U cannot compare it with any 'OTHER' Cet institue

And will the person from pumba have a chance to be promoted if he performs better.

1)As far as positions is concerned as it makes a difference from which college u r doing ur grads but not that much difference.If u do well then even u can reach the same level after 2yrs or so.Luck is not in ur hands but hard work is which can definitely change luck in ur favor.
2)every person has a better chance to promote if he/she performs wee coz even organisation wants a person who will lead from front.If u r performing well that means u r doing better than some of ur colleagues. There is no doubt why they will not promote him/her. if they dont do so then they know very well that this person will move to some other organisation which will have a bad effect on company.Again they have to look out for a person who is like or better than him and can work well in those environments.

they have a MMS Degree course but this is what they say

Yes it is mandatory to publish it but some colleges take AICTE for granted
and simply dont publish it
Example:
Last month I checked Alkesh modi site University dept mumbai:It says under updation/construction
Pumba:They have stopped publishing it for years
Chetana,WE,KJ,SIMSREE,JB,indira all publish it withoutfail

Friends no doubt Mumbai University(MU) is MU and Pune university(PU) cant match MU in certain terms.Its not that PU is that bad. No doubt most of us are looking to MBA as a degree which will provide us with a good job and career opportunity to excel and I think no one is wrong if he/she wishes the same. If we look Mumbai then we can see that Finance jobs are easy to get here but if u go to Pune then u can see students who are interested in Operations or IT easily get placed coz of IT companies and MFG industries in Pune and around Pune.I have some friends in Sydhenm.I also have one friend in Some 2 tier school in pune.I mean he is not in PUMBA,MIT,Indira or Sinhgad but still he got placed for summer placement but my SYDHNEM frnd didn't. the moral of the story is at the end of the day how u present urself on D day makes more sense rather than saying if I cud have got this or that college I cud have done better. The recession have definitely removed the mask of some of the colleges who were bolstering of 100% placement.So lets not be under an illusion that if we are a part of so and so college we will definitely get placed in good company. U have to compete hard with ur peer group to prove ur mettle at every instance.whether its Acads or extra curricular activities. everywhere u have to outshine.as far as Highest package is concerned then I think only 10% of the crowd gets that package and not every body so lets not go by highest package.If our goals are clear then money is not the big deal.Skills will help u to earn fame but not the vice versa.So in MBA lets try to make urself much better on every passing day money will automatically follow u.

its impossible for anyone to tell you how much time you'll require to accomplish your dream.

Firstly, it depends on the efforts that you plan to put in. If you are working, you need to get time out and study. Whether to join coaching insti or not depends on you. but you can join and get formal guidance that majority of the lot prefer.

About the time required to get into top instis, Some people do it in their first attempt. Some take 2/3/4 years. It depends on efforts, priorities and circumstances.

To take admission or not depends on the priorities in life, due to circumstances people can't repeat the test and settle on the college that they get. and what is ranking? its just perception, of course I am not denying the difference that exists, but there are a lot of examples who have done well without MBA. so its not the end.

Taking a test again requires dedication and efforts. If you have 1% doubt in your heart that this is not gonna happen next year, don't do it. But if you are confident enough and want to work day-in-day-out for it. Go for it.

After all it narrows down to who works hard. before MBA, during MBA, post MBA...

hey all puys lets stop slashing the name and reputation of the institutes... if someone has some personal vendata against some institute please take it out in private not in the forum... every institute has its weakness and strengths.. no need to tarnish the image of any institute be repeating bad things about it again and again... moreover as last few years were a reign of recession and it affected the market badly and even better institutes suffered a setback in placement records... also it all depends upon how good u perform during and after MBA... somebody once said to me getting into an IIT college is very easy but surviving there is most difficult... so as one of the puys said above its all about how hard you work before MBA, during MBA, and after MBA...

if ur buddies have not got any placement then please don't demoralize others, that institute is running for this many years for some good reason... people are already in much tension lets not escalate it...

No its not good to do MBA from any college if you can give the CET exam next year. Only if you are desperate to take admission this year, you should take. You can rise by a lower rank college also with your own caliber but it takes more time to get a settled job.

Rakshak how can be starting a new thread for OHU is redundant. when u can have a new thread for OMS then I dont see any problem for OHU. also Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Kolhapur and all other university students from Maharashtra are OHU when they are seeking admission in Mumbai.15% seats are for OMS and same is for OHU in Mumbai Uni. If OMS can have thread y cant OHU students have? It will be helpful for OHU students who are looking for admission in Mumbai Uni as it may help to understand the competition among OHU and can clear a rough idea who are looking for colleges in Mumbai Uni.

As a fact there is a placement cell in pumba...and according to inside sources almost all students are placed every year. The only problem with pumba is that they don't disclose the placements like other colleges. Even if u check Somaiya placement record the avg 6.5 include the placement given to pgdm students and only 67 out of 120 students from somaiya got placed in 2009. And Pgdm students include a lot of experienced people, thats the reason for their higher average package.

Starting a seperate thread for OHU would mean a parallel redundant thread since most of the aspirants would be seeking colleges in their HU as well as OHU. And also as per the trend, majority will be aspiring Mumbai, Pune colleges. Hence, any new thread for OHU will be less visited and may not serve the purpose.

Puys, i have read most of the posts here and can see that most people are panicking. 2010 cet was no doubt easier than last year's. so it is obvious to have higher %tages. but this should not worry you. I will here give all of you a little hope.
puys, this year there was alot of uncetainty associated with CAT results. so many people took CET seriously. many of the people who had much better %tiles here must have already opted for IIMs and other top 10s.
so these many people will not be actually joinning the colleges here. So CAP1 and subsequent rounds will bring lot of surprises to all of us.
