I have been in Dubai for the past 5 Years, and i meet the criteria for NRI category in top B Schools from India. While my other option in mind is SP Jain School of Global Management, which offers an Australian Masters Degree. Just wanted to know which degree is valued the most outside India, Indian PGDM degree or SP Jain's Australian Masters in Management degree ? Kindly advice.

I have graduated from BITS-Pilani, Dubai in 2012. Am currently working in a IT Security Distribution company as a sales executive for the past 9 months. I have been handling accounts from Dubai and Bahrain for a certain set of products. Now the point is, as a fresher you only have a sales position in Dubai. So yeah like every other fresher i have taken up a sales position. I have some serious MBA aspirations and would like to do it in Operations Management. Now the company am working for is tailor made for the specialization am opting for, but my designation isn't. I want to know if this will be a drawback of any sorts in the B-School interviews i will be giving. I don't want to continue in sales and would like to switch to Operations.

I have very desperately been trying to look for help regarding my query. I am in the final year of my graduation (with an electrical & electronics degree). I have two job offers in hand and i am trying to evaluate both. One its TCS and the other one is MICHELIN tyres. Michelin tyres is a far promising job than TCS as they offer a training period of 2 years abroad. But at the same time they also make you sign a bond of 5 years the amount of which would equal to all dat they spend on your training abroad.. I dont have much idea about career growth in TCS. Pls help. Also i am not very keen on learning JAVA at TCS. do they offer core jobs? need some advice

1)how much weightage will being an officer on probation in SBI carry??the training goes on for 2 years so will i have any real work ex which i can show in b school PI's as proof of my dedication??or shall i have to wait till the probation period of two years gets over and i start working as an officer for usable work ex?

I am a soon to be college graduate and I have a few jobs to choose from after graduation. One is run of the mill IT consulting job at one of the top rated companies. While it seems like a safe bet, I'm worried that it I'm shelving myself into a generic category of MBA applicants. The other job is a core technical job, highly relevant to my course in Engineering. But again, I am concerned that I will miss out on crucial experiences that are necessary for business school applications (leading a team, innovation etc). There is not much scope for growth in this industry in a span of 2-3 years that I plan to work, before applying for an MBA. If any of the consultants could clear up some of my doubts, I would be grateful. Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, I am a fresher and have a convert of XIMB PGDM and HRM. I am interested in working in HRM sector. I am also a fresher with bad acads. I am also sure that I can get a better B-school next year while working. I have an offer with AON Hewitt for HR related profile. The salary is not that attractive but I am joining just to get some experience, also the company and profile are good.

So my question to you guys will be should I accept the offer and continue with my CAT prep while working or should I join XIMB as a fresher? Thanks.

So I joined this Hyderabad based firm in February.The work involved sales & marketing of environment monitoring instruments.The first impression of the company was great owing to the work culture,the range of products,the opportunity to explore various industries as clients & presence across India.Also the work involved sales & marketing of my graduation stuff(i am an instrument engineer).Initially I took two months of training at the head-office at Hyderabad.I was told that my joining was for Delhi office.Along with that I was told a lot of other things like work involved,salary,travel allowance(which is less than half of the original & practically impossible) & stuff.Upon joining the office here in April I received my pay checks,but I wasn't given any salary slips.Also earlier I was told that the Delhi office was a branch office but instead it is a mere franchisee.The staff consists of barely 10 people.There is no one to guide,I am supposed to work on my own.Upon asking for the pay slips the accountant said that "pay slips are never given here".Also the top management sitting at Hyderabad has asked me to report them the orders I generate but since the Delhi office pays me salary they have asked me not to do so,for otherwise they will not get their commission.Another thing is I am often asked to do "servant stuff" like filing documents for VISA,etc for the seniors at Hyderabad.I am hating every part of this job.Switch might be a difficulty right now as I graduated in 2011 but this is my first job & not many would hire someone with just a 2-months experience.It has been a rather barrage of my rants here,but these issues are eating me from within.Can anyone suggest a way forward?

You should accept the offer, work for a couple of years and then do your MBA. It adds a lot of value.

i would suggest accept the job offer ..as now a days B-school prefers students having work ex..but you have to study even more hard so that you can achieve ur dream college..there are many students who used to work as well studies and acquired admission in good college..

@jaylord every1 of them is a bpo process so dont expect any help in any way for ur mba plans!!! now that we got that settled and if u really hv to choose bw these 3 only, 2 factors come here...first n foremost u gotta make calls on where u ll get the maximum time to devote to studies without any stress n one where ideally there is zero stress, less hours and good team....if u hv a good percentile next year, you can always make up for everything....

Hi puys,Seeking some honest advice. I am working for one of the IT biggies for the past 1 n half yrs after my b.tech...Till now i was working with a technical profile role as was trained in "LINUX & C" until when i got an internal opportunity inside my company for an HR support role...To give you an idea, its a role in the Workforce Management Group, precisely in the "Freshers Lifecycle Management" which includes1. Intake planning for each year(e.g. how much freshers to recruit from which tier college & from which stream)
2. Onboarding & training planning(e.g. which batch to be trained in what technology & other training related stuffs)
3. Project Allocation & related co-ordinates
4. HRM related responsibilities-Fresher connect events, career guidance..etc..
In short its a blend of HR & operations role & i made it through GD & PI round...Now i have to take a call to accept the role...

1. cool job profile unlike the hectic one for a technical role, which i've been doing for the last 1.5 years.
2. a bit of hope that later down the line it will cater to much better & pure HR roles
3. if i will go for an MBA after 1 or 2 years(which i am still unsure, & would also like 2 seek suggestion how advisable is it to go for an full time MBA-HR after 3-4 years of work-ex), do you think i will have an extra-edge over my peers by showing this work-ex?

@mayuri87 - If you are just starting your career, give preference to the profile as I am sure you do not want to waste time in learning things that you are not interested in doing. This will help you build a strong CV and open good opportunities for you. You can give preference to the company, in case you can figure out that you will be able to shift in your desired area of work in a short span in the same company.

@NutsNChocolates - Proper time management can make anything possible. Work usually eats up a lot of time and preparing for CAT while working is more challenging than preparing for CAT when you are in college. However,if you have already studied for a year, then your fundas are in place and hence your focus can be more on practicing what is already learnt rather than learning from scratch itself. Hope this helps.

@uglyduckling But can one manage studies and a full time job? I had joined class in June last year and prepared for CAT for three months but couldn't appear for the exam. I plan to give it this year and I've already graduated which means I have lots of time in hand even after I put in daily hours of study.

hello puys... I've given CAT 2012 but could not get good score. So, I want to prepare once again for it. I'm BE IT 2012 passout. I started preparation for CAT as I came out of my college. I need a job now to carry on the preparation of CAT 2013. I feel that it will be difficult for me to get a technical job immediately because i have lost touch with my technical subjects and it'll take some time to brush them up. I'm thinking about joining some bpo(voice or non-voice). Will working in bpo hamper my chances of getting into a good MBA college? This is my concern. secondly, what kind of job is there in voice and non-voice bpo? What is the difference b/w the two?
