Seniors, Pls review my SOP... its for FMS executive MBA
The interview is in this week and this is the first time I have ever written an SOP

I am a Mechanical engineer 2003 Batch pass out. I always wanted to be an engineer working in the R&D; team greatly influenced by my Grandfather, my Dad and several of his colleagues who used to work in DRDO. After passing out from college I started working in the field of product development & grew from an Engineer in a small organization to a Project lead in ABC. When I was last working in technology, I was leading a team of 5 people and was involved with of cross functional teams for developing/executing new products for India. During this time I worked on several projects, some projects got executed, but a lot of them failed on the drawing board. Being a team lead/engineer it hurts when your project gets scrapped. In one such follow up discussion with the marketing team I realized that maybe I am looking at the projects from a technology lens and hence I am missing the big picture. In 2011 I got an opportunity to join the marketing team as a product development lead for NF products, I was thrilled to join because now I would be able to know the product development cycle and with my technology skills I will be able to play an important role in new product development. Since then, I have worked on 3 Mega projects and numerous small ones and I have helped bridge the gap b/w the front end and the back end. I am also able to understand the reasons behind projects being scrapped/shelved.

In the current role my profile as a product development lead is to ensure that the right products are delivered in the market at the right cost on time & on Quality. I deal with 11 functions to ensure that the project delivery is met from the inception of the Idea to the launch in the market. In the current role at a lot of instances I face challenges in decision making as I do not understand certain areas, like channel play, GTM strategy, Sub-branding of products, financial viability, product positioning, market research methods for NPD etc. etc. My expectation from FMS is to learn the fundamentals of Business management so that it can help me to get better clarity on project/product and also help me shape my career for the role of a category manager.

“From FMS I want to learn how to connect dots to make a picture in the world of Business management"
