I have send the declination letter and at DTDC website it was showing it had been delivered....I did not get any mail regarding declination confirmed or not ....Now I m getting mails from admission team of VGSOM about different intimation ....Has not been the list updated ?? is there anything wrong ?? when the amount will be returned to us ??Any idea!!

did you try tracking the speed post using Welcome to the Indiapost Web Site ? Use the code given in the receipt of speed post to track it.
Also call the admissions dept. to see whether they got your letter.

I sent the cancellation request around 3rd of July by courier but it got back and wasnt delivered. Then I sent it via speed post but havent received any intimation yet. Is there anything else which needs to be done??

hey seniors.. i have already send my cancellation application to the asst registrar office few days back... but i didnt sign the application .... i want to know if we need to sign? ... and if needed then do i need to mail again to the registrar office with my sign on it?

In case, seats which would be getting vacant because of candidates leaving at the last moment( as you can see here itself in the thread people have still not posted their declination letter)...they would continue to remain vacant .I would take forward this point once more in an detailed email and let you people know.Lets hope for the best.

Last year for our batch no wait-list was given and all who attended the process and were not selected were asked to check website on ### date.period...so it was a welcome step to give wait-list no.

However the argument still holds good.Would talk to authority and let you people know.

Its a sincere request 2 all those students who have decided to withdraw from vgsom to do it asap so that the w/l candidates may get the seat!!!

Does anybody have an idea about how much amount will be refunded if we withdraw after 1st of July?

Only 1000rs would be deducted. So 1,49,000 Rs would be refunded back.
Some candidates who have already posted declination letter much before and thereby giving other candidates a chance to get the seat have got their refund too.

As bakconfig points out that there is very much possibility of large no seats 2 remain vacant..Also to add to this,JBIMS final result was supposed 2 come out on 17th june..
If vgsom prefers 2 keep its seats vacant but doesnt want 2 take the waitlisted candidates then y did it keep the students waitlisted in the 1st place..when u say someone waitlisted,you are showing interest in them and would surely take them in case seats are left..Otherwise what does the statement "You are waitlisted at XX mean???"This is something very serious!!:shocked:
To add to this,the message that was displayed on 2nd june 2 many guys was that "As of now you are not in the 3rd list"..which does give indication that soon another waitlist would be coming up,in case of vacant seats..
Also that the course starts on or after 20th july rules out the possiblity of shortage of time..

Exactly...its a waitlist number w/o any significance...on top of that i have seen 1-2 guys withdrawing admission after release of 2nd june list...that tells seats are absolutely vacant...and there would have been few more withdrawals after release of waitlists of IIMs nd IITB/D...

it would be great if some senior from vgsom clarify these things..........

Since the second waitlist of IIT Kharagarpur has come a lot of things have happened:

1)Waitlist movement of about 30 seats in IIT D and movement of 30 more expected in the coming days.
2)Waitlist movement in IIT B.
3)Results of new IIMs have come out.
4)Waitlist movements in colleges like MDI and Nitie.

All the above colleges are in direct competion to IIT Kgp, espeacially becoz it is also accepting CAT scores. So if IIT Kgp decides not to come out with another waitlist, they are going to be left with a huge number of vacant seats.
Also for GD/PI at the last moment they had called more students, which means that the intend to fill all seats, and there are many students who have been waitlisted and not called so far , which means that they meet the so called quality standards of IIT Kgp.
So another big waitlist movement can truly be expected.

But the problem is that they have not given any last date of depositing fee to the 2nd list students, so how the waitlist movement is going to work out, we can't say. I think there would be counselling on the day of registration. But then at the same time having a counselling in Kharagpur doesn't seem feasable becoz people who are not sure of getting seat might not want to travel.
So there is very much possibility that admission process is over.

Why don't seniors at VGSOM or passed out alumni close the issue by citing exact profiles and package offered both at summers and at final placements.

I can understand ur concern..but dont worry abt the report being false and all..thats all rubbish. I have personally clarified it with quite a lot of seniors (2010-2012 batch) and the report is pretty much valid.
I am going to join VGSOM this year and those comments also made a -ve impact on me initially as I was leaving IMT G and IITM for VGSOM.
However it was clarified by the seniors that all those rubbish comments were made by one single person from the 2010-2012 batch, who was a loser and was blacklisted by the placeom for messing up with some company HR. That guy is trying to take vengeance by posting those malicious comments with different pseudo names/aliases.

so be assured that VGSOM is and will be frontline b-school of india for times to come.

it wud b abit of troublesome to chk 100 odd profiles bt the results wud b fruitful....

P.S - i chked many of those profiles earlier and i cn safely say m satisfied with the things !!!

I cleared in the first waitlist that came on 18th may but havent received any hard copy of the letter or e-mail unlike others. Another problem is that my mailing address has also changed as I have shifted to a different place. So, will it be troublesome for me if I reach Kgp directly for registration without having any letter with me? What should I do now? Please help............

Have they started to en-cash the drafts ?
Can we check with the banks (from where we made the drafts) to get this info ?

The Assistant Registrar (PGS & R),
Indian Institute of Technology
Kharagpur -721302 .

along with necessary details like your name, CAT/JMET registration no. , DD details(in case you have it.)
The last date for applying for the same is before the session start i.e 19th July but it would be good if you don't wait for the 24th hour(if you had already made your mind)

As per our information the refund would take some time.The fees would be (surely)refunded most probably in month of July.

Just send a withdrawal letter to admin , & also send photocopy of acceptance letter & DD if possible & send a separate mail to them regarding to your withdrawal . I have done this activity but still waiting for the Fee amount to refund back .........................

It would be better if we call them tomorrow onwards bcos 15th june was the last day for DD submission of 2nd june list...

According to a senior, there won't be any fourth list...lets see what happens..
