the name was really desirable..just needed a little packaging..infact i think my username was very easy to market..others needed different thing to associate to and market because of a mundane user name ;)..i could associate my username to lot of hidden feelings of people :D

A wonderful contest on PG... something different from the mundane activities of inquiries about the colleges....

I was really looking forward for the Pagalguy to win.... who fired all cylinders and came from behind to lead the voting... From out of nowhere.. he reached a point where it was highly improbable for any of the contestants to overtake him so easily... Great acceleration....

But the twist in the tale.... "The Hate" had "The Fate" coming his way... His creativity and hard work paid and yielded great results in the End...

It was a tough competition and Hats off to all the contestants... I was having a keen interest to keep myself updated on this poll....

I would like to mention Clark Kent.. The Superman... probably he was the one to start the creativity thing.. and his promos had something attractive in them..

Nominated myself by changing my existing avatar ... thought to give judges something in avatar by which they can connect with me easily

Nomination post of hate was brilliant... sure shot one of the finalists ... thought i could make in rest 9 .. but others proved to be better

But, i did not loose.... as Tarun aka TI has appreciated my avatar quite a few times ... and reading his PM for same was great moment

Was surprised to see almost all judges supporting just 1 contestant ... so, decided to pose them a challenge by supporting my one of the beshtest fraands VR ( who was having votes in single digits when neha and abhishek were on a roll )

Slowly, we picked up and were leading .. till Shameem overtook even us as a true underdog

PMed TI for support ... he came for rescue and we released TRIDEV.. good surprise for others

Had plans to take neha as well in party before last day but nafratein went ahead and brain remained behind in making alliance with her

Modern day Chanakya TI.. came up with plan ...and shameem became the part of our party

In the mean time ... judges and few great oldies helped hate with innovative ideas ... and those ideas and their great implementation by hate brought him brownie points

Hate's nomination ppt and final round's song took him to victory.... others lacked in this innovation part

Our party won ... prooving we are best in Gadbandhan ki Rajneeti

Neha was best i think ... especially when she showed that we still have imaandaar neta ... i think others should learn from her at this part .

Kudos to all other contestants especially tarunceo , clark , imc , PC .

A special congratulations to the_hate for winning this amazing contestant, which to me is one of the most unique contest to be help on world wide web, i wont be getting into long speeches to explain the logic behind my bold statement but would make it fathomable by giving you all my five point gyaan about Coolest Avatar Contest.

Five Reasons which Make Coolest Avatar one of The Best Contests on World Wide Web;

1. The Creativity involved is superb.

Trust me on this you puys do such an amazing job at coolest avatar, that sometime i even feel wow..:shocked:, so much talent:D, i participated in coolest avatar 2 years back, when diablo won the event and trust me he was amazing, i came up with a very boring idea of "Lucky spirit of Number 11" and trust me, it was horrible from my side.

2. The Passion
Anything you do in life you got to have passion, without it you can't even move a bit, just to see contestants and their supporters come up with posts after posts of creativity and humour is something that i am really proud of.Three cheers

3. The Supporters

I am pretty sure that more than half of the contest is driven not by the contestants but by their supporters, as has been the case this time around too, the collabaration, the feeling of oneness that is being shown @CAC is unmatchable anywhere else.:D

4. The Perseverance

The Contest was pretty close from the begining, Neha, hate, rajamvarun and the underdog p@galguy, you all kept at it, i specially interacted with neha and p@galguy and saw the passion to keep at it in both of them.:)

5. One of the Closest Contest

As always,It was one of the closest contest, when i first saw the 10 shortlisted candidates i had one person in mind who stood out, then i saw another who was working pretty hard, than i met another who was campaigning so hard that the passion behind that was hard to ignore, all in all it was a very tough decision for me to vote on one and that says volumes for the contest.:cheers:

Hats off to you puys who have really made this contest a free and fair one, coming up with new ideas to make it more interesting and fair, you guys deserve all the accolades too, thank you judges for giving us this contest.

Got a video-parody of RajniKant, tried to edit it; wondered about whether to use it for the nomination round or the final round, finally decided to save it for the final round.

Saw raja ram verman Rajaramvarun lagging far behind and decided to be the Praja of our beloved Raja (one more reason was Naga's challenge )

I nominated myself without any idea of how this contest will progress. Got selected in the final 10 by the judges (a buggy thanks ) ... and now what .. get votes! Okay but how .. not an easy task!
Initially didn't get much time for campaign (office work :banghead:) .... met AC/Bluffy on SB who said "No excuses" .. kuch to karna hi tha ..
Tried to get Bluffy to campaign, but since I wasn't active for the first 2 days .. Bluffy ditched me

PearlCrystal: Very nice concept of Avatar. "Almost" sent u PM to support u, hope u cud have shown more enthu initially, story cud have been different ;)

Which was sort of ok .. since I accept I wasn't much active for the first two days ... ok so here I was .. with not much into the competition, not much out either .. trying to figure things out .. with no campaigner too!

I had already read that Alpesh had won the previous year (PMs played a good role), so started sending PMs to people .. some voted, so many didn't. Was not very encouraging .. 3 din ho gaye approx ...

Phir hua excess PM waala kissa .. ab yarr ... hum bhi kya karein. Learnt that PG was also sending so many PMs. A few good men complained, and I got a penalty. Wasn't completely guilty, but expressed myself on the thread and moved on ... I never sent a single PM after this episode. Releived! :D

By this time, I had got a secret advisor who was campaigning for someone else .... Alpesh .... Thanks a lot Alpesh for encouraging me/helping me out/suggestions and to tell me to keep fighting!
I also had got a star campaigner/supporter, Raveesh (Raveesh_Dream). Thanks a lot bro! You rock!

Wow! The Roller coaster ride finally ends! I "hate" to admit it but the_hate had to win!! Kudos to your creativity man! Before I go about on the thank you speeches, I would like to mention that,anything that was said or written on the thread was all in pure jest and no personal offence intended!!

The People I would like to thank

Will start off with my team and my campaigners! Vision,Bmr,Bala,intello,suneja,adityacool,anshul,MBA-,freakinda,sn.soumya and milind. Absolutely brilliant campaigning and some stunning posts,strategies and some startlingly subtle ways of blackmailing!

I then come to everyone who voted for me.Every vote is special but a special vote of thanks to >> or >> or >> Pagalguy for having the faith in the avatar and the campaign and choosing to vote for it,prem sir for not banning some of Vision's campaign posts(),sidharth for having followed the campaign throughout,members and cheerleaders of the DT,UDT and everyone who I pinged on gtalk.pmmed or met on SB..

I then come to TrueIndian sir for the idea on the gamechanging first alliance!! This was funny.Saxena calls me up and tells me "Bhai,hum CK aur IMC ke saath alliance banaa rahe hei"..Mei bola "Abey yeh kab hua?? :w00t:" Saxena bola "Abey TI se baat hui..he said..he PMmed u par tu reply nahi kiya" Then we discussed the plan...decided we'll take Neha towards the last day(which of course never happened ) and win the contest.That said,TI was the brain behind the initial alliance! Kudos!

Then coming to Shammimji aka Nakli Pagalguy!! Discussed loads of plans with him on gtalk which finally culminated in the alliance! CK without whom none of the Chaddi jokes would have been possible Spent close to 3 hrs in a day talking to him over gtalk or on the phone discussing strategies.

I also wanna thank Bluffy,neha,hate,vision(again).diablo,PP(again) for some brilliant humour on the thread,vivek,PC,tarun,IMC for some amazing creativity and the Team for winning the alliance contest!!

So where are the prizes?? :lookround:

Ok i may go bit dramatic but i'm really sad it's over.
Seriously, i had no clue I'll come this far in contest. infact, last wednesday, it was only one hour left for the nominations to get over and i didn't have single clue what to write to nominate myself. it was just cause of doc and assassin that i could nominate myself. thanks guys for sticking with me throughout. I'm not sad i didn't win it. i'm so glad i was part of this madness. it's the best experience i had on PG and as i said in my nomination post, it's brought me closer to PG. and special thanks a ton to Bluffu, Doc, Alpesh and Assassin for being with me. and yes those amazing survey and post was only bluffu's hardwork. never wanted to take credit for it but bluffu said just do it.
and Bluffu, i have no regrets the last post was by hate. he deserved it. we couldn't have let it go like that. i would have been really sad if he didn't post the PPT! dude it was his hardwork in the midst of his interview. i'm very happy for you hate. and so glad to know bluffu.

Ok i'll end by just saying one thing,was surfing tv channels a while ago and saw abhishek bachchan in add of rendez-vous, he said: Don't be sad it's over, smile it happened to you! :D

I would like to reveal to junta the last minute strategy of DA VINCI podas.
We had all given hope of winning as the vote difference was too much.
Then bluff and AC came up with numbers and we realized we could still win(individual category one) if I bag 25 or 50 points..1.5 hours left, Neha and team sacrificed their hardwork and ideas, gave it to me and I madly rushed to make the PPTs.

So I would like to thanks Neha,Bluff and AC for their wonderful concept in last PPT I made and posted the PPT but the whole concept of last PPT was of these people. Without their help it would have not been possible.

That's called a team spirit.

In my last 3 years on PG i have campaigned in the avtaar contest 2 times and incidentally have been on winning side both times :biggrin:

To future kaantestants - if u wanna win have me in ur team warna

Congos to Abhishek (who at one point in time acutally thought of pulling out coz of some personal hiccups - good that u didnt..and as i said tht i consider as my best contribution as the CEO ) Got to see some good creative posts from Pagalguy and brain team but i wud say and dont think many wud disagree tht the_hate was a clear winner if u only consider creative side of the contest.

Waiting to comeback again next year and hopefully again on the winning side

The numbers are in. The votes have been counted. And so are the names of the winners.

The avatar contest was started long ago by one user who just had this random idea to contest based on "best avatar" and it has gone through quite an evolution in last few years. Now it is one of the most awaited events of our calendar :)

My next post will be declaring the winner of this contest, as per the votes by the Puys and the Judges.

Before I do that, for me at least, the real winners were the supporters of all contestants. I do know few things about what was happening in background and could see so many times the supporters were more enthusiastic than contestants :thumsbup:

Loved the quality this year, and the bar has been raised by the_hate and others undoubtedly. A big thanks to every contestant, supporter, judge, voter from every contestant, supporter, judges and voters for making this awesome!

This years' contest has seen how hate can be actually seen in a positive way, has seen the unbearable sweetness of beings, has seen the inherent goodness and the devil in us and loads of fun! Follows below analysis by AlpeshChaudhari, our statistician, Judge and Winner of Coolest Avatar 2009!


Finally, after a week's roller coaster ride we have results in our hand. What a ride it was.

Let me sum up whole weeks journey,

Initially, as contest started, the_hate was leading the votes count, thanks to his creative posts & some big guns behind him. No one can get votes faster than MK, Diablo company.
Rajaramvarun started catching up with him with DT, UDT (& DDT. :p) connections. After 2/3 days both contestants had almost same votes & that continues till date.
P@GALGUY steadily continued his PMing string & managed to take over Rajaramvarun & the_hate by a huge margin.
Neha, banked on her sweetness & female factor. Supported by bluffmaster & ACs campaign, she managed a good sum.
And, then the big bang happened. It changed the whole competition & the way it was going on. So far barring few contestants no one cared for creative posts on the thread. After a fine & warning to P@GALGUY & PearlCrystal for PMing users too much, Rohit announced huge incentive for creative posts.

After this, the_hates creativity paid him huge benefits. Even Neha & PearCrystal scored a lot from this rule. Some really good posts came out because of this new rule.

Similar to last year, alliances were formed near the end. First, Tridev & then Da Vinci Poda. Eventually, Tridevs had to "evolve" to Four Horsemen & then to Five.
In the end, for the first time in history of contest, after closing of the thread, we did not know the winner. The fate was sealed in judges hands. After a lot of number crunching we finally arrived to the results.

Some statistics for fun =
The competition in total saw 915 votes.
the_hate had 166 votes excluding the judges' votes & then sum reached to 296. (130 votes for creativity. :wow:)
P@GALGUY had 238 & managed to reach at 263 after judges' votes.

Second highest gainer in votes - neha.visionary. 120 before judges' votes. Afterwords - 196. (76 votes )

Except 2 contestants (imcoming & born.vegabond) everyone has got votes atleast once, in judges' TOP 3 or TOP 6 list.







Congratulations to the_hate for being crowned as the winner of "Coolest Avatar Contest 2010"

Big big accolades to P@galguy, rajaramvarun, neha.visionary for giving an awesome fight and campaigning. The number of votes polled is more than double of last year, an indicator of Persistence Messaging and tons of creativity!

And yeah, the winning party is "Five Horsemen"! Should have played more politics ;)
