@ramapriyan:
first of all, to get thru LIBA or as a matter of fact, any top-notch B school u need to clear the reqd sectional cut-off. Last year, it was 82 percentile in QA in XAT.
HR in LIBA is good. In fact, last year it won the Devang Mehta award for the best HR syllabus among all B schools in India. Owing to recession, last year due to recession the HR students did get placed with greater difficulty than the other specializations.
Apart from Finance and HR, the other specializations on offer at this moment in LIBA are Marketing and Operations. Now to specialize in Finance, u need to know quants, but let me tell you that here at LIBA we do have several arts grads opting for core FIN and doing very well at it. I think the attitude rather than the aptitude that matters.
For placements, u may or may not have to appear for quants apti test. It solely depends on the company and who said only Fin ppl need to appear for it?
In the end, I would advice at this point to focus on XAT, get the reqd overall and sectional percentiles. then work on GD and PI. get through LIBA, see for yourself which subjects u like and then decide which specialization to take. Its ridiculous to decide on it so early and with so much of biases! All the best!
