Hello puys one more basic question in CR : What is the difference between conclusion , inference and judgement ????? If you could provide examples , it would be a bit easy to understand .....

avik.ch conclusion : it derives from a set of premise. premise can be both facts, sub conclusion or claim. but in general term, conclusion refers to final point author is putting forward in the argument.
inference : an inference is must be true statement derived from an argument, or from a set of facts.
judgment : as mentioned, this generally refers to claim made in the argument. the claims can be of author's or of any other third person.
in many argument, at times, there will be a starring difference between claim and conclusion, while in other both will be same.

Some of the pointers from my side. Normally, the CR questions are asked on Strengthening, weakening, Assumptions and Inference. Strengthening and weakening are easy to moderate to find out, the most difficult would be assumptions and inference.
Strategies for answering those questions:
1) Inference -> Must be true on the basis of the premise and WITHOUT adding more information which is not mentioned in the premise or cannot be verified on the basis of the premise.
2) Assumptions -> Reverse the assumptions and see if it breaks the argument. The one that breaks the argument completely should be the assumptions made by the author.

@kinji.at.pg1 I agree with the notion that assumption and inference are the most difficult type and the difficulty at times arises not from the argument itself but from the answer choice. but at the same time, I disagree with the notion that st and weakening are of easier types.
for assumption question : the argument do not always gets weakened when the assumption is negated. an analogy :
In response to mounting public concern, an airplane manufacturer implemented a program with the well-publicized goal of reducing by half the total yearly amount of hazardous waste generated by its passenger-jet division. When the program began in 1994, the division's hazardous waste output was 90 pounds per production worker; last year it was 40 pounds per production worker. Clearly, therefore, charges that the manufacturer's program has not met its goal are false.
Which of the following is an assumption on which the argument depends?
A. The amount of nonhazardous waste generated each year by the passenger-jet division has not increased significantly since 1994.
B. At least as many passenger jets were produced by the division last year as had been produced in 1994.
C. Since 1994, other divisions in the company have achieved reductions in hazardous waste output that are at least equal to that achieved in the passenger-jet division.
D. The average number of weekly hours per production worker in the passenger-jet division was not significantly greater last year than it was in 1994.
E. The number of production workers assigned to the passenger-jet division was not significantly less in 1994 than it was last year.
here, in the correct answer E - when negated will destroy the assumption. but if the question stem was reframed as
The conclusion of the argument follows logically if which one of the following is assumed? and the answer choice E were --- > The number of production workers assigned to the passenger-jet division was same in 1994 as it was last year.
After negation : The number of production workers assigned to the passenger-jet division was not same in 1994 as it was last year.
"not same" can be increase or decrease. Increase : this would support the argument Decrease : this would weaken the assumption. so here the complete negation technique does not work.

an easier example : the bag cost 45$. hence I can buy the bag. --- >
assumption : I have 45$. --- > this is correct assumption, but if negated -- > I do not have 45$. "do not have" can be more than 45, or less than 45$ -- for one I can buy and for the rest I cant buy. So here too the assumption will not weaken when negated.

Buddy since it is clearly stated head-to-head i.e. independently verified. So E cannot be the answer. Also here main scope/idea of the paragraph is the comparison between types of exercises to reduce fat.

A is the better choice. Lets say E is correct and research study is flawed, still there is a chance that aerobic exercising is the best bet. Whereas if A is correct than Pilates are simply better, no confusion about it. :)

in my view both should follow,but the answer is saying only 2 follows.
