Dear aspirants,
Following are the facts you would like to consider before joining dalmia:
1. No practical exposure
2. Over disciplined: No cell phones allowed in the institute, if they see you talking they will confiscate your cell phone and return it only on the next day, no t-shirts allowed, attendance is compulosry.
3. You will end up giving exams after exams: Only exams are considered as a measuring paramenter of a students capability, if you do not score good then you are useless. Results are declared in the auditorium in front of entire college(just imagine how insulting it would be for the student who has failed, wouldnt his morale go down??)
4. Summer placements: A very few reputed companies come for summers, no good profiles, except for a few.
5. Final Placements: They say average is 5.5 (They have put up the list of students with the package they have got, But i doubt whether they are correct figures)
6. Students in the good books of director are given priority for placements or for every other thing
7. Seniors will say if you want to gain knowledge then join Dalmia, but its BULLSHIT (A couple of months after exams students wont remember anything. They argue to this by saying that "sab jagah aisa hi hota hai", and that is what i am saying sab jagah same hi hota hai, it depends on you how much knowledge you can grasp
8. Finance is over hyped
9. The vision of college itself is narrow, they want to become one of the best colleges in mumbai, not even in india.
10. My opinion is wait one more year and try next year, and if you are a fresher then it is a decent college for you.
Apart from these there are a many other small small things.
P.S: I am a student studying in N.L.Dalmia and i am regretting taking admission here (Majority of students feel the same)
All BULLSHIT!!!
This so called Dalmiaite does not even have guts to reveal his identity:splat:
I am also a student of dalmia I know what the college is all. Instead of converting calls from Welingkar and Tapmi (infact I had taken an admission in welingkar, which then I cancelled) I decided to join Dalmia. 1st converted my PGDBM call and then got through MMS in 1st round.
Let me tell you puys, one thing I knew before joining dalmia that its a high time and one should look for more knowledge nothing else bcoz
"Style can never overtake Substance" and this is the philosophy of dalmia.
I had done enough research about the college and seniors told me about the faculty, coaching, placement and yes Rules as well. For me knowledge was more important than anything else. Had rules been the issue or placements I could have joined any other institute but It was call I had to take which was not easy.

Enough about my background..

Let me tell you puys, I not at any time felt that I made a mistake.. The college is superb. Faculty is one of the best in not only mumbai but India. Professors are alumni of colleges like IITs, IIMs, BITS Pilani etc with vast industry experience.
The college is run on ethics and to inculcate good habits and ethics rules are important. No wonder dalmia has set of rules which students have to follow.
Attendance is compulsory, if you are short of 75% then you will not be allowed to sit for the exam. Attendance for all the seminars is compulsory as college, faculty members and committee members take efforts to call stalwarts from the industry to come and share their experience with students which is also a way college maintains relationships with industry. Yes, Tees are not allowed I dont think there should be any issue here, you are joining a professional course puys grow up :

.
College may or I should say this with assurance that provides with the best education. Let me tell you that you will come to know the difference between your knowledge and students from other colleges immediately after 1 year when you will go for your summer placements. I am experiencing it right now :cheerio:
Placements are decent. Most of people got placed in PSU banks, private banks, Brokerage houses, KPOs, credit rating agencies, Financial institutions, Marketing research firms, FMCG companies etc.
Most of them are offered profiles like credit analysis, equity research, treasury, Institutional sales, equity sales, marketing research, sales and many more (dont remember each profile

)
Average placement is around 5.5 lac and it is not an inflated figure. students can confirm these figures from placement officer when they go to the institute to submit their forms/ gd-pi/ admissions.
College has some committees such as Finance Forum, Ace club, HR club, Entrepreneurship Cell. Believe me these committees are very active. Faculty provides complete support to committee members.
Apart from this college provides training in related areas such as Equity Research, Technical analysis etc. Student can demand for a particular training course which is beneficial to all and college will definitely take a note of this.

So called dalmiaite :drinking:

get your facts right, and more than facts get your attitude right. Your attitude can take you to the sky else it can take you to the doom.
So puys wish all the best to all of you and wish to see most of you in our juniors batch:thumbsup:
Welcome
