n belive me the canteen profit is zoooooooooooooooooooooooming like anything......
it;s very difficult to trade off n decide on the days to go for treat as the seniors are really rocking the placements.......

Well, the day was very long today for us. Morning we had a Guest Lecture from Mr. Vikaram , Head Operations, UPS India as a part of our Leadership Series.

The topic was on Logistics Management in International Supply Chain Management. One of the excellent GL in this year. Everything was pin pointed and he also didn't forget to add on how far Logistics & Retail is going to grow and what is the value of Operations management in the future.

How about your views guys??

Had been to Mumbai for 2 days on 29th and 30th November to attend the CII National Retail Summit,a good break from studies, A gr8 experience,got to talk to many people whom i had only read about in magazines, The Summit had everyone speaking about the vast untapped potential in retail and also the talent crubch being faced in the retail industry.Also Retail cos would look to optimise their supply chain and logistical network and all these calls for creative application of mind. What this means for us is that operations personnel are very much in demand ;Building sound fundamentals in these subjects could take us a long way; That has suddenly woken me off from my stupor and i have become more active in classes like scm; Huh,hope this enthu lasts for me

And again, the DW & DM. The whole book was concised into 5 questions that too without any choice :neutral:. My hands are paining.

Operations guru is back after a long recess.... thanks to the schedule here..... though on prima facie it may look to be tight, it is not.... i consider it as a launching platform for all of us to become efficient managers.... so think again before saying the schedule is too tight.......

i should thank nagz for flaterring me soooo much.... only i know how much frightened i was after i came out in one and half hour and guys were still there inside the exam hall cracking the paper..... i even went to the extent of thinking if some questions were missing from my question paper....

Sorry for not visting the thread for long time. Was jus for sometime due to some of my busy personal schedules .

Well, adMISSION 2007 started. SNAP has started sneezing and some of the surgeons (Operations Management ) of this thread would hopefully help you better to get rid and join this Warrior Parade.

Regarding Placements 2007, its all pretty fine. Yes, Laterals Placement have started and students are placed in Good MNC with excellent packages. Its not fair for me to comment on the palcement scenarios keeping our own Placement Coordinator PT (Eternal Optimists) in the thread . I would better keep my mouth shut and wish he would produce the complete report with figures at the earliest.

And ofcourse, as per our schedule, its just a month away for us to celebrate our last days in our campus. We are at the end of our Campus Life @ SIOM. Our Six Months final Project starts from mid of Jan. We will be back to the campus in early June only to collect our Diplomas

And one more good news to those who are applying for SIOM. As you all know Symbiosis International University has been established under UGC grant Act. And SIOM a part of this family , will also be joining this band under SIU.

Whats in for you??? Instead of PGDOM, you are marked as MBA(Operations)

Now it time to speak about the placements that are rocking SIOM campus. good news..no great news for the aspirants of operations management, the placements have started in a great way interms of both companies and in terms of the package. some of the best companies going only to the best bschools of the nation have been oncampus.

Hello to everyone at PG, this is the second time i am logging on to PG in 3 months, so went thru some of the previous postings,last year reddy had helped me thru with his replies, so this year too I am sure this place will be very helpful for ppl who want to get into SIOM, My personal advise would be for people to work on their softskills as this is the most critical part in securing admission.Softskills includes both command over the language as well as a good,humble attitude.Anyways this advise seems too early since we are yet to reach this stage of the admission process;
All the best for SNAP and SIOM is building its Brand Equity in Operations Management by the day, so for people passionate about a career in operations,this is THE PLACE....:wow:

Right , now let me put the records straight:I am never found either in the lawns or syndicate room, there is greater probability of finding me in the plc room where i make calls,speak to HRs,make reports, interact,plan,strategise ,implement,deliver....
I am sure we will get great results n me will be proud to post it here;
on a personal note, me getting used to this rigorous schedule, albeit slowly,but surely, (i am also a slow worker but i do not walk backwards (quote courtesy Aswin))

Well after a few days, the latest updates on the campus

* Ganesh Utsav went well with *ALL KIND* of response.
* TATTV '06 is moving @ a full pace.
* Reddy has lost few of his hair on a big fight Radhe regarding TATTV '06
* Half of the Second Batch are found either in lawn or Syndicate room after Wi-Fi has been installed.
* Madhu was missing, not only in PG but at times even in campus (ofcourse not physically).
* Ash_Godzi, is running behind Mgr.Eco books all that are available in the library to save his wallet
* confuzzled_09 is confused about the new project going around the campus and finally landed up with a readymade project Direct 4m Net :D
* PT believed to be busy in PLC meetings are often found either in syndicate room or Lawn , seems to be making PLC reports throughout the day ;)
* Yesterday had our Second Teacher's Day Celebration and heard from Operations_Guru, whether we will be having same kind of function for 8PM, Director's Spl and McDowell's too.
* Me doing all the stupid activities as usual and got myself confused. So now running round the circle to find out the corner of the same

Till now this is wat going around the campus. Apart from these, Trimester Exams for Batch II has been scheduled from Sep 11 (auspicious day ) . Hope this time nothing happens to the Twin Towers anywhere in the world and specifically in the CAMPUS .

i am not sure what's happening to my pg id.. one time it logs in while some time it scolds me with bad words... seems some vastu must be checked....

anyways as of the tattv, a milestone is the journey of SIOM and that too within a year of it's birth..... it was sucess in all terms, organising - which went on fine b'cause ash was fast asleep... had he been awake then it would be a different story... the corporate care - me n bajaj became a competitior for the TAJ security officer post... to such a extent that some guest to the hotel asked us to get thier cars n keys..(it's dedication not the other way around...) , our mama doing escort for 10mins n taking rest for 1/2 day in the TAJ Room....
the visit of the high profile ppl to our college campus...... all ended up well...
i had the opportunity to take the ppl around the campus n most of them apprecitated the. dedicated SAP lab, the WIFI facility , the library n the 24X7 Reading room....

the next task ahead is the summer placement drive n the final placement .... n the whole of the "Pandava's " - junior batch gang from south... will be @ chennai next week.... so in case some passive members of pagalguy need to get in touch, ur most welcome.....

nice to hear from many of the seeOMs. s...infact Tattv` was the biggest and the best event ever i feel any b school would have organized. whole event in Taj Residency. industrial minister as the chief guest. CEO iflex, CEO eicher consultancy, mali.......list goes on for speakers. HGL in SIOM and lots more.
the initiative by the pioneers was good but feel that the warriors would do it 10 times better. all this would have not been possible with out our diro and placement head.
hats off to all the seeOMs for making this a grand success.

SIOM is the only dedicated institute in INDIA for Operations management. people who are not interested in ops and take SIOM just bcos of the brand SIOM or Symbiosis would ruin ur life. so sincere request to all the aspirants is that "SIOM is only for Operations Management".

72 hours, Nashik to Mumbai and back to Nashik. That's one lot of pain in my body. For past two days, my whole body timetable has changed. The worse of Logistcis team, sply, Kaicker, Narayanan, Prakash, our Mr.A and Anup was those managed to sleep for mins than hours for these 3 days.

Afterall its for Tattv' 06. Everything went fine. TAJ Ballroom was jam packed with 300 & odd people whose capacity is expected only to be 200. Still the Venue team managed to accomodate everyone comfortably inside the hall.

Nagz helped us to have our food even when we violated the timings of Lunch & Tea Breaks . Thanks Dude!

Overall, the event went very well, with positive feedback from big shots. Well I have shared some of my travel experience with Mr. Mahalingam, Sr. VP HR of Symphony Services, Banaglore in my Blog - Gundu Mama . Just take a look and comment back.

greatest thing tat is happening in our campus apart from Tattv is HGL (Human Growth Laboratry). i request Mr. Ashwin to through some ligt on it, who happens to be the co-founder. i can only say, it is first of its kind in Indian B-school history.

Hi madhu ,yes the nxt greatest think happening in SIOM campus is HGL,some call it the mental Lab(in the lighter sense,me its CMO!!! along with Arti,the other enthu CMO) and this is a concept started by our very own faculty (Rashmi sharma)and have planned its inauguration in a big way along with Tattv.
Dudes my work is shifting bet tattv n hgl n also chrysalis,quiet often
HGL is an umbrella designed to carry out research and model ,experiments in various dept like finance,mkt,oprn etc.
V have got r very own lab to work in in the 4th floor
have created a groups called hgl_siom@yahoogroups.com, madhu n rest kindly join n gain the benefits of this lab. this will also provide an interface bet organizations n SIOM as well

everyone's mood here in SIOM is really upbeat after the first trisem exams (which in a way was a good stress management program) except for Ash_godzi, as he is still praying for his economics exam which in a way was a reason for planning our trip to trimbakeshwar and vani temple.

to say about trimbak, it is one of the 12 jyothirlingas situated in India. In short our trip started at 8 in the morning with 10 of us both from senior and junior batch started from college it took us nearly half an hour to reach there. wow!!! what an awesome place it is we had a good darshan and ofcourse everyone was praying for ur exam results. from there we planned our trip to vani temple which is almost 70 kms from nashik. It is the most beautiful temple i have ever seen situated on a hill top the view from the temple was simply superb and it was a tough task for Herby of our batch to climb up but when he reached up he was in full form started writing enlish poems(he says so ) for the scenary overall it was really a good time for each one of us.

oops.... guyz need to go for tattv06 preparation activities see u later....

im back after some fire fighting and a big battle with the question papers and the supervisors..... we had two battles per day.. it was actually good.. we were being trained for the stress ful life after the two years at this institute..

it is true tat ash_godzi was after the economics book in the library.. he was not able to get his hand to even one of the 15 copies available.... i hope he gets the book atleast the next trimester...

after the exams, there was one full day of holiday to relax our exhausted souls.. it was rejuvenated by the way of a trip to triambakeshwar and Vani.. im restraining from writing anything abt it because of the request from the new pagal member NAGZ... carry on nagz and enlighten all abt the trip....

the mood in the college was upbeat during the two days during which people from Colgate Pamolive had come for a refersher course on SAP....

ok me wanna go to present the research presentation..

i have joined this group after our class mama and all others created so much pressure (peer pressure)... you wont beleive if i say that i created the account at about 11.50P.M. i was not alone when i created the account.. there were about seven guys surrounding me and bomarding me...

and now to come to the real matter.
the ganesh utsav that is going to be conducted in our college is indeed a big one as emphasised the others before..
being form south india (chennai), im really eager to see the utsav.. i have heard a lot about the pompous celebrations.. now is the time to see it and enjoy evey moment of it..

but im not sure if i would be able to see the utsav at all because of the series of competitions and events organised.. there are going to be events like creative writing, business quiz, mythological quiz, face painting, crisis management, bajan singing and lot many..

so gear up guys and be ready to rock...........

ya, though it's a irreplaceable loss for mama, he'll surely get out of this pretty soon, or rather he's got out form this situation by begining his downloading activities right from the morning 6.00 when the lab was opened... heard that he was here some 30 mins before hand n was sleeping in front of the lab doors.....

anywyas reddy, of all the events in the utsav all of us would be willing to take part in one significant event, face painting.. n i need not say who's face all of us would be willing to try our hands...... though we tried it in the b'day night this week...... still we can't afford to miss this opportunity right????
