I did scrap some of the people on orkut from time to time and was assured of the payment of Rs. 6,000 "shortly". Everyone is being patient but IMHO, now it is being tested! We are just 5 weeks shy of completing one year of the Bangalore AIPGM.

I have a great amount of respect for PagalGuy.
And I believe many like me trust PagalGuy blindly. Trust is indeed a big burden, and a responsibility to carry.
But going by the earlier posts and the time elapsed since last AIPGM, I think it can be safely assumed that we wont be getting our money back, but somewhere I want to believe that it is not the case because we were promised reimbursement within a few months. This is what I told my parents too.
Though many posts suggest that PG HQ people are trying their best to get the "promised money" from HP/webchutney, but nowhere is it assured that there is an alternative solution too? I am sure a lot of efforts are being made to clear things with HP/webchutney, but there must be some other way to handle the situation?
I have "finally" decided to go for MBA and I am counting my every single penny. I am sure you guys can find a possible solution to the problem being talked about.
Next AIPGM is on its way! And I would love to see it as another success.

I can say I very well understand your plight and I have been much more frustrated than you about this. In lieu of sponsorship of 2.24 ( after agency deduction) Lacs, we gave Webchutney ( on behalf of HP) inventory worth more than Rs 4 lacs. Besides the amount due to all the PG Members, more than 90K is due towards PaGaLGuY ( which we paid for resort booking etc).

The trouble is not with HP, but with the agency. We have tried calling/mailing them almost on daily basis, even going personally to their office in Delhi. What we are told everytime is that the payment will be released "shortly" , in a week or on similar lines. Sadly, our experience with advertising agencies has been similar. Scale this up and you can imagine how much money PaGaLGuY.com has in pipeline for their other campaigns with various agencies in India. It is as sad it gets.

Give me time till 7th Jan. One of our representatives in Delhi is going to camp at their office now till they give the payment.

I think that since I/we were promised that we will get it within 2-3 months , 7 months really ia a matter of concern. I'm not writing this on behalf of anybody else and hence presenting just my views. May 2007- 2008 ,I was really an active member of PG and more than that , I used to love PG a lot! I was extremely excited about the AIPGM but had financial issues . When we were promised that we would be sponsored , I went ahead to attend the meet. I trusted gnrs and also assured my parents about it who didn't have any clue what PG is. Now,after 7 months I'm answerable to my family. I'm sorry for writing it out in detail here but had I been working at that time I might not have done so...but I had left my job long back in 2007 and as such my parents booked the tickets for me.If there's some problem with the agency,it would be great if the people who promised us the sponsorship do something about it and pay back our money.Hope,everything will be settled soon.

Dear PG Admin,
Can we think of creating a fund among all the active members in particular for guys like me who are already into jobs to share at least 50% of the potential losses. You see the said "sponsor" is not in the best of financial health and there's a real threat of them not (in a position of) honoring this commitment after such a long gap, so creating a back up cash-fund will make a lot of sense specially when we are fast moving for the next PG meet and hence not solving this lingering issue can create a ever lasting bad taste for few puys.

P.S. A back of envelope calculation :-
Expected sponsorship amount INR 60,000/-. Losses to be covered up INR 30,000/-. So roughly 60 veterans (PG Oldies thread ) can contribute 500 bucks each.
Meanwhile by this we would not only be setting up a further step in strengthening our "community" but also can offer flexibility (and more pressure ) to sponsors to at least pay the 50% of initially committed amount.

:banghead: We have been following up with the agency almost on daily basis but not getting a proper response from them. Sadly this is the way advertising agencies work.

The last resort I can think of is sharing the contact details of the agency with all of you so that you all too can follow up on our behalf . If there is any doubt among the junta that pagalguy is not doing its best to follow up with them, I can forward the email exchange to few of you, rest is upto you guys to believe .
