Well I personally feel (after taking the MICAT for 3 years now) that it is one of the most mis-managed entrance tests of all :
1. Centres allocation- only 2 or 3 or maybe just 1 across Delhi (that too not in any central locations, far off places)
2. Invigilators are clueless (About individual section time limits, compulsory psychometry test etc.) : I know the candidates are supposed to "read" the instructions clearly, but in such a pressure situation, it is highly likely that SOME people (definitely deserving) will miss out due to some silly error (I for one reason, in my first attempt, couldn't complete my written section because the invigilator had not announced the instructions, and started collecting the first section papers, this created utter chaos, screams and tears in the exam hall! and people who DID read the instructions also suffered )
3. No transparency about the marks and weightages (Okay MICA says it doesnt give weightage to academics/ work ex) but atleast a candidate who pays 1750 rs, goes and takes an exam seriously, deserves much more than just "sorry....." when he/she checks the results!
4. No clarity about the admission process itself: first MICA said that the "calls" for the MICAT will be on basis of CAT 2011 scores (Above 90%ile atleast like it was before 2009) and for some reason, the criteria was changed, without much advertising of the fact that CAT was only an "eligibility" step and not "elimination".
Now, I sincerely hope that MICA will release DEFINITE cut-offs(CAT as well as MICAT) this year. Or else, this seems like MICA has found a loophole in AICTE's ruling about all B-schools taking CAT scores for admissions(One of the reasons for which was to let students take lesser exams and spend lesser money on paying for them)
PS: This is not me MICA Bashing, I visited the campus last year for the GEPI process and I was awed by the management and the attitude of the professors. These are my views about the "process" only.
