as u say there were 60 seats in the KJ somaiya government quota last yr.....it means 60(gov)+24(management)+36(gujju)......(not sure of the figures.......came to a conclusion only thru pagalguy posts)........but this yr it seems the management quota has been moved out of gujju quota into the general quota......is this the case......if yes then the gujju quota will hav 60 seats or is it like college will hav 24 seats out of the gujju quota also as management.........that wud mean the number of management seats being 48 rather than 24.........please clarify......also seniors if u hav any idea..plzz shed some light on this

actually the management quota (institute seats) has been formed by reducing the CAP seats. so the minority quota seats remain unaffected.
regarding the institute seats, the cet brochure says they are to be filled as per inter se merit. the only question is, will they?

yes, i fear that much. the cut-offs might just soar. if one goes through the published seat allotment for various candidature types (http://dte.org.in/MBA2007/mba2007_seat_distri.pdf), it can be clearly seen tat the mumbai uni. candidates are the ones who stand to lose the most. in max. cases home university seats (open) have been decreased from mu colleges (for eg. from 27 to 23 in chetana, from 39 to just 17 in somaiya, 26 to 24 in met, 27 to 23 in weli. etc.) and if ur hoping to get into pumba, the other uni. seat has been increased by 1 there.:(

What is this institution seats under MMS?? Is it kind of mgt quota seats?

Could you please clarify that a bit??? If the number of seats have been halved..then it means that the rank cut -off will be very high as compared to last year??

called kj 3 times and finally confirmed tat admission for IB is given only to the rejected guys of the gd pi at pgdm....am really sad....scored 87 per in cat but still couldnt make it to kj even for the IB course....i wanted it badly

I am rushabhsen sanghani , i have a score of 153 (uni rank 328, state rank 379), i have applied in GLMQ too. They say i stand a good chance to secure an MMS seat in KJ Somaiya college.
But heres the big question
How difficult / easy is it to get an education loan (without collateral) ?
Does it cover only Tuition Fees or other expenses like accomodation too ?
Whats the suggested procedure to apply for the same ?

I have just received an offer for PGDM-IB.

I think they are offering this course according to merit to those who couldn't get thru regular PGDM course. Now AICTE has approved this IB course for FORE, KJ.

AICTE has also added 30 more seats in MDI for their regular PGDM as well.

All this is happening after all the admissions have been closed.

Anyways Mumbai, moi coming soon.........

Hi,

The IB placements happen with the PGDM and the MMS batch. This is how it was for last 2 years. I think the same will continue in the future too....they have just changed the name to PGDM-IB...so dont worry about placements.

last yr.. the ranking based cut off for guju quota was around rank 600-625 rank... as cant b pin-pointed exactly bcoz final scorecard doesnt contain the ranks..

being conservative wud b good .. as this yr... according to me.. cut-off wud go higher.. & less cancellations due to messy 3rd CAP allotement process

wanted to know abt hostel facilities in SIMSR. my score in 155/240, applied through gujju quota, staying in kandivali. i m not aware of any hostel facilities in SIMSR. eveyday traveling frm kandivali to SIMSR wud not b possible. pls guide guide me if there is any hostel facility for mumbai students for MMS. also guide me if there is any independent girl's hostel near SIMSR. reply as soon as possible (before gujju quota list is out)

Currently we have one hostel & another AC hostel is about to complete...
The cost for the new facility will be approx 50K for one year. OMS candidates are given preference in the allotment process but i guess it wont be difficult to get into the girls hostel(girls have diff floor in the hostel).

I have friends in class who stay by themselves in a flat. If you want you can PM me and i will give you the details of a friend who stays this way... I would recommend that you follow suit. I think you can easily do this ( find girl roommates) once college starts as well(Inquire in the library one of the guys there is a broker).

Currently i am not aware of a girls hostel other than the college one.

As for travelling... I stay at borivali:) so i know what you are talking about...

by all probabilities.. the 2nd list 4 guju quota ,vch comes out on the basis of ppl frm 1st list not securing admission, wil also b our b4 CAP.. frm the 1st list u wil get to know the all selected 36 students marks & ranks as their MBO no. & other details wud b given(last time it was).. so u all can chk it frm dte site their scores & ranks.. & eliminate those who hav a rank to get them through to JB.. + few others.....

just for information... last yr 2nd list was of 9 students...

abt being personally persent for admission... i am not aware of.. & as our summers r on, it wud take time to chk up on tht... u can call up the office & ask.. & moreover, if i get any info on tht i wil post it on the thread..

But I wanted to know that are gujaratis leaving outside maharashtra and falling under OMS(Outside Maharashtra category) category eligible under gujarati linguistic minority quota? Please reply to this question because there is a similar confusion into the minds of many OMS gujaratis going to appear for the CET next year.

You can check out the following section for OMS eligibility in the MMS brochure that does not need CET...

2.3 Eligibility Criteria for admission to Outside Maharashtra State (OMS) candidates
(Refer rule no. 3.2 for the definition of Outside Maharashtra State Candidates)

1. Candidate should be an Indian National and should possess basic qualification as specified in rule no. 2.1.

2. Appeared for CAT (conducted by IIMs) / JMET (conducted by IITs) / MAT (conducted by
AIMA) / ATMA (conducted by AIMS) / XAT (conducted by XLRI) for seeking admission to
MBA/MMS for the academic year 2007-08.

Such candidates# are required to appear for GD Π conducted by the Competent Authority of Maharashtra State for academic year 2007-08.

As per the data provided by my pal Mitesh...
Around 24 seats out of the total 60 GLMQ seats are filled by the management...
I think these will be for Gujju candidates only

Also the seats that cancelled at the last moment may also be alloted via this route
These will be filled on a First come First serve basis...



To get one of these you will have to pay a couple of lacs additional to the regular fees(similar to donations during school admissions). I am not sure whether they charge extra during the second year as well.

Please note that you will have to personally go to the college to get more/exact info on the matter. If anyone else knows more...Please comment

Yes the facility is available...but i would recommend that you decide after you join college..
Most people say that its cheaper and more convinient (time restrictions wont apply) if you arrange it on your own. You could prob bunk up with others from your batch

i m an OMS candidate. i was allotted 1 mark FOR WE & recieved the reciept of the same. Now this 1 mark is not reflecting in my internate generated result. the CO. in which i have worked is neither Listed co. nor Govt. undertaking in any form. my friend has inquired admission co-ordinator of PUMBA regarding this problem & got mind bloin answer that DTE has relaxed the rules releted to WE & any CO. would b considerable & an ARC in pune also has answered in the same manner. I have already sent a lot of messages to DTE but no reply so far even tried through helpline no. but all effort down the drain. grievance period for OMS is on 10 july & now i m really really confused.
1. Should i claim for this 1 mark.
2. Is there any incidence in the past, when the situation arised like mine is, if then what was fall out.
THIS 1 MARK MAY MAKE OR BRAKE MY CHANCE OF KJ SOM. i m in INDORE so picture is very hazy for me even i cant come down to mumbai bcause of indespensable reason. i would b gr8fully oblised if you answer.

Been there done that....
Let me narrate my adventure regarding the WE marks...(prob an ans to Q2)
I had worked for SIEMENS for 23 months & had obtained a WE letter from the HR on the Company letterhead, stating that i had worked there for 23 months as a country manager.
I was happy and went to the GD/PI at sydneham. The lady checking the documents denied me the marks stating that the first 12 months i as on contract. When i mentioned that the clause of being employed on a permanent basis was nowhere in the CET brochure.
I guess she had no answer for this and asked me to see the director after the GD & PI. I guess the frustration had due to all this led to my average performance during the GD & PI.
After the GD & PI, I went and spoke to the director ...A certain Mr. Dabli... He also refused to grant the 1 mark that i deserved (even though i was potentially fighting to get that 1 mark to get into SIMSREE... Ironic isnt it?)
After this(on the same day i.e. even before the procedure for grievence started) i went to the DTE office & gave a written complaint to the concerned officer(who happened to come to office about a couple of hours late) over there...(dont really rem the name...Office is on the ground floor towards the right)
I also used to go to a class for GD practice..I came to know from there that similar thing had happened to others at sydneham...I got in touch with them..Some people were looking for others with similar fate on PG as well. Everyone was urged to give a written complaint 7 others obliged...
Due to all of this DTE was compelled to set up a committee & all 8 of us were called for a meeting with the committee members & Mr. Dabli... Everyone was called individually(to avoid collective bargaining i guess) stating diferent reasons Mr. Dabli told how we did not deserve the marks...
When i spoke to them i was told that if they printed every rule then the CET brochure would be too big. I guess they dont realise the importance of 1 mark in our potential careers...
Finally we did not get that mark But i guess that if DTE had relaxed the WE mark criteria i would like to think that we had something to do with that:)
Ironically i did stand a chance to get into Sydneham in the secon round (I was too attached by now to the infra at SIMSR & sydneham seemed just an *****)
Coming back to your case in Q1...
I recommend that you somehow send (either via someone or personally) a WRITTEN complaint to DTE. Most importantly get a acknowledgement of the same.
Since you have a receipt... you have a upper had in the matter Going by experience... you should be able to get that mark:)

One of the Document required to be submitted to claim admission
under Gujju Quota is An affidavit on Rs.100/- (Rupees Hundred only) stamped paper solemnly affirming that the candidate belongs to Gujarati Speaking Community and duly signed in the presence of the Executive Magistrate of the Court.
Its given in the online brochure dat the format is available on the SIMSR website. but its not there.
So anyone who has the format, pls upload it

I dont whether Somaiya Admits only Gujju People thru mngt Quota BUT there is an option in the mngt form itself asking whether u belong to (A) Gujurati linguistic OR (B) Non-Gujurati. so I guess even Non Gujuratis can apply. Few of my Non Gujju friends have already applied for Mngt Quota

Around 14 seats out of the total 60 GLMQ seats are filled by the management...
I think these will be for Gujju candidates only

Also the seats that cancelled at the last moment may also be alloted via this route
These will be filled on a First come First serve basis...



To get one of these you will have to pay a couple of lacs additional to the regular fees(similar to donations during school admissions). I am not sure whether they charge extra during the second year as well.

Please note that you will have to personally go to the college to get more/exact info on the matter. If anyone else knows more...Please comment

What is this Management Quota thing ? How many seats do they have reserved for this quota ? and what do u mean when u say that it will cost dear at the time of admission ?
Would the fees be exorbitant if u get thru in this one ? plz lemme know the details for applying thru this quota !
