Ankan Dabral: There is major renovation work going on in the campus. I do not think that we shall be able to do so in a financial troubles...
And as for recognition, it is to be renewed every few years. We are well compliant with the requirements. It is a routine thing. All colleges have to go through it. That is how the quality is ensured in all colleges. They test for faculty, infrastructure, student perception, library facilities and the such. We are doing well in that. I suggest that people had better get all the information before going public. I hope this guy is not coming to our college. Put this reply on Pagal Guy for the mental peace of all to see.

The nearest (read the only airport) for GIM is Dabolim International Airport also known as Goa Airport, the Air Traffic code is GOI. Its 34 kms from GIM. The only way as i see to reach there from Himachal is by taking an erstwhile Air Sahara or Spice Jet which flies 7 dys a week to Goa from Delhi. Then u also have the option of taking Kingfisher which hopes thru Mumbai. Otherwise Jet offers a through flight via Mumbai and has 5 flights a day between BOM and GOI.

I guess tat shud be enuff for u to plan the journey. Bon Voyage..

Regarding how is GIM

I think that is ones own perception .. I can give u guys what I felt abt the place .
Frankly speaking I was disappointed .. as the motorcycle taxi ( ya here in goa , we have motorcycle taxis ) dropped me in front of the main gig gate of GIM . That had an uncanny resemblance to The grandiose gates of our very own Tihar . Jokes apart that gate was locked and seriously I was disappointed to say the least.
I asked someone , as to how to get in .. he directed me to the main gate of GIM .. and this is where my views of GIM changed .

Thats what hits u when u reach GIM even in this scorching heat GIM had greenery all around .,,, U get very gud vibes when u get here . I just loved that 1 km ride on the stretch of road that joins panaji bus stand and ribandar with the mandovi flowing next to the road .. it was a great experience to say the least ..

In the morning yesterday before coming to GIM , I had gone straight to the bank .. Andhra bank .. there the lady . Ranjini madam .. was very helpful , even the bank manager was very helpful . Guys have all ur worries at bay getting a loan for studying at GIM is as easy as it can possibly ever get
U only need a few documents from the college that , u will receive in a few days . Apart from your own documents .. like attested copies of every year of ur college .and ur tenth and twelth marksheets also

Pls note attested marksheets of each year of your graduation.

The lady at the bank gave me the form to open the savings account which needs to be signed and stamped by steves ..who is the administrator here as he was away with the director for an overnite meet couldnt get the work done The bank requires a statement of expense which is prepared by the college which also includes the cost of the laptop.
Now herein lies the problem the college will not give the statement of expense as of now .. as there have been instances where the students have taken the loan , deposited the first installment .. then forfeited the seat as well as the 30,000 rs .. and then the bank was after GIM

The thing is the approximate expense would be around 4 the bank says that we need to make a payment of approx 10% of the loan in banking parlance this is called as the margin money
So that should amount to around 40000, of which 30,000 we have paid now we need to pay around 10k more from our pockets.Now whether this will be refundable to us or not I am not that sure . Will confirm today .. but I have my doubts as I had taken my bike on loan .and the bank had paid 90% of the loan the remaining was to be paid by me

Nehow will get that confirmed
Right now I am in sachinisgods room as steves has told me to wait for some time .. till he discusses what needs to be done

Goa is really hot at the moment really humid tshirts are what are required here .. and floaters
Regarding the hostels I could only see the rooms at lh that too of the ground floors . Its a 2 seater room ..with almirahs and cots and a study table being provided .. by the insti also the internet connection in every room .

Went to the morgue yesterday no1 was there so couldnt go inside .ditto with hilltop and o.t

Life at GIM , is great and I have every reason to believe that theres a juice shop {kal} just next to lh where all the juices are priced below 15 to regarding khana peena no tensions..

Also went to the computer lab .and the library yesterday

Guys me tired as of now else would have gone on for miles

Hi guys abt the delhi gim meet
It was awesome ... would be a huge understatement... I dont have words to describe the meet .....
will come to that later...
As always punctuality ka keeda dint even leave me here .. reaached there a gud 15 minutes early .. talkerd to the manager ,.. there toldhim we would require space for around 8 ppl....
Was sipping my ice tea.... then chaitnya .. PGP1.. barged in
we weretalking .. and then Girish khara came in... It was great to se the lemon coloured GIM t shirt ... Then richa came in .. minutes later aman singh pgp 1 joined us ... then felt that we were running out of space ... just then shruti came in.. we shifted to the new table then ... anubha joined us....
we m,ade ourselves comfortable .. and within minutes we were talking as if some long lost friends are meeting after sometime .... guess we were the noisiest at pizza hut on that day :biggrin:
Then came khushboo ashish then arpit .. then came nikhil then anant and vidhu .... we ppl got to know abt GIM from the qwertyuiop t shirt that ashish was wearing .... it was like gim in a nutshell

shruti explained what all those button were .....
then at the last came ahmer abdullah ... dint get to talk to him much though ...
The meet lasted for nearly three hours .... and I just dint want it to end .... It was just great to listen to the ppl who would be joining the corporate world and do GIM proud ..
after the PGP2 left..... we 5 pgp1 were remaining ...
and guess what kisi ka ghar jane ka man nahin tha . apart from vidhu . as she had to go quite a distance....
so we 4 guys , me aman , chaitanya and anant thought of going to india gate ..went in anant's car and were treated to some great music ..a nd guess what .. composed by the man himself...

The mood that we had was just euphoric ... we all had this feeling of having acieved something great ..... sat on the lawns of india gate for quite sometime .. talked abt life at gim .. what it would be like ...and dreamt .. shared each others dreams ... and bonding took place there itself...
But as all good things have to come to an end .. so this was also to be ....

I dreamt aboutgim the whole night ... for quite a few days I was smiling by myself ... felt as If I was in love again.... and I guess this is the biggest compliment Gim can get atleast from me for the time being...

and right now I am sitrting in a cafe in vasco .... and maybe tonite 2 morrow I mite say to someone .. "last nite I dreamt that I was at gim again: a la rebecca ishtyle ....

will write abt my gim visit .. I think tommorrow in the evning ... as tommorrow will be really hectic ..... I met prashant patel , prashant oza ..a nd ankur (the viper)....

When we receieved our admits last year, we always had the GIM 2007 thread on the main page of pagalguy. We kept posting that frquently.

This isn't the case with the new admits. Come on people, presence on pagalguy should be paramount. Keep posting.

Just to add on....there is a rebate of 0.5% for girls and there is also a separat rebate of 0.5% if you start paying the interest amount as you study. This is with reference to andhra bank where the rate is around 8.75%.

Hi to answer the loan query....look dude....i know half a dozen ppl who availed loan from andhra bank...none of dem incl. me had ne1(read parents / guardian) going with us....however one requisite for the ease of getting the loan is the presence of an andhra bank near ur hometown as ur dad will have to go der for some verification.....no collateral except ur dad's/guarantor's signature along with his income proof.....just come with all those 10th, 12th etc certf plus lotsa fotos.....thats it....

One more frank advice: In case some of u r planning to come down with ur parents, u can also plan ur stay at Joie D Goa(gives GIM discount!!!)...its little farther from our inst. than hotel seema but is a much better place in terms of acco....rent is <900 per day and rooms are much better than seema...only catch is, unlike seema it is not walking distance from GIM....vaise bel me u really don't need ur parents to drop u....

most of us didnt have an acquaintance in any of the banks and most of us have availed of the loan from Panjim. Shailesh aka aspire (2008 batch) was here this afternoon and he was also told by Andhra Bank here in Panjim that the loan won't be a problem once he gets all the docs properly.


None of my batchmates have pledged a collateral and have availed of the loan at either 8.5% or 9.5% (SBI).

Then I have to go to Goa with all the required documents and the loan will be processed in 10 days even without my mother being with me. What the bank will do is send a letter to kolkata for my mother to sign and submit at amy andhra bank in kolkata.

Wid notin much happenin on the thread thought I wud post smthg to keep it alive.
Just came back from Goa after visiting the college. And wat follows is a brief a/c of the whole trip.
The idea behind visting the college was to clear any doubts if there were any once and for all and plus make that all importanat payment of the first installment srry second list guys :), Started out from Mumbai on a Volvo on the 7th of april at arnd 7 p.m. and reached Panjim arnd 9 a.m., as was told a 12 hr journey. Then after some help from a local traveling with us( oh srry .. I was accompanied by a frnd who is also takin up anubha) reached the Panaji bus stand, where we boarded one of the pvt buses going to Ribander Hotel Seema. The bus journey from Panaji to Ribander was really beautiful wit the bus goin thru a very narrow road which separates the mainland from the Mandovi river very scenic to say the least (cost 4 bucks). In fact the entire feel about the place reminded a lot of my native place Kerala. This is the very road that separates the college from the river and thats when I was left wonderin wats the scene like during monsoons !!! A few mins from the college was where we got down from the bus, in front of Hotel Seema arnd 10. a m. The hotel was very decent giving a view of the river. After abt an hour all freshened up, walked down to the college. It was pretty confusing as we were looking arnd for the Admin room or the office :-?. Infact first landed up nxt to the girls hostel in all of this but then the office turned out to be pretty close from there. A very soft spoken lady greeted us and we handed over the DD. We asked the lady, abt the hostel facilities to which prompt came a reply Ill ask one of the security ppl to take ull arnd the college. I asked the lady whether we cud meet up wid ne of the seniors but she told us that there wud be a few but since they were doin their summers they mite not be available. And just to make sure I asked the lady her name to which she replied Jennifer aha! The sweet voice that used to greet us on the phone.
We were then taken arnd the college . The entire place seemed like a maze :confused: wid lots of buildings infact It was the admin building I think where we were being shown the guys hostel which seemed like a quite a huge place wid a number of rooms. Its the same building where the classrooms are located on the ground floor and the library on the 1st floor. The library seemed quite huge from outside although was locked for obvious reasons. We were eager to chk out the classroom but cudnt do so cuz it was occupied for some reason. A major plus of the whole visit got to chk out the girls hostel due to the company I had .. but was told while being led down from the building that this place is a strict no no for the guys. The hostel rooms were pretty decent. The entire campus on the whole has a very relaxed feel abt it very welcoming.

Oh and forgot to mention Genies the joint outside the college .... infact i noticed this place even b4 the i caught sight of the college while on the bus ..... well c'mon its the one thing i ve heard most abt even more than the college mess.
Well all of this took us abt an hour after which we decided to leave with one thing in mind that we are coming back very soon. I was convinced that I had made the rite choice and the ghost of doubts laid to rest once n for all
Also, one thing I realized why all the fuss abt bikes being a necessity over there . Dnt think the pvt buses can be trusted to take u everywhere.
A very smooth ride up until now, the Indian Railwys let us down . The train was abt 5 hrs late . So reached Mumbai at arnd 11 am on Sunday morning.
Well mission accomplished only one thing prob I felt that I missed out on was that I was hopin to meet up wid a few guys on campus Although did happen to see a few ppl arnd the college did not accost em . But then theres a lot thats been happenin on PG that tells me that a MUMBAI Meet is arnd the corner ..so Passa et all do inform abt me abt ne meet in the offing.
Well gues I have pakaoed u guys enuf for now . So chao

but on a frank note will still like to be with gabriel's view point................i think after the euphoria of IIM results gets over this summer PG admin. must come up with some hardcore changes in the policies to make the forum more selective and what we call in our compu industry...MORE object oriented .

Well its nxt to impossible for all to be present in any meet....so 15th is d date..whoever is avl can come.......if some1 misses well den he can come next time........some1 said bandra....so be it.....it wud be gud if that some1 can also suggest some place in bandra.....i believe bandra has a mc donalds.....so we can meet der.....but i have no idea how 1 gets der....

I have send my DD today for 30,000/- . I also spoke to Rajani at the Andhra Bank in Panaji. She was very helpful and she clarified all my doubts. As I am working in Bangalore and my mother is working in Kolkata so she informed me to pick up a education loan form from any andhra bank in Bangalore. Then I have to go to Goa with all the required documents and the loan will be processed in 10 days even without my mother being with me. What the bank will do is send a letter to kolkata for my mother to sign and submit at amy andhra bank in kolkata.
