I am Mayank Bidyasar and have been recently admitted to IBS Hyderabad for PGP 2007-2009. I would like to know how is the life there in IBS? Are all the classes conducted at the new campus or still they are at various campuses.
Also i would like to know about the procedure which one of my friends needs to follow for applying for a change of campus as he too wants to join IBS Hyderabad, whereas he is presently allotted IBS Chennai

hi..i gt ibs chennai...while attending pi/mp in hyd i met few from delhi,kol,pune..gurgaon ha sa good infrastructure.kol building is like corporate one but size not big(based on a candidate frm kol)..chennai big corporate building but no green campus at all as it is in the heart of the city..more or less all icfai campuses r good in terms of infra..banglr new campus is going to b a good one(heard frm a frnd).

Hey there tilok...Frnkly speakin nun cn justify the fees of IBS-Hyd....nt even the directors...bt in the selection briefings they sd that its b'coz they r shiftin to a new campus and its primarily coz they r cumin with a world class infrastructure n bcoz of the fact tht hyderabad campus is much reputed than the other ones plus they offer beter placements than the other campuses...wich is y the fees is 1 lac hier than the other campuses...

i m samir from delhi.i gave my mp and pi on 13 th n unluckily got icfai dehradun,i dnt think i deserved atleast dehradun.though i hv got 2 lakhs scholarship.atleast that gives a relief to my father for paying huge fees.but now not looking at fees,i m in delima whether icfai dehradun is good or not!
shuld i take admission there! though as of now i donot hav any options.but wht makes me tense is d input -output ratio.like if i pay fees of almost 5 lakhs(after deducting scholarship) and gets output of 4 lakhs.(icfai media says dehradun campus has got avg placement of around 4.5 lakhs).wonder they b drunk tht time.
but in all is it advicable to take admission there!
wuld icfai dehradun b better than ****?fees for both of them wuld b same.atleast **** delhi wuld have better tag name than icfai dehradun.

btw, just to clarify some misconceptions here....

its nt true, that u will have a low impression if ur slides are handwritten...
well, mine too were handwritten.... ok printed ones did look much better, but i asked at cl and they only said taht the slides shld be handwritten....newyas, never mind since i gt thru now..


next, cat scores dont matter..... i hardly had a presentable score....just 76%...

well, as for presentations... sir who had to invigilate our presntan, told us that he doesnt care much abt the stuff n content, he only wanted to judge on our presentatn n communication skills...
(god, i know...whn i used to change slides, that time i used to realise how my legs were literally shaking!!!)

in the end, i think its the way u carry urself that day and well definitely ur luck too.....

i guess, i might be late for posting all this, but sorry frnz (n now fellow batchmates) was really busy wid the job...hardly get time..

so well, hope u r all happy and satisfied wid ur campuses ... will catch each other soon enuf!!

well i might get a bit tough for few seniors to reply back real soon as the summer internship is starting on 22nd and tomorrow (19th) happens to be the registration for the same. so please do provide most seniors time to settle down a bit.

what i have attached to this post is a document just naming the companies that have students from ICFAI HYD working as interns for them. i was denied permission to post other details like profiles and stipend. cudnt get time to actually scan thru the details of each company to get what was the profile. in case any one needs a particular info. please PM me.

i shall put the list of final placements in a few days time. am just awaiting further details.

wonder what mised reac u got about the hostel. they are pretty good.
single occupancy, with a lan connection but then they are also working on making the campus Wi-fi. so will be the rooms in the hostel.
as for sports....we do have a annual cricket tournament between the two batches. its called the mrinal anand memorial cricket tournament.

i am in the process of making the sports schedule for the next calendar year. can assure u that i have tried include as many possible games as possible. but they are all subject to availabilty of infrastructure.

please pm me in case of any specific queries.

Dress code, well i wonder what ICFAI is upto, they mentioned the same Casual dress code to us last year but once on campus they always try and push formal wear. there is no informal day like wed. we have been asked to wear formals on all days. we had 5 day week but we now expect 6 day week as we shall have about 2000 ppl on campus (class of 2008+ 2009+ exec MBA batch) damn i just dont understand how wud it be like with 2000 ppl!!!:)
The food according to me is OK. well i do have this frnd of mine who just stop cribbing about the food in coll. but then i wud say its ok not too bad and not too good. you get north indian stuff but then its a mix. and u never know if the northie food is being cooked by a person form andamans!! on a rather serious note it is ok and manageable. else u have the canteen to attack. chineeeese food!

ATM on campus is from SBI

U want latest laptops?? i doubt that coz u can easily increase ur fees by a lac then. i cannot comment on the lappie that u wud be provided but wud say they wud be decent. we were given a dell latitude D 510. may be they change it for u. get in touch with them a lil later ie a month or two later and they wud be able to give u the details.

yes dual specialization is provided by ICFAI.

ya, do u know d procedure of what to do in such a situation:
1) To come a week late after finishing our exams as dis r preparotory classes or
2) come on 1st may n take leave for 3 or 4 days when my exams would be conducted...
if u come to know please tell.

not every 1 be it at hyd or gurg gets good sal u have 2 prove yourself
even if at gurg u r among d best u wil b placed equally well
i being 4m delhi would have loads of adv
1 COST SAVING (fees around 2lks)
2 placement in delhi itself (this also helps a lot if u r placed at say 7 in delhi and 9 at hyd n u recide in delhi then ur 7=9 as u can save on ur living exp)
so i guess 1 need nt think hyd only can only b ur best option
it is what u can take out of what d institute offers b it hyd or gurg

Hey buddy u seem to be very bullish on ICFAI .Probably u shud be on dalal street i guess.Like ur +ve attitude .And am nmot a genius but a below average guy aiming for a top MBA institute in the country.And as u said the MP and the PI was awesome for me tat was bcoz I capitalised on the inherent momentum in me .But on the loan part do u honestly feel that it will actually be prudent to take a loan but no other option for me and will it actually be possible to repay it though this Q is very relative to an individual trying to know the ground reality ,my gut feel is very +VE abt ICFAI but a bit apprehensive bcoz of the amt at stake.And which is the best Hyd or Gurgaon .I want to specialise in finance and was I wrong in putting Hyderabad as m 1 st preference if my area of interest were to be finance.Some say Gur is good for finance.And does ICFAI Hyd come in top 15 boss.Pls let me know.Thanks.

Thanks a lot for that info.I have done my PE 1 man and PE2 dint go that well.IBSAT was the first MBA entrance exam that I gave and I honestly felt that the competition was not that fierce.But one apprehension that I have is that If i can get through this in my first attempt then is the institute attracting good students?Trust me dint prepare at all mate.So just thought of askng u r many students actually considering ICFAI as worth it.I am not going by the mass opinion and i do understand that tis is not the basis to judge a institute but just curious to know the overall opinion and regarding the legal battle of ICFASI wats ur opinion.Pls do post ur frank comment like u did the last time.Thanks in advance.Take care..and hope to c u in ICFAI Hyderabad,bye

Hey ther, frst f all congratulations on getin thru hyderabad mate..
Now then shall post here abt both pros n cons f ICFAI accordin to me...
Frstly as u sd tht uve been workin with IBM fr the past 6 mths. bt then i ges thts ur frst job. And no doubt in IBM ther is scope for promotion soon fr u...bt then dude...if u do an MBA, two years from now then in tht case u cnt even imagine the kind of pakage tht u'l be gettin...coz in hyderabad ther nt only r the financial giants tht cum fr placements bt also the IT cos. list is of hi class. So think from tht point of view..n since u already have an xperience with IBM, u dfinitely will b given prefrnce to the freshers provided u decent with ur academic prfrmnce..As for their infrastructure, i dnt have much of an idea bt the senioprs say tht since its movin to new campus, the infra is only goin to get beter, although nt the best bt it definitely is gonna cum up when v in our final yr

the thing tht really impresd me was the list of cos tht cum ther....it was really comendable. with the likes of JP Morgan, Satyam, Wipro, Price waterhouse, Mckinsey, n all the possible world class banks cumin thr fr placements...u definitely do haev a good scope. so u dnt even have to give a secnd thot if u wanna do it from ICFAI - Hyd.
Ont he flipside, the thing tht may bother you is the fees part of it...No doubt its way too high...almost 7.5 lacs...Bt then at the end of the the banks r providin loans at a resnabl ROI, so payin off tht loan wnt b a prob after u get placed..So it is more of an investment..
Bt yes if u have other options apart from ICFAI -Hyd, then do lemme knw so tht accrdingly i cn suggest u as to wich one to chose from...If nt then dude, dnt miss this opportunity to add an MBA tag to ur resume and increasn ur market value...:)

Hi and another thing actually the job at IBM is not that very interesting but kind of want to
thrive on the brand value but the job profile matters right?and i cannot afford such hefty fees mate and tried to search for scholarships but in vain understandbly no one will be willing I guess.My risk appetite is not that very high ,so want to take a info0rmed decision .Do u think it will be prudent to take a loan and will it be possible to repay it given the legality of the institute is at jeopardy.I know the decision will be mine but atleast can seek ur perspective.Thanks.

And no doubt in IBM ther is scope for promotion soon fr u...bt then dude...if u do an MBA, two years from now then in tht case u cnt even imagine the kind of pakage tht u'l be gettin...coz in hyderabad ther nt only r the financial giants tht cum fr placements bt also the IT cos. list is of hi class. So think from tht point of view..n since u already have an xperience with IBM, u dfinitely will b given prefrnce to the freshers provided u decent with ur academic prfrmnce..As for their infrastructure, i dnt have much of an idea bt the senioprs say tht since its movin to new campus, the infra is only goin to get beter, although nt the best bt it definitely is gonna cum up when v in our final yr

Thanks a lot for that info.I have done my PE 1 man and PE2 dint go that well.IBSAT was the first MBA entrance exam that I gave and I honestly felt that the competition was not that fierce.But one apprehension that I have is that If i can get through this in my first attempt then is the institute attracting good students?Trust me dint prepare at all mate.So just thought of askng u r many students actually considering ICFAI as worth it.I am not going by the mass opinion and i do understand that tis is not the basis to judge a institute but just curious to know the overall opinion and regarding the legal battle of ICFASI wats ur opinion.Pls do post ur frank comment like u did the last time.Thanks in advance.Take care..and hope to c u in ICFAI Hyderabad,bye

Hey guyz...Had my interview on the 6th of Feb...so thot its hi time i shard my experience withu guyz...
Reached the interiew venue by around 6:45..
Got the A8 Batch luckily so wasnt made to wait fr hrs together fr the int n MP.
Neways, the MP was awsum. My topic was - Future of BPOs..(if nebody needs ne kinda help with the slides or content u cn contact me netime)..
the interiuew was pretty decent.
Personaly i feel, that the presentation is the one werin i made the impact n wich impressd the judges...otherwise i dnt think my intervew was all tht good enuf to secure me a place in hyderabad...
And as far as the IBSAT scores r concernd, i really doubt if it maters all tht much...
Bt the added advantage fr me was the three years of work exp. n i ges tht played a very imp role...
In the inetriew the panel grilled me on my academic bakground and work ex.
since ive done my graduation in BMS, they asked me abt my majors (wich s maktg). then they asked me how has it helpd me in my work exp. n since i workd fr a BPO, i sd its more of advtg n mktg over the phone...they askd me abt advtg. - the 4 Ps...
then they moved to work exp. askin me y i quit the job when i was in such a reputed firm as JP Morgan cud have opted fr part-time...answered tht too wich was convincin...
Then they also ask u a couple f thngs abt hobbies n intrsts...
Then finally finally the results wer announced in the evenin n my joy knew no bounds..hehehe
was elated whn i came to knw tht i got thru Hyderabad campus...

hey in d individual room they have provided pins for net connection in each single room,, and so hope u dont want much privacy than a single room..The college classrooms are awesome but grounds at campus is still to be plastered as it is muddy...but will definately get painted and ready till we go as might be awaiting for our first installments.
but they have mentioned of wi- fi technology in d campus..u can use internet 24 hours in ur room..also wi-fi may be available when we reach hyderebad.....so we will meet there on 1st may if there r not few unlucky guy's like me whose final 8th sem exams r around first week of may...

n hey as far as the placement goes...the figs given in the site r very much realistic...i spoke to quite a lot of my scenarios n they all sd tht ICFAI doesnt gives false promises...so when they say the avg pakage is 6.50, it stays so...n also 93% of the batchsize r placed...Welcome to the Icfai Business School - established by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (Institute) this link says it all..
