1. Cost of petrol for 7 km journey =>8.75
meter charge =10+5x5+8
= 43+8.6=51.6
profit=51.6-8.75
= 42.85
2)the percentage profit is :
51.6-8.75/8.75
= 489.71%
yeah that's what i thought... bt in arun sharma ans is given as 3.....I suppose it's a printing mistake...thanks for the reply :)

@rk90 : here how it is:1. identify the 1st common term. Here it is 3.
2. Find the LCM of the differences of the 2 series. Here LCM(4,3) = 12.
3. Find the nth term of either series. Add the 12 x times till you get tn.
x is your answer..:) Simple as that..:)
20/40 is 1/2, we can write it as 25/50 now, caculate the percentage change from 25 to 22, which gives us 3/25 = 12 % :)
easy, right ?
@mohnish_khiani 12%
What is the percentage change when 20/40 becomes 22/50 ???
@shivam_01 Absolutely . Agreed . Until and unless y is a multiple of 3 the entire term i.e 3^10*x-y can not be divisible by 3 . Like 6-1, 6-2 , 6-4 , 6-5 are not divisible by 3 but 6-3 is divisible by 3 .
a-d, a, a+d
3a=15
a=53^2+5^2+7^2=83.
9+25+49 = 83
