yes you would have to pay certain amount in ordr to be considered if waitlist moves, this amt is refunded if you dont make it , nd incase you do, it would be deducted from your fees, so theres is not much of a risk

Although you can NEVER predict the movement of the W/L, prior experience shows us that it may be like last year and the year before. Don't go by the spreadsheet alone because not everyone is on PG. Also most people would like to keep their cards to themselves. So even if they are sure that they will get a A/B/C they will not commit to it on PG.

The W?L movement starts only after the 1st days of paying the fees are over. I don't suppose that is anywhere in the next 2 weeks. So have patience till then.

dude if you hav converted you dont need to worry about it at all,
there is no significant difference as far as placements are concerned, both HR n BM enjoy placements that cause outsiders to envy so forget all those fears and hop onto XL bandwagon

To all those worrying about W/L movement be positive as it can never be predicted to what level it would move, but given past experience we are hopful that it would go to similar levels, the actual movement would be clear only after 3-4 days after fee submission deadline, till then its advisable to all to send in the required amount as would be demanded of you, as even if you dont convert the w/l you would be refunded. At this time rather than being anxious and apprehensive I would say pray for your convert and be cheerful and hopeful

I am placed at a very precarious position with w/l 45 in BM. What are my practical chances to make it.. 0.5 or more than that?
Please guide a little with some details so that the anxiety gets to lower levels.

WL students are contacted by e mail.

Once you get your confirmation you have very little time to deposit your fees etc. so be prepared.

I believe yes. The admissions guy told me that we would have to pay somewhere around 20k to stay in the waitlist. We'll get details in the email.

I called the admissions office this morning and the guy assured me that they will be sending emails and letters by post. All waitlisted and converted candidates will receive the emails within next 1-2 weeks.

Whoever you are, I was waitlisted at 77 and was exactly in your position last year...Finally converted on 10-Jun...So keep your hopes intact and sit tight and pray for history to repeat! All the best!

Last to last year, WL 77 was also a girl from Chennai as far as I know

Officially: You need to check your mail everyday
Unofficially: Call up Admissions Office for regular updates on waitlist movement...At your waitlist if you convert you would get a call from the Admissions Office.

You should remain hopeful considering the past trends.

The process till your number comes:

The shortlisted candidates will get their letters in a week or so -> they will be asked to fill the fees and secure admissions -> Seats vacant after the 1st round will be offered to WL candidates

So your number should come in about 4-5 weeks from now.

To all the converts - CONGRATS!
It will be an amazing two years ahead!

To the guys who did not make it- Don't fret God has something better in stored for you.

To the converts About the Fee structure:

Expect the letter to come in about a weeks time. The problem is that they will ask you to deposit the first installment soon. This will be about 3-4 lacks depending on your fees. So all you guys who don't have the moolah ready at hand, a sincere word of advice: Get your papers in place & book a train ticket to Jampot!

For the loan SBI and Central Bank both provide you with the services. Please refer the website or call them for details.

Don't wait till it's too late because you have to deposit the amount before the given date.

HRM convert.

My interview was very cool. We talked and laughed. Try and highlight interesting things about you early on - I highlighted my past in Assam, my training in classical Indian music, and my bizarre interest in Rock & Grunge. I also refrained from talking about how excellent XL is academically instead opting to talk about their extra curricular clubs etc. Also, I couldn't answer ANY question in academics or General Awareness. But I always told them I wasn't sure but would like to make a guess. They often obliged and then i answered and asked if I was correct. This approach often led them to ask me why I made that guess to which I would often reply "I remembered having heard in the news..." or "His name is Marathi so I thought maybe he belonged to Maharashtra?" and so on. This would further highlight my inference capabilities. The key is in leading the interview. And being completely honest. Brutally so. Hope I helped!

My xat percentile - 97.52
acads - consistently good + lot of extra curricular activities
work ex - Chemical core ( 20 months)
Interview - Ragged to the core by all 3 panelists / proper stress interview
Result - Shortlisted for HR:)

Lesson learnt _ Keep your cool .. If they are taking a stress interview => they are interested in taking you :biggrin:
