I had converted SIBM a week ago. The last date of payment was 4th June, 2011. But I am joining NMIMS. Waitlist moves by 1. Hope this helps somebody. :)

Guys you must be all set to begin your innings at SIBM.. Most of you would be reaching here tomorrow or day after. Just a word of caution.. Its been raining since last couple of days and forecast is not so good for another few days. So do carry umbrella or raincoat with you.

when you land in pune airport... take a prepaid cab....
tell them you want to go to symbiosis lavale.... it should take around 700 bucks... best way to get on campus..

after you guyz arrive.. mobile co. will their their representatives to campus... they will set up kiosks n try to woo you with their schemes..
they often have quite attractive offers as well....
idea also offers CUG on campus...

so i'd advise you to come on campus before taking a new no...

so when you sit for finals... co. are likely to offer you 30k-50k more compensation per year of your work ex as compared to me(a fresher)...

I really dont have great insight into this as i have not seen the offer letter this time around...

but i can tell you from my personal experience...
when we entered coll last yr...
we were specifically informed that before 15th june.. any withdrawal will result in a deduction of 25k(non refundable) + 1k(UGC rule)....
so we would lose a total of 26k....
if the withdrawal was made after 15th june then we would lose around 3 lakhs(memory is foggy.... am old..... so not entirely sure)...

this time around the non-refundable part for you guyz is 31k.....
so i suggest you better look at the offer letter ASAP....
if you dont have access.... then please ask any of your batchmates....

acually this tym v lose the whole amount onli if v withdraw admission aftr 7th of july...tht much i remember...but the amount lost if withdrawn between 6th june and 6th july is different...if anybody cud provide the info it wud b of gr8 help...

Yes there are specialization tests before you take up any particular discipline..
what will happen is :
1. After you arrive on campus, your normal classes will start
2. For the first 45 days(till mid july) you will be bombarded with info about each and every specialization
3. based on the above knowledge, you would be made to choose your top 2 preferences for specializations
4. test will be held for your chosen 2 preferences.. it will happen in end july
5. syllabus of these tests will be - all that has been taught since you arrived on campus till the day you sit for these exams..
6. there will also be interviews happening for the same set of specializations- to be taken by faculties...
7. based on how you score in the test n interview... your total marks will be calculated...

Since you want finance:
your preference 1 will be Finance
preference 2 might be any other stream

to obtain finance.. you need to be in the top 45 of students who actually sat for the finance tests n interviews..
if you achieve that.. you will be given your desired specialization...

dont worry bout this too much...
its not a hard as it sounds...
if you are attentive from the very beginning... then life will be certainly easier for you.....
