I am preparing to give my CAT 2009 but want some guidence regarding the same. I dont want to go to big name coaching institutes like TIME, IMS etc, but would rather prefer the private names or smaller classes?

I live in Delhi, can anyone tell me if there are any small class or induvidual teachers running their own batches for DI / Quant / Verbal ?

I am currently putting up in Hyderabad....n a working professional.
I want to appear for CAT 2010....but ina dilemma wch coaching institute to join in HYDERABAD...can anyone of you provide me the relevant information about the quality of coaching given in the institutes present in hyderabad....out of TIME, CL and IMS...

I am planning to go in for CL (as i am frm north side...n keepin in mind tat CL produces gud results as well,,....atleast in north yet...) so still in a dilemme....wch one to join...

I think coaching classes are useful but some one sincer enough than he/she can skip it but i will suggest that join any test series so that you be comfortable while taking cat.

from my point of view classes are very useful than the preparation with stuff alone bcause in class different kind of persons will be there so much of knowledge available..........
so coaching classes very bebeficial to the students............

All the coaching Institutes you have mentioned above are good but not the best in all parts of the country.Well,I want to say that,it's not necessary that the quality of faculties at one centre is same as others of any Coaching institute.It's always said,but this is not the fact.They differ to some extent.So,don't make a final choice by going just thru names.Try to judge on the basis of actual truth of all the coaching centres in your city.
Material wise I'll suggest Time or CL.

I have d study material of IMS, TIME and CL...If you ask my opinion then i would say TIME material is the best by far...Reason being they have a very good section of questions..from easy to diificult...As far as centre is concerned then undoubtedly go for TIME, CP or for tht matter IMS, CP....But IMS material aint good...I have no idea about MBA Guru..Go for TIME or IMS CP....ultimatly what matters is how well you practise....Good Luck! Hi pirate_rjack, in my opinion go for TIME. The felicities and faculty are comparable for both TIME and CL, what distinguishes TIME from other coaching instis is highly competitive peer group. Moreover the test series of time is one of the best.

TIME has got 2 versions of test series:basic and enhanced.basic has 7 invigilated cbt aimcats,5 non invigilated,5 pbt exams,10 cbt mock cats,2 workshops for iim call getters,web support.thats for rs2650.enhanced is for 4950.it has 7 invigilated aimcats cbt,7 non invigilated cbt,7 pbt,90 cbt section wise tests,8 pbt OMETs,12 mock cats.one exam got over on may 24th.the next one is on june 28th so enrol soon.

if u r disciplined n motivated enough to maintain high focus throughout the preparation, u do not need to go to any coaching insti. self study will save u loads of time n let u manage prep easily with ur office. u can analyze ur strengths n weaknesses n focus on them rather than studyin at the pace of rest of the class grp. n it gets lot better if u have a grp of friends to discuss ur queries n keep u motivated.
but if u r givin cat for the first time n r not sure of ur strengths n weaknesses,
go 4 coaching.
watever u choose in the end, do join test classes n analyze the papers properly

I hv a TIME classes CAT + Maharashtra CET ID card available with me for year 2009. I had applied for this course, but due to some unfortunate reasons won't be able to take CAT this year...and the TIME mgmt. is not willing to re-issue it 4 next year....

So i m willing to offer the course at a very discounted price...will be able 2 produce all d original doc(ie receipts)....intested guys plz mail me @

Yes, u shud knw basics to go to him, otherwise it cud be little uneasy. Basically its more suitable for ppl from science bckgnd. I think he gives first 3 classes to attend as trial class after wch u can get money back if doesnt suit u. (I dunt think any othr insti gives back money--- just read in sme previous thread). I dunno apart frm Byju who is good in pune, maybe Time or CL.

Look for CF,CL and Byju also. Ask if they give any demo or trial classes to see how they are. Byju will give u trial class, i had attended in hyd, it is good, not sure of others....just google for other info.

Dunno abt time, heard frm a friend in pune that Byju is taking a free CAT workshop on 21st June in pune at 11 am. Find out those details. Have heard a lot abt Byju. I suggest see this workshop and then take ur decision. his web is noesiseducation.com ....or just google to find details.

though materials are not exhuastive enough but they are rather good to build your basics and for exhaustive preparation one must solve as many qs and take tests as well as possible

i was an ims student who took coaching from them for cat 08.in my opinion the material for di and quant r not exhaustive enough.even the workbooks dont have problems of very good standard.they wont help u solve cat problems.dont refer them.time material is ideal to build ur basics n books like arun sharma and quantum cat by sarvesh kumar verma r great for practice.all the best.

Come down to Delhi and Join Either time/cl/ims of C.P or South Campus.
You will feel the difference. The faculty is superb at these centres.

CL's material was pretty good. The take-off and sprint packages had good questions..

PS: these institutes don't keep their best questions in correspondence material though... they save the best for the mocks

which is the best correspondance material....(only material wise).......time/ims/ or any other institute

I have finished my Engg from NITK and looking forward for CAT09. I am quite confused choosing the coaching class in Mysore. I have Checked both Time and IMS. I am not sure about their faculty and the quality of the course they offer.

IMS seems to be cheaper than Time (W.r.t Cost) by few thousand rupees.

Would appreicate if you can guide me in choosing the best institute.. Need to join ASAP.

Since you will be plonking down about 20,000 on a test prep course I think you should take one day to visit the test prep institutes for yourself to get a feel for them. Do check out PT Education @ Kingsway camp as it seems to be making waves in Delhi. Also visit the TIME & CL centres and then form an opinion. Where you are waiting for a month, might as well wait another day. I would recommend taking 2 test series of possible. Note that some TIME centres allow students to write the test one day late i.e. on Monday, so you can write one test on Sunday (CL or PT) and another on Monday as long as you take the time to analyze your performance. I took the crash course at TIME starting in Aug and got a 98.09%ile in CAT on my first attempt and think if I would have had atleast 2 more months I might have breached the barrier. Nevertheless, I am glad to get into IIFT this year. So cheers and all the best!
