I just gave my interview in Mumbai. The questions asked were
simple (for almost everyone today).

My interview:
When did you pass out from college?
A --In 2008

So what have you been doing? Where are you currently?

What is your job profile, what are your tasks?

So you say you have knowledge about banking?
A --Sir, actually, I am interested in this field because of
my current project at job. But basically, I'm into marketing.

What are the different types of banks that are established
in the country?
A --Privatised, Nationalised, Industry Development.. (this
was my answer, find the correct one yourselves)

So under which category Syndicate Bank comes under?

Ok anyway, which is the largest bank in India?

Which is the second largest bank in India?

Ok so tell me why do you want to join with Syndicate when
your qualifications are technically oriented?
((this is a very important question, especially for
BE/B.Tech students. So prepare this well))

But, dont you think your knowledge and whatever you have
learnt will get wasted?
((another good question. prepare a good answer for this as
well))
----

So are you willing to relocate anywhere in India?
((you know the obvious answer. but prepare a sound reason
for your answer too ))

Few personal questions....

Are you aware of FaceBook? ((they asked me this probably
since i'm a BTech CSE grad. So answers relating to social
networking followed by few more questions of the like))

My perception of this whole process:
1. In my opinion, the interview was quite simple. But, I
don't know if all PO interviews are like this. So can't
comment any further. But all I can say is to be prepared as
much as possible.

2. As I read somewhere above, "You need to have the ability
to GUIDE your interview well - naturally - into the
direction you want to".

3. Personal/HR type Questions would mostly be related to
you/your job/your qualifications. So prepare yourselves with
that.

4. Maybe the interviews were relatively simple because they
directly shortlisted us and called for final the interviews.
So I'm not sure if this would be applicable for all years.

So in short - BE PREPARED!!

me:explained them ( Guys don try to say anything technical..like my server knowledge or db admin will help the bank.. they simply put a bomb saying that its enough if u know to switch on/off a comp ... it had happened to my friend!!!)

Guys i had prepared a lot of banking related questions .. around 3 complete notes!!!! but not even a single banking related question from them..I am afraid how they r going to make the final list..

Overall it was an nice and a relaxed interview!!! now its gonna be a long wait for me!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys, my interview took place in Mumbai today. About the panel there were 4 person. The panel was cool & asked question about finance as my background is MBA Finance. Other questions were about the history of the bank, knowledge of banking & its operations. The most imp question was whether willing to serve in North-East for which my answer was obviously YES.

I would like to share my Syndicate bank clerical interview with u all.
Syndicate bank didn't conduct any test for the post of clerk they simply asked for 10,12 and graduation percentages. My application got selected for the interview which was scheduled on 12 Oct'09.
As i entered the interview room i saw 3 people sitting there to take the interview.
Q1 How you came to Bhopal by bus or train?and how was road and journey?
I replied- by bus and journey was gud.
Q2 What r u doing now?
I replied-Pursuing MBA final sem left.
Q3 How intangible assets are entered in balance sheet?
Q4 How a project is appraised?
Q5. What is diminishing marginal utility?
Q6. What u want to join bank?
Q7. How net profit is entered in Balance sheet?
Q8.You did a summer project on banking what was it about and what inference did u draw from it?
2 ,3 more questions were asked regarding academics.
I answered all the above answers correctly as i hav already studied them in MBA(finance).
Some HR questions:-
Q:- Won't u feel bad(being a clerk) to work under someone who is not as qualified as you?
Q:- We believe you must fill PO's and not clerical exams.What u have to say about it?
Finally last sentence which they told me before i left the room that- " You are overqualified for the post.

The results are out and i m not selected. But yaar still i feel where i made the mistake?

i gave my interview for marketing specialization ,there were 3 board member and all were cordial they asked questions regarding my background ,asked question from my work exp (i worked for relaince money as center manager) then they asked some strategies regarding marketing of banks ,branding strategies and requirements for new product development to remain competitive
the interview lasted for about 30-35 min ,my interview was scheduled at 9 am but my chance came at 2 pm so they r taking 30-35 min per candidate.

Be the best in your interview

Be the best in your interview,
the biggest reason most aspirants fail is due to stress they carry.
and never be able to perform to ther maximum.
small useful tips for all aspirants,
before an interview make sure:
1. a few days before the interview, prepare urself properly. read all the material about the bank and ur subject
2. a few days before start meditation to battle stress
3. at least 3 days before the interview, stop eating heavy, fatty and greasy food.
concentrate on having high protein and lot of water.
4. dont drink alcohol the night before the interview
5. try to take a proper 8hrs sleep.
if you are very apprehensive and not geting sleep.
wake up, have a class of milk, write down your wories on a piece of paper.
take 10 deep breaths..and then go to sleep
6. in the morning, before leaving for the interview make sure everything is checked up.
ur documents, ur letter, wallet, mobile phone,
7. try reaching the interview place at least 30min before time. this gives you scope to relax.
8. once u reach the venue relax. take some deep breaths.
if u a smoker.. make sure u carrying a lot of mint, to avoid bad breath
if u not a smoker.. .avoid smoking or standing next to a smoker as it can lead to bad odour from you.
9. before the interview, say a little prayer.. as this will calm ur mind.
also imagine how u gonna behave from the moment u enter.
10. as u enter the room, make sure u have eye to eye contact with those sitting, and maintain a smile on ur face.
greet everyone.
11. most important.. never create an image in your mind that this is the only option.
remember you can always succeed.

Q)Who holds the post for Speaker of rajya shabha?

So guys they can ask yu anything but be prepared with basics at least..

My Interview was for abt 25 mins..i answered 90-95% of the questions Except a very Few as i was not aware of them and did not wanted to make any wild guess

I had my Interview on 24th July at "Hotel Sojourn"- KOLKATA, I reached there before time, they first verified all the certificates and told us to wait for our turn, my turn come after 2/3 guys, I was expecting there will be lot of technical questions, I have applied in IT(Group-A), but they didn't ask me any tech Qs rather asked me:--
\\ why you want to leave Ur current job(I am having 3 yrs of experience with a wll known indian IT comp)
\\ Tell about your college life, what was your rank in collge
\\ Tell about ur family
\\ what you know about insurance bussiness
\\ what is the organisational structure of the company u work
\\Regarding place of posting and notice period (I have given 60 days)

Mostly the bord was cordial there are 6 people in the board, 5 are men and 1 lady was there.
That lady was trying to test weather I realy have experience in the said comp or not as c was asking me silly questions and interrupting me in the middle while I was answering.

Mostly one person was asking me question and others were listening to waht I said.

Overall I think I was able to make a good Impression.

Waiting for the results...

Any idea when results will be available...

My reporting time was 11 am and my intrvw started at 3:15 pm........ I was the first person after lunch....

Now I wanna give a brief description of an intrvew of a 2 yrs+ exprncd TCS guy ---

they asked him why banking from s/w - common qus.....
he talked abt CBS and server reltd probs and he can assist in those probs...
then they told if a person can switch on/off the system then it's enuf for a PO...... so ur edu backgrnd wont help in bank?????
so puys pls be prepared for that type of questions and i apprehend abt their thought for the techies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to this question i mentioned subprime crisis on which the panel member said subprime has only 8% role to play in it.i then explained a theory i read in an article by the famous economist swaminathan aiyer on how"black money acts as a buffer for the indian banks to which they were all pretty impressed.then other questions followed about my family background and education.then they asked about my 7 months work ex. in reinsurance and questions asked were
what is reinsurance and why is it done?
is reisurance required in only some cases?
in the end i thanked them for being helpful cause it was my first ever int and i was pretty nervous.they said dn't wrry u did wll.all in all the interview lastd for around 15 minutes and it was a good experience for me.

I got confused about Umbra and penumbra, I actually told him the definition of penumbra to umbra and vice-versa. he said that it is different.
I told him that it is confusing and solemnly withdrew from it. thought it is a good idea not to escalate it.

Apart from the above everything went very well. I was able to give them convincing and well put answers to all the other questions. Interview was swift took about 7-8 min.

Tips I suggest to other aspirants.
>The most questions come from what do say or what are related with you.
so be cautious while answering.
>Use Mr. and Mrs/Ms where ever necessary. My predecessors, made the mistake of not using them.
>Try to learn some basics about your state and place from which you come, India political structure i.e. about loksabha and Rajyasabha, President, PM, SC chief justice, cabinet Ministers, their appointments etc.
>follow current affairs of the past ten days at the least. remember people in news.
>Glance through RBI website, 'FAQ's, Press statements, RBI governor, deputy Governor.
>and of course read about the bank and its latest events.

interview on 16-10-08,in past i have given many corporate
interviews but belive me friends this interview was not
even nearer to any interview i have attended so far.or you
can say it as just an "introduction" meant to explore your
personality and you thinking.i diden't know when was
interview begun and when did it ended.

->College/University which you studied,
->importance of the different places you staying,
->great personalities born in your district etc.
->details regarding your extracurricular activities and your
achievements.
get prepare Positive answers for compulsory questions like
->Tell me about yourself,
->Tel me about your family,
->tell me about your previous job provder,
->your strong/weak points,
->why do you want joined SBI,
->why not using your higher qualifications,
->if you are undergoing graduate they definitely ask
->if we take you what you do your studies
->If you completed degree in more then 2years they will ask
what you doing till now.
->If you working why you want leave present job?
(frnds please give positive answer for this)

and also prepare daily importance /common knowledge of your
subject studies in degree or 10+2, like what is chemistry,
who is the founder of biochemistry etc.

we had 3 men n a lady to interview us.....one person asked me abt my hobbies and abt my plc and since i've written Tally as my spcl course ..they asked me to tell abt that too..

2nd person asked me chairman of SBI n finance min of my state..

3rd person asked me abt my native plc n abt deposits n loans provided by the bank..

4th person asked me abt the speciality of a famous personality Sir M. Vishveshvaraiyya as he's the pioneer of the KRS Dam built in Mysore- a famous tourist attraction ...and abt debt waivers of farm loans.....

Simple.... ....and within 15 mins my interview was over !!!!!!!!!

Keep Smiling throughout....if u dont know tell it frankly...no probs...they'll correct u if u r wrong.....

what is ram? and what is floating and what is gravitational
force,it is same for all materials or not

languages i hv learnt i replied c,c++ and now i learning
vb... they asked the diff. bet. c and vb

earlier days v used maintain separate record for each n
every person who hv account but after being computersied
as v type the acc.no. it display all the details..
then dd forms were computerised,earlier it was written by
hand ... then core banking...

next i am a throwball player.... so they asked what's d
diff.bet throw ball and volley ball

as i hv won state level certificate in elocution i was
asked to speak abt. INDIA for 2 min.

Here I am posting for you some important banking terminology that will helpful in your bank interview preparation. I hope it will clear all your doubts regarding different bank rates.

REPO RATE: - Under repo transaction the borrower places with the lender certain acceptable securities against funds received and agree to reverse this transaction on a predetermined future date at agreed interest cost. Repo rate is also called (repurchase agreement or repurchase option).

REVERSE REPO RATE: - is the interest rate earned by the bank for lending money to the RBI in exchange of govt. securities or "lender buys securities with agreement to sell them back at a predetermined rate".

CASH RESERVE RATIO: - specifies the percentage of their total deposits the commercial bank must keep with central bank or RBI. Higher the CRR lower will be the capacity of bank to create credit.

SLR: - known as Statutorily Liquidity Ratio. Each bank is required statutorily maintain a prescribed minimum proportion of its demand and time liabilities in the form of designated liquid asset.
OR
"Every bank has to maintain a percentage of its demand and time liabilities by way of cash, gold etc".

BANK RATE: - is the rate of interest which is charged by RBI on its advances to commercial banks. When reserve bank desires to restrict expansion of credit it raises the bank rate there by making the credit costlier to commercial bank.

OVERDRAFT:- It is the loan facility on customer current account at a bank permitting him to overdraw up to a certain agreed limit for a agreed period ,interest is payable only on the amount of loan taken up.

PRIME LENDING RATE: It is the rate at which commercial banks give loan to its prime customers.
