P.S: Not much idea on the pattern or the sections,so the confusion which topics(Math/Verbal) to study,concepts to focus on,time etc..

In my opinion, you do stand a chance of getting calls from ABC if you score well.

CAT these days is a complete lottery. So I can't take a risk. Moreover as I have already waited for 1 year & now getting a job will also be difficult as it would be extremely difficult to convince the panel why I opted not to work for 1 year.

Academic Profile: 2012 Batch pass out with B.E. in Electrical Engg.

I am not good at GDs and written material. Extra-curricular activities in Grad are more than enough.

Currently Pursuing: Will be joining as Software Developer in Bangalore in June 2012. But want to change field of work in 1/2 years.

Why PG? Gave CAT 2011. Got 76.4 percentile. Did not prepare for CAT. Got to know importance of an MBA degree in 2012. So found PG as a platform to get started.

Vision for next year: Give CAT 2012. Check score and plan ahead. My actual plan is to get into IIM A/B/C or FMS in 2014.

Questions: What chances do I stand.

FMS chances are pretty decent...my friend' brother got in and he knows at least 3 selected people who have converted their calls, but are not joining....so cheer up !!

this is the first time i gonna write cat or any other MBA entrance.
both my verbal and quant skills are poor. i hadn't started any preparation yet and struggling from where to start whether verbal first or quant. suggest me a good plan to get me out this confusion.

See it is already May so you have got 4-5 months left for CAT.And as you have said that you are a bit weak in both VA/QA and that you have gruelling work hours,it might be a bit tough for you to start from scratch.I would suggest you to think about your long term goals.Whether can you can drop another year for MBA or not.Prepare from today itself.Take the exams this year.In these 5 months you can learn a lot.It entirely depends on how seriously you prepare. Just because you are weak in QA/VA NOW doesn't mean you cannot triumph in these areas.Many aspirants do this and so can you.And scoring 95%ile is not that a big task.Use these 5 months to the maximum and you surely can work wonders

This is Eshant. I am from Punjab, India. I have done B.E. in Electronics.
I have been working as an associate software engineer with MphasiS for the past two years.

After 2 years in software industry, I see myself nowhere in future. In short completely confused about the career path.

Now I think the time has come to change my career completely, I have decided to go for MBA to get some light. I like doing things in a better way, executing plans to improve efficiency and managing things in a better manner. So considering these all factors I have made up my mind for MBA. And another reason is that I always wanted to do something big in life and right now I don't expect from software industry much as per my roles and responsibilities and scope.

I really want to get into good B-school whatever efforts it takes to reach there. But I can't quit my job due to financial situation right now, but yes if get good college I would go for regular MBA only.

I don't know how and where to start for CAT preparation. So I have joined this forum, hope this would help me to some extent.
