Terminology VI

Bank reconcillation:The process of adjusting balance in an account that was reported by a Bank inorder to reflect those transactions done on the account after the repoting date.

Banker's acceptance:A written demand accepted by a Bank to pay a certain amount of money at a specified date.

Banking:In general terms , the business activity of accepting and safeguarding money owned by another person ,and lending it out to others so as to make some profit.

Bankrupt:A company,person ,firm or corporation that has been declared insolvent through court proceeding , and is relieved from the payment of all its debts after the total surrender of its assets to a court appointed trustee.

Bearer:The holder of a negotiable instrument.He is entitled to receive payment on that instrument as a payee in a cheque.

Bearer Instrument:A negotiable instrument which is payable on demand to the holder ,ir-respective of whom it was issued to.

I am a post graduate with first division..but i am unable to apply to PNB as they require first division in Graduation nd unfortunately i had not secured first division in graduation. I hv sent mail to the banks but no reply came..Can anyody tell me whom should i contact or who is the concerned person who can resolve the issue?? Kindly reply if any1 knows..

You cant apply in PNB as the criteria is minimum 60% in grad.your pg marks are not considerable at all.you gotta have min 60% in grad.even 59.99% will be disqualified.
Banks are very strict in their rules.

Back end loan:A sales charge or commission that is usually levied on the sales of an investment ,such as a Mutual fund.It is done to discourage selling.

Bad Debt:Accounts recievable that will likely remain uncollected and be written off.They are an expense to Bank and reduce the Bank's net income.

Bad Debt Reserve:Refers to the amount of fund that is set aside to take care of bad debts ,ie.the amount of money that will not be repaid by creditors.

Bailment:The temporary delivery of an asset by it owner to another person or persons for safe custody.Eg.Securites

Balloon payment: A large lump sum payment scheduled at the end of a series of considerably smaller periodic payments.Eg.Loan payment.

the company refused 2 give any document after that...

It will create problem for you if you will admit working in a company you dnt have documented proof.Make sure wtever detail you furnish in the application form is supported by documents.
If in interview they ask if you worked anywhere?
You can say that you were working in a startup KPO company and you dnt have any proof of that so didnt mentioned it in the application form.(everyone knows about private sector companies and their behavior with employees)That way you can save yourself but make sure not to fake it.dnt tell a lie they will catch you

Make sure not to give anything in written that can trouble you later

Appropriation:Refers to funds set aside for specific purposes.Eg.Debenture redemption.

A.P.R(Annual Percentage Rate):The yearly cost of a loan ,including intersest,insurance etc. ,expressed as a percentage.

Teriminology Part-II

Accrued expenses:It refers to those expenses that Bank has incurred ,and has not been able to payup till the specified period of time.It is referred to as a liability in balance sheet.

Agreement:A note that comes in action ,or force ; when the borrower writes down accepted in the note , in the presence of an accepted authority usually a notary public.By doing so the borrower promises to pay back the specified amount after certain period of time with its maturity.

mentioning mba will be a additional advantage but u still have backlogs so be prepared for the answer of this question

Hi Guys,I am new to this forum.
Have secured a decent score in IBPS Exam and applied for interview in Syndicate Bank ,Bank of India and more recently Canara Bank.
Wanted to share one more fact,though the eligibility criteria in interview was set as 125 for Union Bank,the criteria was later made(final selection for interview) as 166 for General and 152 for SC/ST's.

Had my SBI interview today at Gurgaon. Was a horror. GD was ok, Topic - " Is Judiciary crossing its brief"
In interview the questions were fine but probably my preparations were not up to the mark. Some questions
Q. Name some wild life sanctuary of South India ?
Could tell a few of North India
Q. Who is Misa Bharti ? What is her qualification ?
A Answered she is Lalu Yadav Daughter. Guessed her qualification as Engineer which is wrong
Q. 3 people who won Bharat Eatna in 1954 ?
A. I replied 1 as Jawahar lal nehru which was wrong as he received in 1955 or 1956
Till this time my confidence was at utmost low so missed 1 comparatively easier question.
Q. Where is Jaitpur Power Plant
A. Till this time my confidence was at utmost low so missed this comparatively easier question though i have read abt it.
Q. Where Kauvery river meets the sea ?
A. Again a sad faced sorry sir

Q. Longest river in India and overall ?
Q. This i answered fianally :)

N thn sm core questions related to my branch, i.e Civil Engineering n related to my job which i answered but they didnt seem very satisfied.

D docs got verified by 09:30am and then aftr d break we wer all asked 2 go to the library for GD.....there were around 11-12 of us....were mad to sit around a rectngulr tabl facing each oda.....d panel came.....4 of dem....2 were sbi retired officals, 1 was prsntly workin wid sbi and d 4th was a retired IPS officr.........
