Actually even I have a similar doubt.. Current salary is 3.5 PA.. Expected hike 75k PA this april, so ideally after two year of MBA, I will need an offer better than 6 PA to make it better than where I am currently. Work Ex 29 months.. BFSI + IT domain.

well, basically there are 3 lists as far as i know.... confirmed, 1st waiting and second...

this time they have sent exactly 240 confirmed mails... so ppl in the first waiting list can definitely be optimistic.... and u can nvr say abt ppl guys.... so there is almost equal chance for all in the second waiting list...

and there are no rankings in the list so we need not make any speculations

As Shreye has already mentioned that last year the waiting list went upto third list i.e. there was another wait list after the first waiting list got clear. As far as movement in the wait list is concerned it depends upon the number of candidates who are there in the first list and are not joining and no1 can really comment on that. So for all out there who are in the wait list, keep your fingers crossed and wait for another 2-3 weeks.

The placement report comes somewhere in mid April. So be patient and don't worry as the placements this time were fair enough at GIM. Please don't post further querries on placements as the report would be out soon and all your querries would be resolved by that:)

The new campus is still in the process of getting ready.
It will be ready to atleast to start the new term there by June... So the 2010-2012 batch will start in the new campus.

You can apply for loan when you come here. You will need to fill a few forms along with some documents to be submitted. If you intend to take it from some other bank then you can apply it in your city itself.
For other queries on loan please see post on pg 17 of this thread..

There is LAN in hostel and WI-FI in the academic block.
We dont know about the internet in new campus as of now.

Why do we need to come there to get the loan??????? Andhra Bank has a MOU with GIM and hence loan can be availed from any branch of Andhra Bank from any city.Seniors please rectify if wrong!!

Maybe on that particular day, the topic given to you was not one of ur strong points or maybe the competition was tough.... there is an element of luck in all these cases man...

but watever be the case, this should not mean the end of the world!

well, i was browsing through many posts and one query surfaced a lot more than usual... "Will GIM get the AICTE approval?"

Well, we had a talk with the management today morning, and they are 99.9% sure they will get the approval within a coming month or so... So there is absolutely no doubt about that:cheerio:. The request had been sent to AICTE quite long time back and hence the approval (which was delayed due to some technical issues) is on its way sooner than you guys can think....

And about the waiting list fundas, i talked to the admissions office. A total of 240 students have been given the confirmation. after which there is a first and second waiting list.:cheerio: the number of which has not been disclosed.

Third point is, dont be under the misconception that there are rankings as such in the waiting list or the confirmed list. All these are just speculations which will be confirmed in sometime....

But till then, party time guys.... chill out, go shopping and enjoy.....

About the loan:
Andhra Bank does provide you with an education loan.
The maximum loan that could be taken this year was 5.8x out of which 10% was margin money. (no security required)
Not sure if the college has signed a new MOU with the bank or not ( this decides the new loan amount granted by the bank).
The interest rates are 10.5+ (dont know the exact rate).
It is easier to take loan from Goa itself.
A loan from any other bank has its own pros and cons (I have taken it from HDFC Bank)

I guess that is all.... If I missed out on anything please let me know.

The merit list is introduced this year. Last year it was called a waitlist... but each waitlist had only 10 people... and were released one month after the first confirm list came. This year process has been changed to speed up things

there is no ranking.... all candidates selected are equal as each of them is selected on some basis which is subjective. So there is no ranking.... we want managers not Olympic racers.

My doubt lies in the grey area of 120 to 240.......as GIM hasn't got AICTE approval officially. So , what is going to happen if GIM doesn't get d approval, though it seems to be very improbable......Still a doubt worth clearing.
