unitary method is nothing but the method of carrying out a calculation to find the value of one unit to find the other one.
you can solve the above question by this method too:
formula:: {error/(true value - error value)} * 100
putting this in qs
50/(1000-50)*100 = required answer:)

hey regarding problem 31. I am not very sure. Just let me know if my ans is correct or not. This is the approach which I followed.
Profit of A first time = Rs. 1500.
SP of A =11500
B sells at 15% loss. CP of B=11500
SP of B = 11500 * .85 = 9775.

for QS 24:
ANSHER SHOULD BE 18.75%

let the list price be x.
so the retailer's cost price is 0.8x
and he sold at 0.95x

See,
CP is for 1000 gms , so Sp also we have to calculate for 1000 gms
We know, SP of 950gms =x
therefore, unitary method, SP of 1000 gms = x*1000/950...
Now you can calculate the profit and tereby the profit%:)...
Is the answer correct?
Any problem, get back to me!

Let the list price be 'a'
CP(retailer) = SP (wholeseller) = a x 0.8
SP(retailer) = a x 0.95 = 38
therefore, a = 40
SP (retailer) = 38 and CP (retailer) = 40 x 0.8 =32
Profit for retailer = 38 - 32 = 6
so option C) is the answer
CP(retailer) = SP (wholeseller) = a x 0.8
SP(retailer) = a x 0.95 = 38
therefore, a = 40
SP (retailer) = 38 and CP (retailer) = 40 x 0.8 =32
Profit for retailer = 38 - 32 = 6
so option C) is the answer
could you plz help me with this ???

Hi,
The 4th problem,
CP = 375;
SP=0.8*375, as it is sold at a loss of 20%.
CP as % of its SP = (375 / (0.8*375))*100 = 125%

No, no I do not have the actual answer. Saw your approach anf followed it..thanks!!
actually i guess i did a mistake in step:
9.48 am + 2hrs 42 mins -> 12.54 am
it shud b 12.30 am
so ur approach is also right.
do u hav the actual answer of this question?

distance left = (133/3)
therefore time when they will meet = (133/(3*(10+9)))
where 10+9 = relative speed
they will meet after 2 hrs 20 mins after shramjivi starts off
therefore at 12:30
10:10 + 2hrs 20 mins...Am I correct plzz tell

hey incognito,
According to me,
Speed of magadh = 10 km/hr
Speed of shramjivi = 9 Km/hr
Therefore total distance already travelled by magadh = 10 * 11/30 = 11/3
Distance left = 48 - (11/3)

Speed of magadh = 10 km/hr
Speed of shramjivi = 9 Km/hr
Therefore total distance already travelled by magadh = 10 * 11/30 = 11/3
Distance left = 48 - (11/3)
The circumference of circle is 22 units
speeds A = 4 units/min
B = 7 units/min
so, if A travels x units before meeting,
(x/4) = (22-x)/7
x = 8

ok got it...because time taken = 16/3 and 24/5 hrs. So for easier calculations LCM of 16 and 24
why did you take LCM of 16 and 24?
my take:
Let the distance between Patna & New Delhi be 48 km (LCM of 16 and 24 )
the time taken by Shramjeevi to reach New Delhi : 5 hrs 20 mins
the time taken by Magadh to reach Patna : 4 hrs 48 mins
so speed of Shramjeevi = 48 / (5+(20/60)) = 9 km/hr
speed of Magadh = 48 ...
