It has been almost 2 months since the journey at MDI ended for the batch of 2011-2013 and we are all still nostalgic about it. As for me, I felt I just couldn't leave this thread without the mention of two most important and rewarding experiences at MDI.

Dormant thread!! Hoped to get an overview of whats happening in the campus at the moment. But seems like nthng much is here.

A month @ this place and have loads to tell, of the amazing induction week and the even more amazing freshers and the colorful 'rang'manch but what beats everything else is the Tughlaq-like character of MDI, the Director Mukul Gupta. More about him coming very, very soon.

To the seniors, love you muahhhhhh. Thanx for everything, we mean it.

So I am back guys...just when everyone might have been thinking MDI people have disappeared...

Last night we had our welcome party thrown by seniors.
Will not mention more details other than that but Seniors here at MDI rocks
Had an awesome time and all arranged by seniors.

Kudos to batch 2011 - 2013

The week long induction for batch of 2012 - 2014 ended today :)
And needless to say it was fun, it was an experience, something I am sure I will cherish in days to come. Hectic it was.
The induction process has changed compared to what it was all these days in MDI. There was no yoga or we did not had to get up at 4 in the morning unlike our seniors. We missed it to say the least, as these are traditions of an institute, but anyways whatever happens, happens for good ;)

At first, I would like to thanks our senior batch PG11 for their tremendous efforts in all fronts. Right from the point of time I arrived at campus, allocation of hostel, Prayas the retail shop from where I bought the stationery for daily use, to class attendance, campus conduct, Seniors were everywhere, making our lives really easy :). Nehi to pakka ho jata mera yaha, afterall I am back to college after 5 long years :sneaky:. You guys simply rock .

Experience of induction was something really really special. It started with the all eminent professors and Deans of all heads addressing the batch. We had a complete taste of b school during the induction process, which included accounting class, case studies (and their preparation the night before), Lotus session , heal by clapping (yeah you read it right, you can keep all your diseases away just by clapping and we Mandevians know how ), lots of guest lectures, business games, outbound and what not. Would like to mention about guest lectures a bit more. My batch had 4 guest lectures in 6 days, which included HR head of a top notch MNC financial institute, an army general, MD of a government organisation who almost started his company, and a session by top boss of CII. All four from pretty different fields of industry, revealing their experience, definition of manager and management in their own language and from their own experience.

And off course presentations of all clubs by seniors for inducting us, their constant thrive to make us acquainted with management and MDI life protocols. They were hard on us at times, but it had a cause as well. My role number was also noted once , but I did not talk

Had our welcome dinner today hosted by MDI Director and it was awesome as well. Some nice performances again by PG 11 seniors and also the current batch. The complete scene was awesome. I would cherish these moments.

Class starts tomorrow, the most serious business. We are also given some big fat books by the library and after almost 5 years of work ex, these things really look scary.

Also am already in a plan to build a music band here. Already got in touch with a friend who plays guitar from my batch and he is bringing his guitar and other stuff this weekend from home . I need to get hold of the drum set in campus :biggrin:. Hope we can make it big.

Really excited to see how the rest of the days unfold in MDI

and induction week duration was from 21st to 26th......

with a new director in place things have changed a bit( read giga bytes )this year......
this time no more hectic schedule, no more late night sessions and no more earlyyyy morning sessions.....

seniors say you are missing a lot... and even i agree on this(may be we can have the 'hectic' schedule for 1-2 days).... but both of us have no role to play in this :grin:..... so we are a little (un)lucky this time :)

faculty seem to be good, lets see how it goes when classes will start :)....
mess food is edible ( for ur info i am a first time hosteler)......and yes a very green and beautiful campus

When i said juniors to seniors i meant batch of 2010-12 will now be replaced by batch of 2011-13 as a senior batch.
Our juniors will get to know with time what the legacy is all about. Its an honor to be a part of such a footballing fraternity for us and we believe our juniors will feel the same. After all there is intense competition against our derby team and we need high quality players.

I have one query.......i would like to learn golf.... do we need to pay for playing it and most importantly do students get time to play sports????

One needs to get his/herown Golf Equipment to play there. Nobody is there to teach you.

And yes, people willing to play get enough time to play any sport in MDI. MDI has a great sports culture. The trophies at various B-School tournaments exemplify this.

I must say i was surprised to see Karaoke night organized in the campus . Nice work!!!

After the seniors batch graduated, its their juniors turn to move up the ladder and take up the spot vacated by them..the first year of MBA is over and the whole batch is excited and enthusiastic about the upcoming internships all across the country..its going to be a memorable journey..

So the time has come to leave MDI Mixed emotions flowing through my head right now. Had a brilliant convocation today. Hope to come back to this awesomest campus soon :)

I haven't seen students practicing golf. Its not that, its not allowed but just that students are more interested in Cricket, Football, Basketball and other sports. Also I am not sure whether Golf clubs are available for the students. I have seen faculty and some executives playing sometimes.
But if you wanna practice golf, I don't think anybody will stop you :)

Even i love cricket and football but i haven't played football ever(been a bit of a gentleman all my life . no offence to footballers :)) but more interested in gold Becoz it can by played till the age of 60 :)(not that i want to compete on a professional level but it would be a good pass time once i cross 40 )

Back from Rural Illumina and the experience was truly awesome. Got real taste of event management and crowd handling ...Now looking forward to the urban version on October 23rd

Exam fever has taken over MDI once again. End terms begin from Monday and with final projects/assignment submissions going on till saturday, we are stretched to the limit this time.

And yes the most important thing, Section B has won "King of Kings"
We also won the points for the most Cheering Section.
"Daal baati churma, B waale surma"

Gosh!!I feel it was just yesterday when I was on the other side filling forms,giving mocks day in day out and preparing for GD PIs.Time just flies by.
All the best to all MBA aspirants.

Creativity ka Karamyudhh is finally over and after three hours of awesome finale, Section-A a.k.a Alpha-Q won the trophy!!!!!

Section - B (Ball Busters) are the runners-up. Great show by all the six teams. Really good innovations and creativity were seen for the past one week and CKK provided us with hands-on experience of marketing our own brand. Now, focus is on KoK where, err... Alpha-Q is slowly catching up.

I know sports was a concern till last week. But hold on we are in TT finals and yeah Phase 2 is gonna begin. And as you rightly put it CKK mein macha di section A ne!!

And how can we forget the important festival of Janmasthami? We celebrated it with the Matki phod competition for PG11 Vs PG10 Boys at the grounds next to Change Masters Hostel Mess. It was a treat to watch all the junta cheering for the teams.

And yeah as the PG10 have their endterms PG11 battle it out for Creativity Ka Karmayuddh which is a branding exercise for your respective section and comes under KOK.

i'l be appearing for cat this year! mdi gurgaon falls on the way to my college and every single day that i passed infront of it for the last 4 years, i have muttered to myself that one day i'l go here and fulfill my dream! now that day has come! but i have a doubt and i want it addressed by the seniors at mdi, especially the ones who gained admission through cat 2010 because you'l be the best one to solve it! anyone who gets into mdi gets a minimum of 96%ile in cat and since those who got in through cat 2010 encountered basically the same format of 60 QUESTIONS OVERALL (20*3), can you plz tell me how many questions approx. you got ri8 in the exam inorder to get such a %ile! ( I KNOW SUCH A QUANTITY IS VARIABLE AND CAT HAS SWITCHED TO 30*2 FORMAT DIS YEAR BUT THE ESSENCE IS THE SAME AND IT WILL GIVE ME A FAIR IDEA OF HOW MANY QUESTIONS TO GET RI....plz ans my question and pardon me for the long mesg! plz give me a definite ans!

hi, firstly this Life at MDI thread. This thread is for current batch students and alums to talk about our b-school life. So, ask your query on a relevant thread. Secondly, since every slot has different paper, there is no fixed criteria as to how many questions should be attempted for a fixed percentile. Plus pattern has changed this year so no one can predict in advance. Prepare well and give your best shot on the exam day. If you deserve it, you will surely get admission in this awesome b-school. ATB

These 2 years are when you can go out and stretch the boundaries... Try new things, seek ideas and innovate... These 2 years are when you can go out and stretch the boundaries... Try new things, seek ideas and innovate... The competitions are a great way to get the "learning" in a B school... so participate in as many as you can, but give your best to each... you never know when something big is around the corner... so go ahead, be whacky, and dream!

The Campus is in Competitions mode at present. Teams preparing for competitions like Religare Health Balance,LIME,Mahindra War Room ,JPMC'sThe Deal(for seniors),Avalon Finding Sun Tzu Challenge etc.
