any chance of getting call from IITD?

Seniors,

I have AIR 283 at 88.5. I am worried about the sectional cutoffs. As discussed earlier, they are not disclosed by IITD. But, in your opinion, will I clear the cutoffs? Specifically:

16.75 in Verbal
18.75 in Quant

I have a good score in the 2 remaining sections.

Or are there any chances of an increase in the number of seats or more number of calls as some seats remained vacant last year???

have air 633. shd i apply for IIT D, also What abt Khadagpur or the next iit in the list which people go for.?
hav badly screwed up all other Exams.
so not expecting any other calls except Nmims.
mostly ill try next year again.
just wanted to know if this Gd pi experiences will help in future?like should i apply iit k just for exp. ???

Last year, the last rank to be called for GDPI was within 500. So, unless there is a drastic change, your chances of getting a call look difficult.

You may make it, or just miss it. My personal advice would be to apply. It's better to be safe than sorry.

I think there were 3 seats last year. PH cutoffs are very difficult to predict because it depends on how many people have applied under the category and how they have performed.

with my poor rank(743 General category), I dont think that going by last years cutoff, i would make it, unless there is increase in seats...

HI as per my information there was an increase in seats last year itself ...that was because of some directive which said that all the seats should be filled....which was not the case in earlier years and many of the seats used to remain unfilled
therefore it can be possible this year that the calling list might be extended and therefore more people could be called for interviews this year than the previous one....so u could try...although rank is a bit too low so take risk accordingly

I went through the thread but i have really low QA.. please tell me if i have any reasonable chance of getting into any iits..

The weightage is not disclosed. To the best of my knowledge, its the GD, PI and your profile that matters at the end of day.
We even had the last qualifier ranker (for GD/PI) as the part of our senior batch i.e Batch of 2011

When to apply? There is no notification in the website till now....

It would be coming soon. Just keep the track of the website. There would be window of ample days during which you would be required to submit the form.

There has been no disclosure on the weightage of various parameters,but a good all round performance counts.

so can't i expect a IIT-D call?? (missed IIT-B though...)

so what all should i prepare for GD/PI session? is there any essay writing/group task??


i'm so desperate to convert it, dats y...

Just be aware of the recent news and be confident enough of yourself while going through the process to convert it. There is no essay/group task only a GD followed by an interview.

There is a slim chance of you getting a call but keep your hopes, you might just get lucky

To the best of my knowledge, there wouldn't be any increase in seats for general category. At that rank, going by recent years' trends, your chances of getting a call look slim.
