Earlier, I was going to arrive at Delhi on the 29th morning but had to postpone my plans due to a family emergency. I will now arrive at Delhi on 30th night (around 11 pm) and will be staying at a friend's place that night. Will it be a problem if I report directly on July 1st for registration? Will I get a place in the hostel immediately to keep my bags, etc?

congrats to u buddy.. But then u giving up iift seat is of no use to anybody now.. IIFT Delhi admission closed by 15 june and admisssion letter sent by 17. So no matter how many people cancel now .. there wont be any movement ... wish u would have taken the decision b4 15 june ..

When are the Delhities planning to join. The letter mentions that you can come in advance in case you are an outsider. But what about Delhiites?? Seniors Do Delhi people have to come in advance or is it enough for them to report on wednesday?

1. yes.bring the hostel fees and security fees along.
2.dress code is formals for the 1st month.spcl occasions wud call for formal wear.a suit wil b required during symposiums etc while shirts and trousers during corporate lectures. at parties u can wear nething u want to.
3. books r plenty.more than required at times.. :)
4.not sure as i didnt take a loan.
5. all those who havent taken a laptop can contact dealers in the city and get a deal for u

1. Do we have to bring DD for Hostel fee & security also on 30th? or only colg tutn fee DD is reqd??
2. wat abt the dress code??? wat do v wear on normal days and wat all is reqd for special occasions???
3. books?? are there plenty? do v have to buy some bfrhand??
4. fee loans?? i will be paying 1st installment myself. but are thr banks agents who help us in getting loans?

Just to give an idea about the timelines.. Our first trimester ended on Sep 20th last year. We have a one week break at home and then came back to campus on September 27th... Summers generally begin in the first week of October

vickykumar, for the South Indians at least, the thumb rule is that you get to go home once every 3 months. Typically, the first trimester should get over around the last week of September, and you may get around 7-8 days of holidays. After that, it will be the first taste of The Great Indian MBA Placement Rat Race for you in the form of your Summers Process in October.

you're always welcome to come a day or two earlier....no problems in that as all rooms have been white washed...cleaned....and ready for your batch....
whenever you come to IIFT...u can get in touch with any of the seniors....or the guards and they will guide you....in any case you can contact any of the student body members....their names with contact numbers are available on IIFT's website in the student body section....

When i'd gone fr th GD/PI @ IIFT-K the seniors told the hostels are 3 kms away. Also the campus is supposed to be complete by 2010. Which they weren't very sure about!

From my knowledge when i went for the GD/PI @ IIFT-K, the seniors told tht the hostels are nearby, abt 3 kms away

i feel u shld go for iift-kolkata..its always better than Nmims..U see an institute taking admissions thru management quota doesnt stand anywhere to the might of iift...my personal opinion though...

No the tution fee must reach delhi. U can courier it na... Use DTDC Plus that fellow delivers it in one and half day. U can personally hand it over too only better option if u r a delhite.

dude the tution fee for two years at iift is 7 lakhs . hostel fee is 42 k per year(ecludint mess charges which will be 1500pm to be paid monthly).
For the first instalment u need to pay 1,86,500 or so if u r a general candidate and exactly half the amount for SC/ST students. this fee has to be paid as DD favouring Indian Institute of Foreign Trade payable at DELHI. The hostel fee u have to submit at the time of joining for which u need to make a DD of 42k favouring Indian Institute of Foreign Trade payable at KOLKATA, in addition u have to bring a dd of rs 5k fvrng Indian Institute of Foreign Trade payable at KOLKATA.

well i thought with over 40+ batches being passed out of IIFT Delhi....and in the present scenario with almost 250+ students living in a 6 acre piece of land.....and the fact being that we are still humans....and haven't evolved into camels....its pretty obvious that there would be drinking water facilities....

@ China9..Correctly said dude..w/l is not declared beforehand so people are facing this situation..hope iift comes out with w/l beforehand nxt year.

I am from iit-kanpur and working in an MNC ..have 3 years workex....I have resigned from my job to join iift-kolkata..

Its not at all that people are not willing to join iift-kolkata..instead they got better converts.viz MDI,iims,xlri,fms.."Apart from all these i dont think any other convert is better than iift-kolkata."
Moreover just see some good points at IIFT-Kolkata:
1.The campus placement of IIFT-Delhi and IIFT-kolkata are together.
2.It carries the tag of IIFT same as delhi guys.U R IN SAME MBA(IB) BRIGADE.
3.Fees is reasonable as compared to other institutes and same as of Delhi.
4.Faculty is equally good as of Delhi.

Only thing iift-kolkata lacks as of now is "INFRASTRUCTURE"..that also the constrctn is being done..be a bit futuristic guys...!!
I have seen many colleges with mind blowing infrastructure but they dont have any weight in corporate world...
MBA in IB from IIFT is a tough call to leave unless u have better choices....

hi dude,
this situation occurs IMO because of a fallacy in the admissions process...namely the non-declaration of the waitlist...iift ppl don't reveal that u r in the w/l until and unless u get chance to join....as a result ppl have to make an on-the-spot decision...we went thru the same process a few weeks ago although admittedly we got 2 weeks to arrange the money...now since classes start on the 1st of july i guess the time given to you ppl is only one week since this is the last possible week...hard luck abt that...as for the delayed call....we can only speculate...ppl who have got delhi and kol must have got better converts but probably waited till the last moment to apply for refund...now when delhi seat falls vacant ppl from kol are shifted there...so there won't be any new seats offered in delhi...but new offers are made for every vacant seat in kol...as for the movement of list occuring till last moment that is normal if u look at it...b-schools like mdi, iim-i etc. all r witnessing waitlist movement even after starting of their academic sessions...& one b-school movement is affecting the other..anyways ATB for your decision..

hey guys i got admit in IIFT and now i have a couselling offer from MDI...which in all probability will get me a seat..
can u throw some info on mdi and iift so that i can decide which one to join...
little urgent coz i have got only one day to decide..
fee is not such a big constraint for me...

i dont think last year any service provider agreed to a really nice plan for a CUG.still u can try at the respective offices.
