Group Discussion has evolved across these years and has become a very complex but Dissected methodology. It is a process wherein people who have been trained can become really stereotypical in terms of performances. This ensures that it becomes easy for the Panel to reject more number of people a...
hello everybody. i'm varatharaj doing pre final year in mechanical engineering in coimbatore(tamilnadu).Right from the day i know about cat i started dreaming being an IIM er! MBA is my passion. im preparing for CAT 2013. As i was from a lower middle class background i cant afford to pay the coaching class fee. now iam preparing for CAT using the books from my college library.
but those books are really confusing and deviated from the actual CAT questions.i dont have a pc too. so i cant refer any online materials. i spend 4 hours daily for preparing CAT. my friend advised me that 4 hours of such preparations=1 hour of preparation by using standard materials like TIME,IMS. i went to TIME and ask them whether i can get the materials alone for a cheaper price. they said they will provide material only along with a course. and that course costs 20000! i was heart broken! i desperately need some standard books. i would be greatly thankful if someone is will to donate extra materials or old materials! PG is my only hope. so please help me! thank you all

@alok7007 You don't have to shout at the top to get noticed during the GD atleast not in the case of VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur and I'm sure it would be the same case everywhere else. What you need to do is smartly chip in between the GD , tell your points very calmly and then watch other speaks. GD is...

"Why MBA?" is a personal question for anyone, and reasoning is based on how you relate MBA into your life's bigger plans. The well established facts like - networking advantages, alumnus, backing of a brand, etc are what an MBA provides you with, but how these make sense for your life's goals and...

You may be looking at the problem differently then what it really is. The idea is not to sit there and get across 4-5 points (even though relevant) without really being a part of the "group". You will get about 1-2 minutes to talk (in totality), and what you do in this time is whats important.

@carrotilla Please share if you find some material around MBA in operations, even I need to study it thoroughly before appearing for any interview, it would be really helpful, thanks..

that will depend entirely on discretion of the Panelists. They mite not directly ask you too much of engg subjects but they surely ask you if something links to your work ex. But they can at times ask basic q of your engg
@Brooklyn Thanks! Also, now that i have a 3 year work exp.. what sort of questions can i expect in the PI? Any chances of questions based on my engg subjects? (its been more than 3 years now, and i remember nothing!)
@supermario : well IMO u already gave the ans. Say to the panel the same thing, with a little modification. You tried to get an opportunity u could get in first chance but you were unallowed to participate further. Also, recession happened so having a job is better then no job

Few cents from me For my side .
How can you best prepare for your interview?
1) Well first thing to do is to be sure about your goals and objectives such as why MBA , Why a specific stream in MBA ,
where do you see yourself 2 , 5 and 10 years from now

Its your call entirely., But if you are wrong, then it will always be better to not support a wrong thing with whatever premise. Accept the mistake and then probably come with certain counter-view points on the topic that the other participant has said enabling for a better discussion.

You don't have to have a catchy beginning in that 2 mins time you would get to speak. You ought to make sense in the content that you will speak out (and writing it down is a good practice). The one thing that you can start practicing is the art of drawing of Mind-maps. This will allo...

Sir,
I m a commerce graduate and in the first year of mcom......
Vague in the sense that when I start it, i write down something and then I start wondering that It could have been approached in a better way. I don't get any catchy beginning immediately and write ambiguous things.

Well there are so many topics.. and I dont think one can prepare a composite topic list... which can ensure at least 1 topic would come.. otherwise.. everyone would prepare according to the list and ace the GDs....
does anyone have composite list of GDs from which if I prepare thoroughly, I can ensure that, at least 1 topic I would get common ?
