Another interesting day @ SMOT, a creative day I must say to be more specific. INSIGHT INC.was here in campus facilitating a one day workshop on Creativity. It was really moving. The workshop was based on relieving everyone off their inhibitions and creating an environment for creativity. It was related to the present world, wherein creativity is bound within boundaries, there are rules, norms and regulations to follow in almost everything . . . and stil get creative in that closed environment.

Had this enthralling Guest speaker - Mr S Sivagnanam, Director, MSME - DI Chennai, addressing us for an hour. It was very important for every aspiring entrepreneur in us to get associated with highly acclaimed professionals like him, who spend their lifetime helping MSME's set their business up. Mr. Sivagnanam had given us some nitti-gritties regarding business. His pledge to the young aspiring entrepreneurs in us was to get to the Villages as a great opportunity to establish business. Serve the society and in the process of it make money was what his definition of Business was. Many technicalities regarding business were clarified by him to us. It was a power packed hour with him. Would have loved to have held him up longer, but that is all we could get of him in his super busy schedule I must say.

Done with our consulting course. It was a fun-cum-experiential learning throughout the course. All credit goes to our distinguished prof.Kevin from CMC, Canada for facilitating this course and SMOT for giving us this exposure. Now, looking forward to one more certification course and this time it's on market research. Very thankful to SMOT for giving us this certification course that would add extra credibility to us in the job market.

Finally, expressing it sadly though, our EMC (Essentials of Management Consulting) course has come to an end. Will be missing Prof. Kevin's classes very much. The last 15 days was draining but worth enough for a lifetime, CMC (Canadian Management Consulting) is recognized in 43 countries and to be a part of it, feels a great honour. Now that we are done with this, we are eagerly looking forward to another certification course on MARKET RESEARCH provided by our college and Prof. Ashok Sankethi, who retired as a President of top notch market research company and started his own venture called - KAY BASE, which is now rated the 9th best research organization by an American journal (do we need much more credibility??). We are so happy that SMOT equips us so many tools to unleash us into the market. Will update u all on the same as and when things progress.

As I said in my last post that the most important and vibrant season in any B-School is the Placement season, and here it is, today the experienced lot of my batch would be presenting themselves to a top notch IT firm, and expecting a pay anywhere between 6 and 10 lakhs of rupees. 3rd day of EMC and assignments are being completed in full flow by us and simultaneously the Placement season is on. We are feeling quite confident of putting up a great show. Most of the experienced candidates are looking forward to a giant leap. The Essentials of Management consulting program certified by Canadian Association Management Consultants (Canadian Association of Management Consultants) started today(06 Dec,2011) for 4T4'10 and 11C1 batch, a program that has very unique approach to consulting. 17th November - SMOT school of Business invited Mr.Murali - NLP trainer (www.happynesscoach.in), NLP - Neurolinguistic Program was a fun-filled, life-changer kind of workshop. It lasted for a day. The art of Breathing, the World's secret etc were revealed during the day.

V do have frequent guest lectures, chillout sessions, business club activities... Hello Everyone,

Been with SMOT for the past 6 months and from the 1st day i have been here there has been no looking back as every day was more exciting than the other. We had the Out Bound training which was in the outskirts of the city where in the 1st 3 days of class/course you are made to mingle with your class mates which in my opinion is the best way and a very creative way to help in mingling with each of the classmates who would be present with him/her for the next 16 months. That very moment will bring out the easiness in dealing with people and helping to do better in any work environment as one has to get into the work life and get settled with the people around you as fast as possible.

There has been lots of guest lectures wherein Corporates from top MNC's come and tell about their experiences which is very useful for prospective managers like us. Adding to BharathIyer's post above, we are given the freedom to participate in any events which will enhance the career of oneself by helping to bring out an exposure within oneself.

The last 6 months at SMOT has been eventful. Winning the international case study and a few Best Manager events across the nation has certainly boosted my morale. With an industry experience of 3 years, I am certain that the program at SMOT is certainly a value add to my vivid profile. The classes are more case driven and less theory driven. We also have Management by Movies and Management by Music which very few business schools have to offer. The Book Club is responsible for sharing knowledge. The class shares 1 book per person and thus we effectively know about 10 odd books in a sitting. In a few months we, the students of SMOT will be certified Business Consultants, receiving a certificate from CMC, Canada.

PLACEMENTS 2009 4T4 07 batch
The placements for the first batch at SMOT have gone well despite the global melt down. The strategy in terms of our placements has been different this time that accounted to our success. With the global meltdown hitting the industry majors almost in all the sectors, our primary target in terms of placements shifted to the SME segment industries, also with few exceptions of industry leaders.
Majority of the students in the batch were fresh graduates without prior work experience (4T4 batch). But that didnt stop our students from getting good offers. All the recruiters were very happy about SMOTs education standards and level of learning inculcated to the students.

I'm currently a final yr student of BSc (CS). I want to pursue 4T4 course at SMOT. I've no work experience. I've a Diploma in Multimedia. Had taken part in school drama thrice and was house captain in school for two years.
My acads are as follows:
10th- 71%
12th- 54%
Grad- Over 60%

Am I eligible for the course? What do u guys suggest me do to get into? Please tell the details. And one more thing- Doesn't this accelerated module create any problems in respect to conventional MBAs?

- The minimum requirement in almost all the entrance exams is 50% in all main exams. So you are eligible.
- It totally depends upon you grasping abiltity. I suggest you fill up the form and start the procedure. For more details visit SMOT - Top Business School in Chennai, 1 year PGPM equivalent to MBA, Full time post graduate programme in management or you can call me as well.
- There is no different between a 1 yr and a 2 yr programme. The content is the same only the duration is shortened and the course become more hectic. The accelerated MBA is gaining momentum in India. In fact there was an article in Paagalguy which mentioned that all MBA programs in India can be condensed to 1 yr.
