As mentioned earlier the 18hrs session of art of living ended today morning for all the boys on a high note, we did some of the craziest thing on earth(close our eyes and dance like frenzy..to music..)..actually were made to do it....there was also special breakfast after the session which ended at 10 in the morning. We started at 5 am in the monring all thru the week. One more interesting activity for us ends, but for the girls it will start from Monday along with a few lucky boys who missed out in the week with us.

The course was conducted my a Mrs Gitanjali Rai(a Ghazal Singer here in Pune and among the top 8 teachers of Art of Living, also a mini celebrity here) and her husband Mr. Kishan Rai, a top corporate trainer also belonging to the elite band of art of living teachers.....!!!

Hmmm...life is surely onn the fast drive here at SCMHRD!!
Many of my batchmates have left for the Admission drive ..wherein they visit cities and talk to all potential SCMHRD applicants to dispel their doubts and disseminate information on the college at Coaching Centres and Colleges across these cities.....also the Corporate drive of which I too was a part is over with students visiting corporates to invite them for the final placement of the senior batch..whioch starts in a few days time!.....

Also we guys from today have just started a course on "The Art of Living" from 5 to 8 am !!!! Seems interesting and will continue till friday that is for 6 days in all......

Second semester has begun at SCMHRD and it promises to be just as rigorous and interesting as the first... Placements were the highlight of the first sem (Got into INTEL... )... There have been some really amazing companies on campus... Intel, CB Richard Ellis, Hewitt associates, HLL, ITC, Marico, Progeon, Reckitt Benckiser, Coke and the list goes on... My very room has distinguished personalities who will be going to Marico and CB Richard Ellis... The laterals for the senior batch start in about 2 weeks and final placements start a week after that... Calls have been pouring in from corporates wishing to book their slot on Day 0...

Considering the pace at which our college is growing in stature and importance in the corporate world, i cannot even imagine the ripples that SCMHRD will create in the coming few years... The rumour that it is a niche HR college is disappearing quickly and being replaced with a killer reputation... This is not surprising considering the fact that we have such a dynamic director whose vision of seeing SCMHRD at the top can only be matched by his speeches which ignites fire in our bellies...

End terms over at SCMHRD for PDDM-I and we begin with our second semester here(its a semester system out here unlike earlier when we had a trimester system)..exam were long and ardous.....the second sem has started with we having to choose electives ranging to a total of 4-5 credits and we call this the cafetaria approach...since a marketing guy need not necessarily take all marketing electives..he can go for mix of subjects from other fields too...
also the non-academics which we had to attend daily last sem have been made three days a week with time extended from 0.5 to hr. and its meditation in place of aerobics this sem!! the climate here by the way only promises to become much more cold ....and its really freezing here in Hinjewadi, infotech park in the mornings....

okies....am reviving this thread after a long long time....have not done justice to either this thread or mah blog....

anyways...the last few days we really have had our hands full....average sleep has gone down to 2 hrs..:shock:

summer placements have started.....moi headed to Reckitt Benckiser...sales and marketing...some of the other companies on campus as of now have been GSK, CB Richard Ellis, Hewitt Associates, Coke, ITC, Mahindra, L&T;, Godrej, Cadbury, Marico, HLL, GE, Dr. Reddys, Glenmark, Wipro....huh cant recall the rest...many many more lined up

seriously recommend the college as a must apply ...the college really is doing justice to the students in the placement area.

end terms in 2 days....am totally fucked

had two events...an HR conference and a six sigma award event...both resounding successes....banking conclave planned for nov 19 in taj palace, mumbai.

And ofcourse the placement was very good for SCMHRD last year. The poeple walked out with a pay package of upto 12Lp.a. from the Pune branch. The SCMHRD guys have started for the Summers right now itself. And they are spuring like anything to bring companies in the campus.

BTW what's your qualification ? Are you studying in SIOM ????? What is that insti and where it is ?? How is this insti ?? Are you onto Operations Mgmt or you are trying for this insti ??

ohh man.....it has been raining continuously for that last 7 days here

dont remember a strech of even half an hour when it did not rain....not all teachers here follow the case study method of teching...perhaps its not suited to all subjects anyway.OB is one subject where I think our faculty applies it very well...

am trying to make sense of accounts...with 35 CAs, a major percentage is accounting literate...have a lot of catching up to do

had a guest lecture by Dr.Kiran Bedi today....she talked at length...moi somehow found her to be self-glorifying and a bit of a feminist...

It has started raining here.....In delhi the clouds used to think for hours before raining but its not the same in pune...here it just pours down...thankfully the campus has an amazing drainage system.

had 3 exams yesterday...3 today....running from pillar to post.

had fun representing the batch in negotiations with companies on the laptop deal....have finally closed it with HP...amazing configurations at dirt cheap prices....its a steal

Guys If u know that SCMHRD Nasik campus is now SIOM-Sym Inst of Operations Management.
This istitute will be working on similar lines to SCMHRD-MoM course...

Well to tell u all....I am a student of SIOM...we started on 1st of june....the life like told by many people is very hectic.....and hardly any free time is obtained.....

Wont it be better if any of the guys from SCMHRD-MoM get in touch...so that we cancompare syllabuses....faculties and all.......

I'm now really envying all you People out there not at SCM....I mean those leading a normal life ... We at SCM have simply been put on a roller coaster ride with no stopages .. The duration of the ride is 2 years and the stakes in the end are high ofcourse ..we earthlings are expected to be tranformed into some superhuman breed ..and beleive you me ..Now we think its really not humanely impossible ... atleast that is wat our Diro belives (man ..wat a magician of words he is... really ignites the fire within )...

Life here is screwd up ,hectic , demanding ,sleepless ....the list goes on.. But all of us know its the JOURNEY THATS THE REWARD ..

( ps --> am really missing my Dilli , mom's food and my frnds out there )

The one big thing @ the bacth of 2005-2007 here is the boys and girls ratio is amost 1:1.
Man....thats some thing I say in a B-School!! Two days since classes started ..class groups for assignments formed...ppl have started working them on too..seems the next two years r going to be gr8 on campus....the director has affirmed his confidence on the batch after the Outbound learning Program.....

wokay ....what a feeling to be back on PG.

have been getting my rear kicked big time.After all those hours on Pg and the chats to seniors I had come to expect that the course wud be rigorous...but this really is in your face.Have been getting up at 5am since the day I arrived here...the maximum stretch of sleep has been 5 hrs(I know I was fortunate that day).

The batch strength is 225 and close to 60 percent are engineers....workex to fresher ratio I think is close to 1.5:1...will post the exact statistics when I get to know em.

the campus has gone wi-fi.

The faculty is very very good.Most of them are IIT-IIM and its an absolute pleasure to hear em..

for ppl who may be looking to apply to SCMHRD...the director is working overtime to make sure the institute moves ahead by leaps and bounds.You can feel that sense of optimism in the air....

I'm Finally at SCMHRD ... Met lots of people alredy ..gud to meet out online symbiwale gang in person..

Most of us are in the same ship ...with some left with ppts ..some with their reports and some with everything ..

Landed here ystreday at SCM at 4 pm along with amit and met sunil,saurabh sakhuja,vritti and vasudha ..

Rooms are cool .. and the ambience at campus is simply superb ... it being located in the lush green laps of nature ..weather is nice and pleasant

We hav been given the 1st sem detailed syllabus and the schedule .. looks like a daunting task but guess thats wat is meant by the rigorous itinerary of SCMHRD ...

Thats the news from here now ...will keep u ppl updated ..

Hey Shivam, please don't malign the image of a B-School like this. Yoga and Maunvrat are part of Indian culture and if you don't like these things, chances are that you don't like Indian culture too. Even the Americans are turning to Yoga to keep fit, so it is not fair to say such things. Probably you are not the right person to comment on Life@SCMHRD, because you can't know everything about a place in one day.

hi, this is pooja currently pursuing PGDM from SCMLD pune . This institute has been started by ex-SCMHRdians our director is Prof.MSPillai. Life is bit tough but enjoyable . Last year had lots of outbounds and hoards of guest lectures. Outbound is all abt fun. Schedules are all erratic no certainity . Hope u turn out with flying colours.
