrating the first parabolic exuation we get 4x^3/3
integrating second we get root2(2/3)x^3/2.put 1/2 in these 2 equations we get 1/6 and1/3.now subtract area of traingle from 1/3 and 1/6.taking mode of the two(as area cant be negative) and dividing them we get 1:1 ratio.....

well coaching insitutes are sometimes spoil the temp after giving couple of mock XATs in IMS, when i started giving Test funda mock XAts found DM/AR section and few quant Qs repetitive spoiling the tempo of test environment.based on my experience i advice Puys to take up IMS CL TIME mocks.Test funda mocks individual wise Q solving to improve one's concepts but its mocks not reliable to be solved upon as i feel its wastage of time energy is re solving the solved Qs once.

dont know, I still think there is something wrong with the question. It doesnt clearly mention anything about same number/different numbers. moreover, options are like A must start with 2,4 so on but not "A must select/choose 4"

A again chooses 2 , B chooses 8 | total = 21
Iteration 3 :
