We can have a discussion on XAT07 quant on this thread..One can post one's attempts and quesns which one remembers...We all will do an autopsy of the same.. [smiley]
There was a set in which A1, A2 and A4 were given. And the equation A(n-1)xA(n+1)=An^2 (+/-) 1.
We had to find A7. Don't remember the answer, though. Was there a second question in this set?

Yeah totally agree with you. 0 is also an answer to be considered.
Btw, Don't u guys think its a relief that they took back the test paper. I cant even imagine dissecting that paper. TIME cutoffs are quite low? Do you think it would be the same? looks like their CAT cutoffs were a little below...

friends
i remeber only 3 question.
a fuction was fiven whr f(0)not equal to 0,f(1)=3 and find values of F(3)and F(7 )
1.f(3)=18
2.f(7)=843
3.value of n for,n/(20-n)
here n=18,16,10.
these are only 3 values which n can take as 1 ,4 and 9 are only perfect square.

hey both our answers match but isnt the answer of second question as given above be 3.5i doubt it was real nos..i think it was integers
a/d=c/f==something/someting=>1..not sure about the exact numerals
1
no you can very well multiply 0 and 0. 0 is a square of an integer without an iota of doubt
A, B, C, D, E, F, G are seven integers; arrange them in increasing order.
First four numbers are in AP
Last four numbers are in GP
E is highest = 960
There are no numbers between A and B.
There is exactly one number between E and G.
D is the lowest.

ya!! right 0 is an integer
but remember always 0*0 ( vis-a-vis 0^2) is undefined..u cant call it a square of an integer!!!
correct me if iam wrong!!!!

I think we had to remove 3 road segments to completely cut of link btwn B and D...
Can anybody confirm...
I drew it on te paper and thought i was pretty sure while marking 3

Answer to the hyperbola problem was 9x^2 - 16y^2 = 144.
Jnr. Prof. probability was 5/6
Money prob. answer was 10563 (I think 2nd or 3rd option)

yep it is...it regrettably is!
yes 0 is an integer
According to me, answer to that slope question is 2/3 - option (a)
for that, a +b+c+d+e=10 wala question i marked

Yes, zero is an integer. You should exclude zero only if the question says "Natural Number" or "Positive Integer". But since the question was just "integer" zero will need to be included.

Initially I too thought that it was one, but then the answer is actually 2.
but tell me is 0 an integer??
As far as I remember, the question was, for how many values of n n/20-n is a square of an integer.
So for n = 0, 10, 16, 18, f(n) will be 0, 1, 4, 9 resp. ie. 0^2, 1^2, 2^2, 3^2.
Thanks,

three more quants questions whic i could recall are..
1.three points A(0,0),B(0,9) and C(6,0) lie on the co-ordinate axes.
Points R and S on AB such tht AR=RS=SB,points P and Q on AC such tht
AP=PQ=QS.RC intersects PB at point X,find slope of line AX.
My ans 3/2.

for f(n) = n/(20-n) . .. . . this also holds true for n = 10... f(n) = 1 which is the square of an integer....
so in all 2 values..
though i got it wrong :((

It was asked maximum value of the sum of numbers taken two at a time, so in the above case answer is 3+3 = 6, hence answer is >4 hence the interval should be .. I hope that I am clear..

Guys....a+b+c+d+e = 10..it was +ve real numbers.......so answer was 3.5 with the combination 3+0.5+3+0.5+3 = 10......... so range is ....

i dont remember the ans for 3*4 matrix one....
i did it by (adding 1-15)-6-8
cause those were the no.s missing(6 and
since 3*4 matrix has 12 no.s ....
1 more no had to be eliminated from the given no.s....
hence (106-x) should be divisible by 12....
hence x is 10.....

I agree with you, the answer is 4. The only problem was that among the options there were 2 options which included 4 i.e and . I think answer would be since the answer has to be greater than 4. Quant gods please confirm
one Q in quants which says the avg across the rows n columns of 3*4 matrix is the same
1. what is the no which vill not b used
2. wat is the avg?
1. what is the no which vill not b used
2. wat is the avg?
actually i was getting 33.33 % approx so marked none of these
I found sumthn like 40 or so and then looked at the choices and saw that they are too close! So dumped it!
i think i did one of thr %age q's and was 37.8% or something like that
a+b+c+d+e=10
a+b,b+c,c+d,d+e X is the maximum of dese.
Find the mininum value of X..my take would be ans is 4.ie when a=b=c=d=e=2.
find the max value of b/a.
1.a,a+b,a+2b are the three (sides or angles) of a triangle.
2.a and b are positive
i marked cannot be answered by using ...
