pagalguy @Neo2000 one of the reasons I didn't emphasize on the blog was because at some point everything sounds rather informational and invariably a certain level of chest thumping happens. As deepu said we'll see after some more work if we may bring it back. If a co. is really fast growing there are tons of stuff to write about, we are kind of in a stable place, until we launch the next set of stuff that we feel will grow faster. Am sure there will be tons to write about then. Until then it just was better to shut up and work

pagalguy @ashishpai2001 I agree with you that things have changed, mostly because of FB. The FB generation is snarky, makes one line comments and generally tries to look cool. But then hey, may be all teenagers were always like that .. just that the interface also doesn't support long thoughtful discussions.

In the last PG update, the article comments used to small and the discussions weren't as powerful as they are now. We thought it was due to a bad design in the old site where we truncated and showed only 250 chars and then asked people to read more.

Posts had become a terrible way to keep track because of quality issues. You keep taking a shot at spamming users and very soon no new conversation happens. I knew this happened for 2-3 years on PG where every mod shut down virtually every discussion because it had to be 'filed' in an appropriate thread that already existed. I am pretty darn sure we drove a lot of users out of the site. Not that there was another choice, the tech and designs necessitated that to keep stuff in order we needed to be heavy handed to manage quality. New users should have their own voice and shouldn't necessarily be antagonized. We used to ask people to read rules etc before posting. It was necessary, but now isn't because of the evolution.

I for one think I participate more effectively nowadays in the forums because I know what requires my attention and I know exactly which conversations I am following. It wasn't true a year ago. We all had to go thru page 100 - 250 in every thread and figure out what was awaiting us.

Should we do more on the community front? Yes. Are the rules the same? No. Sometimes it feels like people want the old one back (because it made them feel a certain way and also because it would have been better in a certain aspect). But the rules have changed. New rules? Totally! What are those? - they are up for discussion. May be the AIPGM discussion will help us frame those better. Also I guess its time we hired for the Community Manager position. With the current site and prep - there will be a renewed focus on building a community. Need the right people along

Neo2000 @pagalguy the idea was that people unhappy about changes would understand why they were being made and we'd maybe have discussions around that immediately rather than this sudden explosion. I'd also say that a weekly/monthly summary/thought-leadership kinda email/blog-post/article would be interesting.

pagalguy @Neo2000 true, we could have done a better job of that. Every week, we don't have interesting things to say. Mostly we'll do stuff and when it becomes big we'll explain. But I hear you on explaining some of the radical changes

pagalguy One more interesting thing - Some pings exceeded 10-15000 comments in a few weeks. We didn't imagine that to be possible. I mean a personal ping with 10-15K comments is kind of the size of a smaller website. It also was a hint that things had changed for the better. Sometimes we just put out the best tool out there and wait and see how people use it before deciding future course of actions.

no need for deleting the account. disable emails in the settings and then if you don't want to use PG anymore you can simply stop visiting the site.

ID cannot be deleted once created. PM a moderator (@visionIIM-ACL, @grondmaster etc.) with reasons and they'll deactivate/suspend your ID.

User Name can not be changed. PG has no problem if you are not using your own real name, it is fine as per the rules.
However, if you don't wish to continue you might need to speak to any moderator - grondmaster or visionIIM_ACL might be able to help you further.
