Being an IT student if you are interested in Finance then you would be in a betta position to answer the question why Finance.And there is a post already wrt finance questions that can be asked in PI.u cn start workn on dat.Essays are some easy topics.All that will be checked is your flow of thoughts, Vocabulary , creativity n grammar.Essay topics can be like My experience in Dalmia,Myself, A visit to a holy place, B-school of my dreams.

There is no questionnaire given during the PI.
As far as experience is concerned.It depends on you and the faculty who will be interviewing you.
If you wish to take finance then few basic things that you should know:
1. Bank rate,SLR,CRR,CRAR i.e. current rates related to banking and what do they signify.
2. GDP,Inflation rate, basic economic theories done during graduation (if u r from commerce background)
3. Accounting principles
4. Do not Bluff.If you have forgotten some concept or u dun know it at all then jus accept it that u dun remember or u aren't aware about it.No negative points on that.But bluffing is sure rejection.

Yes you need to buy a separate form for MMS minority and only after you get your total score i.e. after CET GD n PI the forms will be out.Keeping checking the website to keep yourself updated.

Everyone will have all sorts of explanations for defending the institute, but what I want to say is that please be aware of all the facts before joining the institute.
I do not want to give counter arguments.
But what i can assure you is that all the points that i have mentioned are correct. (Except the point regarding placements, i had said that they maybe true)
In Fact al the people who are posting arguments to my posts are also the ones who are well aware of these facts, but because they do not want the name of the institute to get spoiled, they are portraying a good image.

We have professors with immense industry experience who shower their wisdom not only when approached in a right manner but also whenever demanded as a right. It does not get any better in other B Schools that fall under Mah MBA CET, our faculty is our strength.

Agreed, in the beginning you might dislike the discipline of no-cell-phones (IN THE LIBRARY, CORRIDORS AND IN THE LECTURES) or no T-shirts. If you did not read books, let me remind you that there is a subject called OB - Organizational Behaviors, which tells you something about motivating factors. Fear of failure is one such motivator, which Dalmia knows how to use.
Results are declared in the auditorium, this is a good thing. Those who put in efforts and study should be awarded. That again is a motivator! It encourages students to perform! My dear friend Dalmiaite, you were perhaps busy playing games on your cell-phone when our professors taught us all this.

Acads are important but if you perform really well in ur GD n you are able to convince the panelists that you do have knowledge then you can convert in PG.And a decent CET score would help you as well.

Well to be honest, the 11 lacs package was the only double figure offer in the history of Dalmia (Marketing) so far. The profile was "Marketing of investment banking".

The average salary lies in the range between 4.5 - 7.0, this is fluctuated by your skills to negotiate the offer, work ex, academic record, company requirements, company profile etc.

Hostel accommodations are made available by the institute for the outstation candidates on the first come first serve basis. For hostel related queries contact Sachin sir. (09820957373)

Till last year (boys) deposit amount was around Rs 10,000 and rent amount was Rs 2,000. Electricity charges exclusive and shared among the roommates. Four / five people per room, depending on the room you get allotted to.

Lecture timings are generally from 9.30am to 4.45pm.
Lunch break is from 12.15pm to 1.00pm.
This is subject to change.

Don't expect to get many holidays, but loads of fun filled activities will be there. Marketing club - Ace Club, Finance Club - Finance Forum, HR Club will give you plenty of refreshing group activities.

Its of no importance to know if people are studying CFA or not in Dalmia what matters is how much knowledge you have in ur little brain...............CFA? Its of no use unless nyone has work ex with respect to the same otherwise its just a degree or conceptual knowledge without any practical exposure............ to add something more in it CFA Level 1 people are also unemployed these days............ to add more here is the thing that when you say CFA and MBA (Finance) the USP of both the products is different....

As far as Faculty is concern no college can grow by having just one faculty who is specialized in particular stream and it doesnt even matter if he teaches to SP or IIMS what matters most is the Curriculum Design of that college itself........the level of case studies that college offers to the students of particular specilisation.........Finance? Its a big fish...... CFA 1 can only teach you the concepts MBA can give the exposure to decision making but on an important note its only IIM A B C, FMS, ISB and SP guys get exposure to that level where they take final call on companies balance sheet......i doubt if JB folks can get that.....rest do get it but after lots of hard work and slogging......

Dalmia is for academics...........i still doubt what dalmia wants to produce MANAGERS or ACADEMICIAN? however one can make a best use of the college if they are ready to work real real hard........

On a final note Dalmia is the Second Best college for finance after JB and i am passionate about it.....Dalmia cant give u placements like JB but bet on this Dalmia Finance can any time beat JB Finance........ again Conditions apply.....pls dont screw me fo this!

The shit that you are talking represents that you have knowledge which is limited to your age and exposure which u have got till date..........

Come out of the books get into market and then you will understand whatever shit of theory that you are talking about has many many constraints when it comes to practical application.........Just to give you an example Black Schole Model of valuation.........Buddy whatever you have learned in your academics is basics but let me tell you frankly it has many constraints when it comes to practicality people like me who are an Equity Analyst have to alter it .......m not fool or drunk to post non sense on PG.......The only motto here is to create the awareness..........

Again when it comes to the Valuation of the company in practical the entire theory does not work...... go and ask your professors........ What i am trying to say here is its not all about Theory its about understanding the therory with practical implications.......... Just to give you one more example...... Section 2(C) of Indian Companies Act 1956 has provisions with regards to the Prospectus of an organization however many does not follow this.....since it does not caters to the need of masses...... When we talk about the Employee Stock Valuation Binomial Model which is been recommended in the books of Harward and its been recommended by Warren Buffet too.......but in practicality why dont companies like Delloit,PWC, Goldman Sachs, American Express etc.....recommends it to the the clients over Black Scholes even after having constraints to it.....

Lets talk about the Statement of Changes in the Equity as per US GAAP, Financial Accounting Standard 15.....by (IASB) International Accounting Standard Board......the provision in the GAAP says that the statement of the equity should act as a basis of the Balance Sheet and the necessary figures in the Balance Sheet should derive from the SCE......however there are many stupid who make the Balance Sheet first and try to tally this with the SEC in reality it should be vice versa......

I can speak a lot on Finance however i cant due to some constraints.......just want to tell you something before i finish the topic that theory will give you a certain amount of knowledge but practical experience or taking theory practically gives you a courage to challenge the theory......if theory is really good then why do we IFRS? isn't it?

I still know OC and SP subjects throughly which i studied in 12th...... which includes Companies Act 1956, Indian Negotiable Instrument Act 1881, Contract Act 1872 but after college i came to know that theory does not work in that way the way it is presented in the books..

As an Equity Analyst when we do the company projections tab hamari lagti hai......tab hame theory nahi bachati tab kaam ata logic and common sense.

As far as IIM's and ISB is concerned.......to reiterate.....you said Even IIMs/ISB can't assure you decision making, its upto you buddy.......m sorry to tell you but you have really poor knowledge and pls dont say this to the outside world or at least to someone frm IIM otherwise that would be a last comment from you on IIM in your life......

Dude company like Mackensy go to IIM C and spends hours an hours to get the people in their Top Managemnet Finance Profile and it pays them Crores of Rs as an annual package......... is Mackensy fool? or they have sold their brains to do so?.....what you expect a company paying in crores is paying just to fill the excel sheet data and someone elese will take the final decision......dude its IIM.....and ISB....pls do a proper reasearch then only open your mouth.......Equity Analyst, Investment Banker, Portfolio Manager, M&A; Analyst these highly paid profiles are given to only IIM's and pls dnt comment on ISB.....we have not reach that level yet where we can speak abt ISB so pls mind it.....

I also wanted to know whether the results would be announced on same day itself as soon as the GD and PI gets completed or else it will announced later? Because I read somewhere that after the completion of Interview they would announce who's being selected...Is it TRUE?

If you did not read books, let me remind you that there is a subject called OB - Organizational Behaviors, which tells you something about motivating factors. Fear of failure is one such motivator, which Dalmia knows how to use.
Results are declared in the auditorium, this is a good thing. Those who put in efforts and study should be awarded. That again is a motivator! It encourages students to perform! My dear friend Dalmiaite, you were perhaps busy playing games on your cell-phone when our professors taught us all this.
Those who due to difficulty level of a particular subject fail to clear a subject are NEVER PUT IN DISTRESS WHEN FINAL PLACEMENTS HAPPEN.
The mark sheets will NEVER SHOW even if you have KTs. However, the heavy penalty, again a negative motivator, makes sure that you dont engage in your cellular activities.

4. Summer placements: A very few reputed companies come for summers, no good profiles, except for a few.

Aspirants are requested to communicate and verify with Dalmia's placement officer / student representative, before believing such BULLSHIT. The previous years' brochures will be available for your reference.

Agree with some points but as far as knowledge is concerned...my first day of summer internship was enough to make me realize the level of superiority(at least in terms of finance) that dalmiaites have as compared to any other institute.With 200 interns in my company...no one was even aware about the basics of finance that we had learnt in 1st sem and yes all of them intend to specialize in finance.
I dun doubt the average package a bit that has been specified in final placements.
Being a dalmiaite...even if i complain on 'n' number of issues, im sure i couldn't have made it to an insti betta dan this one(which means Bajaj,Symbiosis,Somaiya) WE n SIES nerul make no difference.It's indeed easier to stick to negative things coz positive one's are rarely appreciated.
Anywaz all you aspirants can have your rankings but even if you have Dalmia as a backup...be very sure that you will be able to convert at least ur back up insti.Mind you it wont be easy.

i asked in college there is no systems specialization in PGDM n my base is IT so nw cant think of PGDM thru dalmia...
already i have taken a year drop..cant afford one more drop...please suggest me wat i should do...is there any other college for me...???

3. HR
   

You should decide on your own as I am not aware of your other options.
