This is Subrata Hazra , I didn't taken JMET and I have got 88.09 percentile in Cat and I have more than 3.5 years work ex ,My standered X result is near about 50 % and rest all result is above 60 %.
So meanwhile I want to apply the IIT institute.
1st Question is that may I apply or not according to my prfile ???
2nd question is that If I do apply then which institute I should opt ???

i am chandra sekhar dont get miss;leaded by my id,atlast i got a call from iit(roorkeeand iit kharagpur).but i would specially like 2 tell u what help my coaching inst,did when i call them for a help abt gd/pi.they asked me to get registered for tat with 3k bucks,i was shocked cause only 6 days were left for the gd/pi .No marks for guessing what is my coaching institute......TIME ofcourse.

atleast i can see my name in the list....

many surpprises r at store ,particularly for people with very good ranks bcoz given 65% weightage in jmet marks(not rank, so there may be 2-3 marks difference btween 200 & 1500 jmet rank) it all depends on ur performance in gd/pi...btw my rank is 321....

Everyboday had a cool and relaxed interview at IITR. It wasnt a formality man, HOw can you say its a predecided. Each institute has its own style of taking GD/PI and what counts is your performance. I would say everyboday has fair chance of making it to IITR coz many wont actually take IITR coz of other calls in hand. but those who having a single call ie IITR shud really go 4 it.

i said that it was predecided coz i clndt find any reasons why the morning batch was having interviews for atleast 15minutes each while those in the noon batch were just 2 to 3 minutes...i too believe that each of us have a fair chance in iitr and am too hoping for the best...so keep ur fingers croosed and wait for the results....

Had my IIT R interview and GD on March 5.

Topic for GD was -- Sabse sasta, sabse bharosemand !!

GD was a fish market..tried to calm down the ppl but didnt work.

Zapper was when the group was asked abt which products's tagline this was...and no one knew...it was BSNL Data One Braodband !!

PI --Mr.J.P SIngh said boss tumhara rank to bahut low hai..u'll have to do really well now to make it..I was unfazed said ok sir...

ok, abt 14 poeple in the GD. the topic was the most "a-b-s-t-r-a-c-t" of all i've participated in n heard of.....the topic was "selling snow to an eskimo"

the PI was also absolutely chilled.... just general HR....

forgot to bring my all semesters ka marksheet ..gave thm only the last yr one

regarding GD we were given abstract topic: "Selling snow to eskimo"..discussion revolved around competive scenario, adveritisign and lot of marketing stuff comparing with situtation making customers aware of ur product..
made some examples of indian IT and TExtile industry in present scenario has potential to capture world market and correlated some stuf.....

regarding PI it was too cool for me:more focussed on very personal questions regarding my medical history (as im rom ph cat); asked abt. how did perform well in my acads being with this prob. (had good acads); asked why ur rank is low evn though u r so good at acads;
then 2-3 questions based on my polymer backgrnd. and finally what all calls uve recd..

overall interview just lasted arnd 4-5 minutes

ppl plz post in ur gd/pi exp.....those who hav alrdy had it

obviously iitm is better but if you have a low rank thenm prefer iitr
