I took the cat but m doubtful on the performance (due to online isues).Will they consider the CAT scores at any point of the selection process this year,heard they are not but still i would like the air to be cleared from a MICA student!.

I interned at Ogilvy and Mather for 3 months and that experience and learning made me to incline towards this Institute

Hi Puys.....

1. If I am taking my gmat say somewhere around Jan 15, then I would not have received the official scorecard by the time I apply to MICA. However, I would know my score. So, is that sufficient to apply or do I need the formal scorecard? Can someone clarify here.....

2. If both GMAT and CAT scores are submitted...which one is given priority?

heyee....i read ur 'my MICA journey' & there wer bits of me in it too!!!
i'v appeared 4 CAT got 97.05%
got a MICAT call
...gone for GE/PI & then i realized i was good but not good enough!!!!
My PI was a disastr... i filled up my form shabbily.... i wasnt sure 'bout wat i ws sayin...!!!!
(till now i have recognised abovementioned as my undoing)

now when i'v turned into a total MICA FANTIC-wat shud b my focus this year, apart from improving on the given fronts!!!

I am quite naive about what exactly we would be learning at MICA. Pardon my lack of knowledge, but despite being an engineer I have interest in marketing and advertising. As I can figure out from MICA's website, there is a course on advertising. Can someone throw light on what type of course it is and what is ROI? Also, please enlighten me with some detailed knowledge of "communications" , if it's not much of a trouble.

I m an over enthusiastically desperate, gone case, out of order and unrepairable case of "MICA jaana hai" dreamer....

In ne case...i need help from all the mica gurus and i know its a bit late but better late than never to join this thread...:wow:

Cat is supposedly approaching and thts a different issue all together...but i really want to know how mch does ur past academic record matter to get you through MICA?

I hav 80% in 10th & 12th both, but 61% in my B.Tech. wich i hav jst bin over wid sumhow...and now i wanna pursue mgmt in communications.
yes... i do hav a strong dramatics ka background being the managing head of coll dramsoc and representing the same @ IIT R,D,K & BITS-Pilani...& other cultural credits....
wher do i stand???

As I had mentioned in an earlier post, you shouldn't be unduly worried about your academics. Though the selection criteria for the next batch is not out yet, we don't expect that past academic record would carry significant weightage.

You could talk about your achievements in extra curricular activities in your SOP to strengthen your case.

We have not decided the admission criteria for the coming year. You can be assured on two fronts though

1. Having a work ex is not mandatory. A fair no of students at MICA are freshers.

2. Dont worry about your past academic performance. Chill

Till last year a GMAT score of 600 and above would be sufficient to give you a call for MICAT.

PS:- Last year I had the percentile enought o apply for, but could not decide as if what I'd be learning over there. I hope I will be better equipped this time around.

Once you receive a call from MICA, your CAT percentile has no further bearing on your candidature.

From my understanding of the admission process, MICA as a school does not bother too much with how much one scored when we were 17 year old kids. Work experience, though carries some weightage. But its not a pre requisite to get into MICA. We seek a good balance of work ex and freshers.

I would suggest that you don't worry about things you cannot change now, and concentrate on your CAT preps.

Regarding your workex, you could mention about it in your form, but you would not be given weightage for it under work ex. Since you were a freelancer, you could talk about your experiences in your SOP.

The forms should be coming out soon. We shall keep you posted here on PG about the same. The admission procedure at MICA is as follows

1. CAT/GMAT
2. MICAT
3. GE/PI

The minimum percentile required to get a call last year was 90.

MICA is a communications management school. The flagship program is
PGDM - Communications. We do not have any courses that deal with Journalism in any sort of media. As mentioned in a few posts above, the PGPCME is the course for people with an entrepreneurial bent of mind. The PGDM - C is the flagship program which essentially caters to the domain of intergrated marketing communications.

Since PGPCME is a course meant for people who has an entrepreneurial bent of mind, this is reflected in the application in the form of an IDEA you have that you can build on in the mentioned verticals.

You have to present this idea before the panelists and then you have to take the test. This ensures that right mix of people enter the course.

Please go through their decision brochure before applying, this is just not for everyone !
