You can look at TeachForIndia. Its an awesome initiative and is present in US as well ( TeachForAmerica).
But the only problem is that it requires full time commitment. But you can talk to them and see in whichever capacity you can contribute to it.

They bascially requires volunteers at their centers to help them out in various ways.

This is Sumit Tomar, working with an NGO Ek Nayi Pehel. As the name suggests it is a new initiative, and hence we need voulnteers to join our family so that we can lead to effective result. Working together for the same cause i.e. social improvement will definately produce better results.
Right now we are teaching students on weekends in Sikanadarpur village, Gurgaon. If anyone willing to join us, he/she is most welcome.

Everybody needs somebody. A cock minus a hen equals no baby chicks. Without the nail factory, what good's the hammer factory? The surgeon needs the ambulance driver and we also need people! It shows the importance of others in ones life. The other side of the coin is somebody needs you too. The young need your experience and the old your care. The foolish need your wisdom, and the depressed your compassion. Any time you withhold or withdraw what Gods given you, others suffer, and you shrivel. Looking back over my life, I see where Ive connected with specific people at every crossroad and milestone. To most of them the world will never know, but to me they were absolutely vital. Each helped me to clear a hurdle, accomplish an objective or to reach a goal. Without them, I wouldnt have been what I am today. How about you?
I wondered why somebody didnt do something. Then I realized, I am somebody. Do not commit the error, common among the youth of assuming that if you cant save the whole of mankind you have failed. There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread, but there are many more dyingfor a l ittle love. If you have much, give of your wealth; if you have little give of your heart. Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.
I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interface with what I can do. Remember, if you want to touch the past, touch a rock. If you want to touch the present touch a flower. If you want to touch the future, touch a life. Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does and improvement begins with I.

Everybody can be great because anybody can serve. You dont have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. Dare to reach out your hand into the darkness, to pull another hand into the light. What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal. If we all could hear one anothers prayers, God might be relieved of some of his burden.

The work an unknown good man has done is like a vein of water flowing hidden underground, secretly making the ground green. He who gives when he is asked has waited too long. If you have no will to change it, you have no right to criticize it.
