kindly show us the differentiation approach. also explain maxima and minima as mentioned by ur fellow pg friend manganese.
hey don't do this mistake alankrita maate = manganese bhai = friend = :nono::nono::nono:
Two indian tourists in the US cycled towards each other, one from point A and the other from point B. The first tourist left point A 6 hrs later than the second left point B, and it turned out on their meeting that he travelled 12 km less than the second tourist. After their meeting, they kept cycling with the same speed, and the first tourist arrived at B 8 hours later and the second arrived at A 9 hours later. Find the speed of the faster tourist.
Ye raha question! MM sir ke alawa hamari kaun sunta hai PG par! central position hi hai. In that way, we can cover maximum solution sets(vertical, horizontal or diagonal lines).
Ek self made sawaal. In the game of tic-tac-toe, where should one put the first mark in order to maximize his chances of winning? And why?

u can do it by using two methods : 1) by making Perfect Squares 2) by using Differentiation Tell me the approach which u want me to explain...both i cant..:D ( tooo explanatory....bahut likhna padega:D )
first look at 12xy ..we need to get rid of it..so 12xy can be written as 3x and 2y and 2 of form 2ab.. now if we take 3x and 2y..we will see that we are also getting after squaring we are left with 8x^2 and y^2..to make them square we need 16x and -4y..after removing this we are left with -4y which can be witten as 2*2*y and -6x which can be witten as 2*3*x..so we can put -1 and get a eqn below so (3x+2y-1)^2=9x^2+4y^2+1+12xy-4y and similiarly rest terms are made

dude. i m from commerce background. plz tell me what to do after this step. it would be in the best interest of everyone on pg if u could shed some light on this technique ,
bhai logo commerce walo dhyan rakh liya karo koi non- technical soln hai iska???
dude. i m from commerce background. plz tell me what to do after this step. it would be in the best interest of everyone on pg if u could shed some light on this technique ,
d2/dx2(f(x)) = 34 > 0 Hence, it is a case of minima

17x2 + 5y2 + 12xy + 10x - 8y + 40 = (3x + 2y - 1)^2 + 8(x + 1)^2 + (y - 2)^2 + 27 first look at 12xy ..we need to get rid of it..so 12xy can be written as 3x and 2y and 2 of form 2ab.. now if we take 3x and 2y..we will see that we are also getting after squaring we are left with 8x^2...

d2/dx2(f(x)) = 34 > 0 Hence, it is a case of minima It is fine. Commerce is good :) Anyway, we have 34x + 12y + 10 = 0 (I missed 'x' there) So, d2/dx2(y) = d(34x + 12y + 10)/dx = 34 + 12dy/dx Since, dy/dx = 0 So, d2/dx2(y) = 34
Differentiate w.r.t. x So, d/dx{17x2 + 5y2 + 12xy + 10x - 8y + 40} = 34x + 10y(dy/dx) + 12y + 12x(dy/dx) + 10 - 8(dy/dx) Put, dy/dx = 0 So, 34x + 12y + 10 = 0 One value : x=-1 y=2 So, Minimum Value = 27 (we can double differentiate and check how will it be minimum)
option 1 dude. as 35 factorial twice will give u 1 squared, 2 squared, uptil 35 squared, now only 36 is left , we know that 36 is the square of 6, so option 1 is a perfect square.

help on this which one of the foll is a perfect square?? 1) 35!*36! 2)37!*38! 3)34!*37! 4)36!*37!
Pls solve this question-- An ant starts from a point on the bottom edge of a right circular cylinder and moves in spiral manner along the curved surface area such that it reaches the top of cylinder at a point directly above the starting point in exactly 2 identical spirals. Find the distance covered by the ant if the radius of the cylinder is 6/pie and height is 20 units ....

To all: pata hai, that was an eay question.. but jo maine OA me pada, question se to kuch relate hhi nahi tha.. bahut bada hai explanation.. will type few lines here 111 = 37*3 . therefore we find the remainder when the exp is divided by both 3 and 37.. last line remainder with 111 = 2.. any methos aisa hai kya??
P.S. as explained by u all 36*35!^2 se seedha nikalta hai!! but ye upar wala explaination kya hai?? koi method aisa hai kya???

Would have been easier with options, and then using backtracking. We have to find the highest power of 3 that leaves the remainder of 1 when divided from 11^972. Means, E(required number) = 1. For 3^6, i.e., 729, E(729) = 486 So, 11^972 % 729 = (11^486)^2 % 729 = 1. So, n = 6 ???
N has f cator 2N has 2f factor....which mean power of two in N is 0 6N has 4f factor...which mean power of three in N is also 0 so 15N has 3f...that mean power of 5 was one .. so number is of form.. x^n*5..has (n+1)*2=f x^n*5*2*3*5..will have (n+1)*3*2*2=12(n+1) so 6f
sach me mujhe bhi 08 dikh raha hai!!! kash aisa question CAT me aata.. aur option bhi hota!!!
not to spam.. ye lo.. N has f factors, 2N has 2f factors, 6N has 4f, 15N has 3f.. how many factors does 30N has??
