A great question. Something which was on my mind when the issue first came up. See the dates, its not new. But after so many people have complained - I decided to do what the majority wanted.

I am not the deciding authority on whether the nick was right, wrong, stupid et al. But when so many people complained , I had to do something.

Similarly, if enough people say that it was not a big deal , I can revert it. Its not my personal opinion doing its rounds here, rather the junta's opinions

Well, i am a die-hard programmer and most of the time am busy at it. and true to a coder's style, i don't normally bother abt the variable names. just give them ne damn name..i,j,k,foo, foobar, foodat, foodis... . just get on with the damn thing.

one fine day, amidst all this foo-ing, i decided to register at PG. now my name is rahul and thru experiences, i m wise enuf now to know dat ne id containing "rahul" will already be taken. so no point dwelling on those lines. but damn it, i gotto register, gotto get some id... ...damn... ....WTH, let's just name it FooGuy...and there goes this stupid id of mine .

Nice thread here Flyingkolours....as for why I chose my nick as "oxymoron" it's purely coincidental...my initial nick when I joined this forum was "Voice_of_enigma" and true to my nick I remained an enigma (READ: I never posted much till abt june.) Posting after a long time and wat a place to start.
To start off my username has got nothing to do with my commitment to world peace or otherwise.Nor do I look up to the so called "peaceniks" of the world.It was about 4-5 yrs ago that I came across this word in regards to Bill Clinton and his efforts in restoring peace in the Middle East.Kinda liked the word and thought it stood out amongst all the other usernames.And that is y yours truly acquired tht name as his identity. (The username has got nothing to do with my image which incidentally is opposite to the username.) :argue:
