well after long i really thought to write in details about my XIMB RM gd pi experience..it was 1st bschool gd pi in life i faced and was literally tensed..my basic profile goes like this-
10-89%,12-75%(kolkata) B.E- Mechanical engg final semster student Nagpur university..61 % only aggr till nw( bad engg marks tho markes level r less here) XAT -86%le IRMA-106 applied for PGDM RM thro XAT..
extra curricular good(they dint looked after that anyways during d process..lol)
i had gd pi at kolkata 26 february 11 am slot..
gd topic was Food security is a myth..only 5 min given
made entry twice spoke sumwhat .. initially frankly telling i did not had any idea info much abt info... soon got it from others already chattering...
wanted to apeak more suddenly panelists said its over..
pi -3 panelists..later found one faculty was from rural marketing other an erudite professor in fin....so it started-

fin sir-whats diff BE n BTECH ....told...they checked my xat score in own records... asked Y RURAL...in d mean time odr panelist(marktng sir) bombed at me askin CAN I C D NICE FILE UR CARRYING...containing crap engg semester markseets inside.. i gave
started wd ans y rural.. tellin concoctation of some real passionate facts n also gyans..blah blah.. my ideas..knowledge.. y i think rural is big oppurtunity.. my native place..how it changed... microfinance my interest n all.
tell abt rural bengal'' some persons who r workin for its developed''
fumbled some names...
what is bargadari system in rural bengal''dint knew.. said sumthng which was partly true only..
who is land reform minister of bengal'' struggled at moment bt thought n answered right
so sanmoy u wanna go 4 development policies so go for research later y RM.. sanmoy u told abt ur engg campus near baba amte rural project.. wts dt,.. i told.. healthcare vision in which they r workin n all..

ratrace in engg studiess.. got bsy wd college activities...programmes(my file which he saw contained 10-15 quiz debate certificates ) got bsy wd friends... gf.. chattin n all too much festering marks in sem..huh they looked as if i did some criminal offence..lol.. bt i was true.. only sum minor jargons n gyans i added..
now,d marketng sir came to full form started sanmoy ur credentials are not sumthing directly matching wd rural.. so y it again..
tell some rural organisations u know... told SKS, basix, spandana

huh..atlast gt relief..started ITC e choupal TAta kisan sansar
godrej agrovet , their products name n areas, HUL annapurna ,also airtel,hero hondas new initiatives..
asked abt some ppl name- i previously told p.sainaths name.. they asked wt i know abt hime.. told
final time.. so sanmoy u have good communication skill et al. u shd go for normal mba ,y rural asked wdr i gave cat,. i said yes.. they told to aim iim(lol iims will kick me away seing my grads marks even if i score 99.9)
finally i told them sum resource factors of ximb y i really want to be there,..they told at ximb also pgdm ppl gets 10 avg rural 4-5 salary...
answered ds in gd way... told abt some seniors passed from ximb nw in higher profiles.. they started wd low packages .
finally they said okk sanmoy thankss.. i too thanked them n asked for 1 min.. said finally how i really would like to contribute into Rm programme... sum points... one was that im into quizzing.. bt would like to start special quizzes at ximb Rural Quiz n all..( i gues already such things r there)
left d pi room...that was it overall
verdict-selected for PGDM RM... M happy.... wt i aspired to get it

n a final thing before pi i was at washroom, that place and was chattin in bengali wd some(close)frnds..silly issues... next day was holi actually...the panelist marketing sir came there during n saw me..he was listening actually.. i didnt knew he was ximb professor that time.. n he was bengali too.. which i later saw in ximb brochure...lol

cheers to all mates who aspired really n converted RM calls.. those who dint got final call... don feel bad yaroo mayb better s awaiting u..like they said me aim iim.. during pi...

I made it through:)...Thank you all, seniors and fellow members in PG...You guys rock...Also thank my mentor from XIMB...Looking forward to my days in XIMB...

yes...........but then not really necessary that those who have made it to irma would have made it here as well.................i know around 5-6 people who made it to irma but not ximb

you'll get a mail and a letter from ximb which would mention the last date by which you'll have to deposit the fees.
Then the seats left vacant by candidates who did not pay the fees will be open for the wait listed candidates.

I'm also out. Not even in the waitlist. Don't know what went and where went wrong!! I guess my low marks in XAT jinxed me!!! Only 75%. This was my only good call!! Don't feel like writing anything more !!

I wasn't able to make through.
No waitlist number was mentioned there so that means i am totally out or still there is a chance if waitlist is uploaded later.

well final result is out n i have got thro in RM..

both IRMA n XAT scores can be used to apply but you cannot use both the scores in the same form. If you want to apply from both the scores fill two different forms.

Yes there are sectional cutoffs.

cut off is variable.......depends on the level of question paper....
2008 irma test cut off was 80
2008 XAT cut off was 75

2009 irma cut off 104-105
2009 xat --- 74

seats 60

calls based on cutoff.................no profile based cut off

fees at present --500,000 (tuition fees)

Another bit of information for you straight out of XIMB admissions room.
Looking at the way everybody has been speculating, I went down to the admissions department a few minutes ago and asked two questions.
The excerpts of my conversation is mentioned below.

Me :- sir, are the admission results going to be declared today since you have a running message which states that final results to be declared soon?

Admission deptt: - NO

Me : - will it be declared at the end of this week or during the weekends?

Admission deptt : - Expected.


I shall try and get some more clarification and info from different sources today, till the lay back and watch a good movie.

Arijit, I have been going through some posts in other thread for XIMB..people over there were talking about Orissa domicile people making final cut and getting more preference!!!
is this the case with PGDRM too??

No preferences in Rural Management.

Purely on merit.
