I see there is no specific thread for JBIMS admissions and related queries for the incoming batch. With Mh-Cet bein about a month and a half away i am sure a lot of you have many queries related to JBIMS so feel free to ask your doubts here.

Some pointers:
1) Dont repeat questions if they have already been answered(Do look through previous pages before posting queries)
2) Try to restrict queries to JBIMS and anything related to admissions at JBIMS, there is a separate thread for CET prep. Plus if too many CET related doubts are asked here it will clutter the thread so please try to avoid it
3) Any CET related queries do PM us, we will try to drop into the CET thread as well from time to time.

Dude you can definitely get through JB and others ur percentile can also get through. I aint saying that people with 99.7x %ile cant get thru.

My point is just tat candidates with 99.7x %ile this year will need as good a gdpi as last year if not better to get through JB.

Yes u r right, these are correct stats. Now this year 130 (99.6 and 144 (99.96) , so thats a difference of 14 marks for a %ile diff of .28.

Last year, 152 (99.5 and 165/166 (99.96) so thats a difference of 13-14 marks, thats a difference of 14 marks for a %ile diff of .38.

So this year the gap is wider although the no of candidates is lesser.

I agree with your stats, and last year 165 had 99.95 percentile and not 99.90, just to put thing into place. The variation over the range of marks remains more or less same during the years. A little difference that is present is due to a lesser students appearing this year.

actually from what i read...

Acco isnt provided to ppl who rnt from mumbai and nearby places(Thane I suppose). Nothing Candidate type specific

@jtr...i read somewhere that hostel facilities are for OHU and OMS candidates only...and ders nothing abt it on jb site..

I have 99.19% in CAT2010 and I am an OMS candidate.
I appeared for GD PI fr MAH MBA CET 2011 and it went pretty well.The mistake I commited is I didn't appeared for MAH MBA CET 2011 written.Since all are saying that best percentile among two (CET n CAT) will be considered and I am seeing that many of the OMS candidates have appeared for CET2011 too and scored percentile greater than 99.19.
Its tough to get JBIMS I guess..right???...
But its too much wrong to consider the MAH MBA CET and CAT percentile at equal level...

Well frnd, its ur own perception. We should be thankful that atleast MAH CET gives equal weightage to CAT. It is the only place where they give equal opportunities to people who have done good in other exams. Also, there are lot of people in CET as well, who had done good in CAT exam(99+) but couldnt do that well in CET. So, one shouldn't make comparison in the level of competition of the two exams, especially when it comes to the top one percentile students.

Hi Mayank/Pranjal and other senior puys,

I had a query regarding the display of provisional merit lists. On 16th june 5 PM as scheduled, the merit list will be out. Now that list will contain the State merit number and Home university merit number. Now, both these data will not make the picture totally clear, as there will be aspirants from many universities which will come under OHU.

My point is that suppose a candidate is targeting JBIMS and his home university is Pune. Now JBIMS has only 9 seats for Open OHU candidates. Now that candidate suppose gets X rank in state and Y rank in Pune. This will in no way make his position exactly clear as to whether he will get thru JB or not ?

Am I right or am I missing something over here.? Please answer.

I have a score of 136/200 and 99.84. I am under proforma C (Central Government employee posted in Mumbai), as in that is what I have mentioned in my Application Form. I am currently 4/6 on PAR. I have 18 months of Work experience but that is for Deloitte (it is not listed on any stock exchange)

Now I just read a couple of pages above that OMS guys have a 162 sort of cutoff. My question is can I change my candidature to OMS, because as far as I know Proforma C implies that I am under Mumbai as Home University and I do not think scoring 32 out of 34 is easy.

So what should I do :
1. Change candidature to OMS (if that is possible)
2. Try to get 32 out of 34 :)

I can apply as OMS because I have done my XII from Punjab and my degree from Mumbai University, so that implies I do not fall under Category A. Please correct me if my understanding is not correct.

For Maharashtra students, if you change your candidature to OMS, then your CAT score will be considered for that seat.
For outside Maharashtra candidates, the best of both scores will be considered.

So if your CAT score is better than CET, only then is it recommended.

It would be always good if you get JBIMS but chances are less,keep on praying.:)...If you don't get JB then you can go for sydhenam,KJ Somaiya, Welingkar.You will easily get into any 1 of these.Hope for the best.All the best.

At 99.64 I don't see any chance. Keep your hands folded and 'pray' as it is difficult to predict what would happen this year with cut-offs going low.

Though it is too early to ask this question let me answer it for you. MU hostel is available for all OMS and OHU candidates. There is no separate campus hostel.

I have a specific query..
Compared to IIM faculty (Mostly all Ph.Ds.),
What do u think about JBIMS faculty ? I mean, Having faculty from Industry have its pros and cons .. !!

Can u elaborate in detail ? I mean, what are the advantages or maybe sort of disadvantages of not having full time faculty ?

Does students get faculty's attention besides classroom lectures ?
Are there projects floated by faculties at JB which can be undertaken by students to have hands-on exposure to practical management (as is the case with IIMs )?

P.S. I have got IIM-I final convert. Hoping to get JBIMS after GDPI. Just wanted to take informed decision. Any private messages on comparison of 2 colleges are also welcome as PG does not allow comparison of colleges.

We have an IIM-I convert in our batch... there were no personal reasons... he was an oms candidate..
