this is my XAT scor card can somebody pls tell what colleges should i fill whose last date is not passed

essays are evaluated only after the PI calls! so chill!

Its okay essays will be considered during interviews only but what's the harm in discussing it now.

1) once PI calls are out- those who didn't get in may not discuss and those who get in will be busy with GD/PI
2) after 10 more days and when results are out we will not be left with that much enthu to dicuss the essay. Also we might forget sth by that time.
3) this thread is slowing dying atleast it will increase some activity on this thread.
4) this can server as a GD practise for some.

i did online registration for ximb but not send the DD...as i was not sure for XAT.....but now i realised that xat was tough was everyone.............

It was mentioned clearly in the instruction page that the test has negative marks associated with all wrong answers. 1/3rd for first 5 wrong uns and 1/2 for the next - as many others have pointed out as well It dint say .33 and .5 marks (which might indicate variable marks - but i'm not sure). It means it is progressive - if someone is looking for this specific word!!! :)

Hope that clears out all doubts reg the marks...

@golu bhai if u think XAT is getting closer to CAT(sorry mate it zipped way past it).To give u an idea they had to put in -ve .5 as they knew the paper was tough so people may just use flukes and get in....yaar CAT was Go~Karting and XAT was Formula-1.

for me it was the first paper where I couldn't remember even a single question completely after the exam.

and whenever i try and think about xat the only thing that i could remember is "sirdard".

hope fms dosen't go the CAT and XAT way.

I remmeber another question which i feel had wrong answer. This was related to Maxima and Minima

P = L^2(30-L)(1+2L)^-2 (READ IT AS L square * (30 -L) * (1+2L) power (-2).

for what L you will get Max p. If you do the differentiation of this, you will get equation as

2L^2 +3L -60 = 0 => L = -3 +-squrt(9+480) /4

Now squrt (489) is not a perfect number. Answers were given had only perfect number. Did anyone try this question.

Another question, which I got it correct was : the two roots are same for equation
x^3 -3ax +b = 0

Find the relation between a and b.

General mistake what most of the guys will do is not seeing that it is x^3 not x^2. solution is

suppose two roots are k and another root m

so => k+k+m = 0
kk + mk +mk = -3a
kkm = -b

solve for m, you will get the solution => 4a^3 = b^2

there will be an overall cutoff also! so once u clear all cutoffs u have a high score.Maybe ur other sections were bit lower.XL isnt known to give wierd calls,they r strict on cut offs n they play by the rules
i had 98.8 overall n 93 in qa so no call

puys, my $0.02
dont u think that the cut off for quants may be a bit low this time around
last year , quants and verbal were the major sections apart from GK
so they gave stress on quants ( ~ 95%)
but, this time around there is also a di+lr section..
so this time sround they might even put some stress on this section as well..
remember the catch on the paper : U must try to maximise ur scores in each section !!!

Well I dunno if mine was less than the lower cut off :
overall :98.4
Quant was above 95 and all cut offs were cleared ,yet no call from XL last year..I am still not sure what happened because I know a girl who had a call with 95 percentile.
Anyway , wont even get close to last year's percentile this time......:satisfie:
