Our Way, The IMT Way

I might be sounding a bit repetitive here, but I'm going to exercise my right to go off topic here ...

Who are the IMT Junta: We are a crazy concoction of the most wonderful people you'd ever meet (eg: Mr. Ankur Vohra.... and not to forget.. me! hehe)

So, just to give an upd8 on what's happening here, I'm going to quote the speech by Albert Frankenstein Googo Bertie, the founder of the tiny speck of dust that sits on a single molecule of a bar of liquid soap..... "Hugs are free, Huggies aren't!' Just Kidding!!

The real picture here ladies and gentlemen: Everyone's busy, gearing full speed ahead for exams... Can you believe it?? :w00t:A week more to go!!
I just want to freeze time.. but I'm sure a lot of people here wish it would go faster, brilliant prospects ahead of them I hear.. you know..with the placements and internships happening now

Every night I look for a study room, there are more study rooms here than you can count people!! And there still ain't enough.. everyone's studying.. aren't we, IMTians all a studious, brainy bunch, studying late into ungodly hours of the night...;)

The library during the exam weeks are open till 12.00 am.. Thank God for that!.. coz for one, I so cannot study in my room... might be the ultra coziness, but I'm asleep in minutes with my face encompassed between the laptop and pages of my textbook.. Not a pretty sight.. I tell you...

Personal update: I'm in a study room, yes, in study room 4.. right now.. I came, booked it early, its mine today..Muhahaha... around me are my bags, and books.. my friends will join me soon...( secret: I'm a early bird... can't sleep too much... automatic eye opening with 6-8hrs of sleep..HOWZZAT!!)... but I'm must warn you people, sleep deprivation does funny things.. so do not try it at home.. or any where else.. LOL;)

Oh yea, almost forgot...Advertising guest lecture at 3.00 pm today!! Looking forward to it!!

Someone's Watching Over Me @ IMT Dubai

The semester is almost done, countdowns always begin at the start, and none realize until the very end!
Now's the time to know, that things shouldn't be put off for long...time to act.. time to have no regrets whatsoever..!!
All I know is yesterday is gone
And right now I belong ,To this moment to my dreams

The end of the second semester marks the beginning of two things.. nope, three things:

1. Internships-Companies seem to pouring in for internships left right and center now. Everyone's applying. Hearty congratulations to all the junta who got in (incl. me):biggrin:.
   
   
2. Specialization- This is the turning point for all of us. For all of us, it's going to be the decision..Something that's going to probably affect us for the rest of our lives... But no worries.. No pressure..
   I've chosen mine: Marketing and Retail Management. Didn't even think twice. Knew I always wanted this. :)
   
   
3. One Year Left- Just two, tiny, short semesters to pass by. Didn't even notice how the last two flew by...As the time flies, it gets even more difficult to let go...And now.... There's only a year to go. ...Not that I want to stay longer than that
   

It doesn't matter what people say, And it doesn't matter how long it takes
Believe in yourself and you'll fly high
And it only matters how true you are ,Be true to yourself and follow your heart
We choose our destiny, but how we reach it, isn't our hands, We make the story, not the script...At times, I'm sure we all think, this really wasn't what we had in mind.. I know I do..but I've got no regrets

Life is a real tricky thing..catches me by surprise no matter how prepared I am...And I like it that way

Nothing is perfect, though somethings seem to be...but even if they aren't...aspire, dream big, dream the impossible, for the best things in life don't come all that easy....and who knows, you might just get what you want..

Here's something I've been meaning to write for sometime...

The Tale of a Pair of Pointy Heels -My pointy heels to be precise... :)

I own a pair of ridiculously gorgeous black heels...crafted to go with any formal wear.... Suits, pants, skirts and dresses... you name it!:cheerio:

I own a pair of atrociously uncomfortable two inch high heels.... What in the world was I thinking when I bought them? ? But then, I don't think I was...;)we'll come to that later....:)

Both the pairs I've described so lovingly above are one and the same!...

Fact and definitely not fiction: These heels are called pumps... I really have no clue why... Mine definitely don't look like pumps..!! I even checked Wikipedia to make sure!

Why I bought them:

1) Desperately needed a pair to complete the look for something the next day...

2) Four months of fruitless search to find the perfect pair.. and I finally ran out of patience!:banghead:

3) Got a real sweet deal on this one.. DSF and all...talk about being in the right place at the right time..! Or maybe not..!!:oops:

4)I look really good in black

Confession: I can't walk in pumps...I'm totally jinxed...they truly are uncomfortable, believe me... I can wear heels.. I own five other pairs....not to mention my sandals, flats and floats!:biggrin:

Click-tap, clicketty-tap, ouch!... If you've heard that.. :Welcome to IMTD...'coz that was probably me and my botched attempts to find a graceful pace at any of the following events:

1)the three days of ICTBM-10 (International Conference on Business Technology and Management 2010) .. This prestigious baby was held at IMT-D from March 16th-18th 2010, awesome!
Proud to be one of it's coordinators..even got an official pen with my name embellished to prove it But that story is for another day.

2)All guest lectures that I can't get away with wearing my perfect silver sandals... There's one scheduled for next week on Advertising...
Looking forward to it...:biggrin: Not sure if my feet are though!

3)All classroom presentations...... There are a lot....and they're fun;)

On these days, I am nothing short of an old man with a walking stick... and boy,my feet were killing me..!! ...

I often ask the other girls.....how do they manage... They see nothing perplexing about pumps... Practice they say to me....:nono:

And I have....If practice makes one perfect , then I'm not so sure if I want to be perfect at tripping over my own feet... Which,by now I'm pretty good at:biggrin:

Anyway... What's in a little shoe bite or sore feet....What else can ever compare to a wonderful life @ IMTD? ...experience is definitely the best teacher..!!:)

This mail is in response to the myriad threats that i have been receiving from my Hostel Mates, ever since i thanked only IMT-Dubai Girls for their encouragement and support to me over the last 2 years. Guys, Please understand you are closest to my heart, wanted to thank you at last but now as the things stand, i really do want to get inside my A Block room, so writing from the corridor to thank you.:biggrin:

So,here goes, I want to thank the Entire Gang of Boys Hostel Gang For:

1. Late Night "Global Gyaan" talks.
2. Last Minute Deadly Examination 'Phodu' ( Killer) Tips.
3. Giving me the First use of the Oven, when i really needed my Maggi Quick.)
4. For Almost Killing me on My Birthday with the never ending Deadly Birthday bums.
5. For sharing your Iron Press, Coat, Pen Drive with me whenever i needed them most.
6. For that ever so lasting games of counter strike and cricket, to which i most was a spectator, cause really "Go kill" is not my cup of tea.:biggrin:
7. For Just being their for me whenever i needed some one to talk to.

And last but not the least, i want to thank you for those smiles and dreams, we shared, i am pretty sure as we set out on to achieve those billion dollar dreams, these two years will remain with us forever.

I've written once before here...: that was when I wanted to apply to the Media Committee - IMTD..

And I got in... Go Team METH...but that was all last semester....Ever since that, I wanted to write many a million times.. But somehow.. I couldn't..
But today I'm inspired....I simply don't want to leave anything unsaid.... and so full speed ahead, I say

It's my second semester now...almost the end of the semester..and a lot of things are happening around me here...placements, internships, projects, reports, case studies, up coming events and of course Team METH continues to rock on and on!!:cheers:

This time of the year people are busier than ever. It's decision making time. Time to look ahead.. Try to figure out a small part of that obscure thing we call: the future!

But now that exams are around the corner,the campus seems more occupied than ever ... or maybe a smidgen empty... I can't decide which..

And to think, in a few weeks time a lot of familiar faces will leave .A lot of special people I've had the good fortune to know will no longer be part of my campus life. .. Then... it's really going to be empty... this place...

I don't know all my seniors here, but all those I've become close friends with... I have no words to express how much I'll miss them.... I'm still in a bit of shock here!:shock: .. that time has flown by so quick!

Right now, I have a lot say... but I can't express... but I would like to take this opportunity to wish them all the best in all their future endeavors. But most of all I want to say: I'll miss you all very much...

Wishing everyone at IMT-D all the very best for their exams... :cheerio:

Aspirations, Expectations and More

The journey of my Aspirations and Expectations started in 2008, and as my time @IMT-Dubai comes to an end, i have been thinking of how much of my aspirations and expectations got full filled, If you have been with me since the start of this space, I would like to thank you for that, but you will also agree, i never defined what were my expectations and aspirations, and i am sure, all of us would have got our own versions of mine expectations and aspirations, for some of my readers it would have been, well Ankur wants to have a good job at the end of MBA, and while on the other hand some would think- he wants to enjoy his Life @Dubai and the International MBA.:biggrin:

Well, coming to an end of my MBA journey, i would do what i should have done at the onset of this blog and that is define what were my expectations and aspirations and how well were they achieved or mis-achieved., from now on, i would try to come up with my version of two years of my MBA@ IMT, i would recount the most memorable experiences i had, the people who made a difference to me, the situations, events that helped me complete my aspirations and expectations.

Hope you all would like a read.

Now boys and girls, before you get all excited and let your imagination flow,the next few lines are only my tribute to the girls who i met during my two years of MBA and who have played a very important role in my learning @IMT campus, some have taught me to be patient, some have taught me to be in control, some have taught me to be ambitious and well,some have taught me to go all out-have fun, while some lets just say-have taught me to smarten up.

My Learnings from Girls @IMT-Dubai

1. Not all Girls are Wicked.
2. Most of the Girls are Wicked.
3. Not all Girls want to have Fun.
4. Most of the Girls want to have fun.
5. Not all Marketing Girls have a sense of humour.
6. Most of the Marketing Girls have a great sense of humour.

If a Girl sets her eyes on something more often than not, she is sure to have it.:)

Girls,You all have taught me a lot, I would always remember you all, whether i we interacted more or less but you all have helped me understand some of the intricacies of life. I owed you all this.

My Learning From 20 Years of Education

I have been quite inquisitive about the use of the Eductaion that i have had over the period of 20 years of my existence and finally,coming to the end of my Post Graduation, i think i have got hold of some answer, "Education is all about exploring yourself and learning from your failures", Many of us as kids have been bred on the thought that, leave it you wont be able to do this, how is that possible for you, you need to be best at what you do, remember the dialog from the movie Lakshya,where Hrithik says, i want to be best at what ever i do in my life, but he misses out on the part that in order to be successful, you might even have to fail a couple of times first, and you need to have the guts to stand up again, when you think you are down and out. The education that teaches us that-is to me the Real Education.

Over my 14 Years of School education, i have two incidences edged in my mind, one is of the fourth grade, where in i was rejected from a play, just because, i could not enact couple of lines, exactly the way, the teacher wanted them to be, and secondly of ninth grade, where in my teacher and peers scoffed at me for not being able to perform well at an NCC Camp, in both of the cases what was forgotten was that, i had taken the initiative to be on the other side of the ring, and what was remembered was failure, which also unfortunately stuck with me for quite some time after that.

The Essence of my education journey is that, people should be given chances to fail and get back on their feet, they should be given chances to explore themselves and not only be one of the thousands, as Anatole France said it apltly- "Nine tenths of education is encouragement."

So, encourage and encourage people around you to keep trying, trust me i have learnt it over a period of a long time, what those words, never giving up means, they mean, no matter what happens, one should have faith, keep learning from your mistakes and keep moving forward.

Keep Exploring yourself and do what your heart tells you to do!

I love my brown pull over jacket..its just so comfortable..i have been wearing it for ages now..no, i wont change it..its so become a part of me..

have you ever given these many justifications for your choice of clothing..or shall we say fashion statement.., well if you have then welcome to my club..:)

I have this brown pull over jacket with me..that i have been wearing for last 4months @ IMT-Dubai campus now..yea, u heard me right for four straight months..if you are shocked, let me tell you, you are not the first one and if you are not, than you are one of me..thanks.

I have this thing with me, once i fall in love with a tee, jacket, and so on..i keep on wearing it for a season at least, last winter it was a blue denim jacket and this winter its my allen solly brownie..which i can't get enough of..

So,why do i keep on repeating my brown jacket, no more points, simple one line answer..

Its comfortable, Its Hip,Its Withing my Reach, and I love it..!

Okay, I agree, I have not been doing justice to this thread and sharing all of what i have been going though over the last couple of months now, but I am sure,my B-school brotherns would be able guess quite accurately, whats its to be like coming to your end of MBA and searching for that all elusive and inclusive job.:D

Well, so have been going through the motions up till now for myself, where in, i have been trying to sit in every damn interview coming for me. you know,th things you do when you are started off your career and are ready to compromise any thing to everything.

So,here i was today sitting in the office of one of the biggest retailer in UAE, and thinking for once, what the hell, I am doing here..but then thankfully regaining my composure to ascertain that, i had come there for an job interview.

Job Interview Environment

Now, you know folks, sometimes you just walk into an office and feel like working over there some day, you know things like- big brand, shiny office, good receptionist and a good looking HR Chic..you know what i mean..

Well, the interview i went today had all these qualities but yet it didn't attract me,it felt like "Been there, Done That!", the Golden Cage was calling and i was there at the Gate..Me and My Career Strategy..

There were talks among the office staff, for a persons visa to Swiz coming next week, then there was another who was stuck in berlin due to Lufthansa strike, and i was like..ohh this what they meant, when the job description said and i quote "The Job involves Travelling..!";) and i was already on my way to a US Green card.

15 mins later walked into the interview room with 3 board members ready to take my interview.Lets call them Mr.$, & and * for easy reference.I wont get into detail of the interview cause it was quite generic as is the case with most of the interviews in Gulf. Interview went on for 7 mins, i don't know what they learnt about me but one thing i realized about myself, that i would form now on do only, what i love doing.

Here are few of my learnings from today;

1. Concentrate on Long Term and not Short Term.
2. Think Big.
3. Do what you love doing but before you do that, first find out what you love doing.;)
4. Before helping others, help yourself first.:clap:

Life Moving along @IMT-D!

Last couple of months left of what has been an amazing journey..!

As in a cricket test match- the excitement and uncertainty of the climax has reached me, over here at IMT-Dubai!

How have things changes for Me over the Last Sem here at IMT-D!

1. Assignments and Projects have become part of life,so much so that, i don't have to think where do i get my next idea from, part of life.

2.Mid-Sem exams don't worry me that much, on the contary I enjoy giving last of my exams in MBA.

3. Suprise Quizes are no more a surprise- its like yeah Sir- "been there, Done That!"

4. I like been overloaded with work, and find it strange if I am not.

5.Working in a Team and Understanding the team dynamics, which member will work and who will not, is now easy to make out, which make things so much easier.

The Mayonnaise Jar
( Loved it so Sharing it with you all over here.!:))

When things in your life seem, almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class
and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
And proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open Areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous yes.

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

Now, said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things - family,
children, health, Friends, and Favorite passions
Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.

The sand is everything else The small stuff.

If you put the sand into the jar first, He continued,
there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are important to you.

So

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

Take care of the golf balls first
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled.
Im glad you asked.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
theres always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.

Wooff..i never thought, i have to think so much in life..

The Intervals between when i come back to this place..and write my experiences are getting longer, if one was to keep a track of the intervals he/she would be easily making it out that time lag is increasing and that has only one reason, loads of other things keeping my mind occupied.

4th semester started on 18th Jan'10, campus is back to buzz, 17 new Juniors joined us in the Jan batch, 3 french exchange students have also joined us..i extend a warm welcome to all on campus.

My elective subjects are Marketing of services,B2B Sales and Distribution. the last of my academic session started. Dubai has a awesome weather these days..15 of us went to beach yesterday and it was simply amazing, with this being the last winter in IMT, junta doesn't want to miss out on small small moments which we call Life@IMT.

Last sem of Life @IMT-D will begin from 10th Jan,2010.

You Know you are in the middle of exams in IMT-D when!

1. You hear lines in the hostel corridors like, Kitna hogaya?( How much course completed?) and the innocent boy answers-Just started dude..!!Cheerzz to modesty!;)

2. You see Junta running helter skelter in the middle of the night, with the news that, supposedly their is a last minute model assignment submitted online by the professor.( Expectations are high that questions will be from this set of assignment.:wow:) Haill the Internet!

3. You got huge horde of students assembled at the coffee vending machine,supposedly for coffee but in directly for chit-chat just to get away from the grind of studies. :heaven:

4. Blokes sporting long beards supposedly for the lack of personal hygiene time in examinations.:D

5. and this is my favourite, in the middle of the examination hall- right when the exam is about to start- your neighbour gently calls you- shee..shee Ankur..Bhai..bhai..- bata diyo..!!:clap: and I go bhai, abhi puch lo jo puchna hai cause after i get the paper, you will need to do the talking.

1. Bus No. 365( Takes us to Dubai Metro Station..and speed is cruise control sweet 40 Km/hr..Trust me you don't want to be on this bus,if you are running late for your schedule.)

2. Royal Kebab Food( Comes a little Costlies but will do for once in couple of days for me,and yeah this guy is very good at marketing himself,PM me for the details,other wise i would be guilty of advertising!)

3. Walks around the Campus with my I-touch,with the view of the famed Dubai Skyline and the empty vastness of Dubai Desert!(Price Less!)

4. Placcom Room (A Short hand for the placement committee room,where i can be find for most part of the day.)

All of UAE is in Id and National Day Celebration Mode!!

We have all got about 10 days of Mid Sem Break..Many of the junta is back in India with their families,I am in Campus for the last of what will be the silence before the storm of End semester project submissions and Exams.

The campus just got over with Vaudeville'09,an event that raised the level of events in Dubai Academic City,we had more than 9 Universities participating,the day long fiesta of Academic Events and the Evening of Cultural events,truly IMT-Dubai Rocked with voices of excitement and happiness!A day to remember for all!;):clap:

And,rightly so,i can see the last mile coming for me as well @IMT, well you may say that,there is time Ankur for you beginning to write your fare well messages @this thread....but i justify that,its not my farewell message,its just that when you are struck in the busy schedule of your day to day life,there comes a moment in your routine..like for me its mostly early in the morning,when i get up from my bed and am thinking what all needs to be done today,what all could have been done better and so on..there comes a realization that another day has just gone by and the next one is about to go and i have got so much to do,and it sometimes frightens me,how would i be able to cope up with all the expectations of people around me..will i be able to get what i want..(you know random thoughts which i am sure is not specific to an MBA student:P),and thats when i know its the last mile that counts,so here is to my last mile.God Bless.:)

Last one week has been one experience was managing a team for our annual marketing conference happening at our campus;Marketing on Fire consumer behaviour in the middle east,had couple of very good speakers coming in to share there insights apart from the student presentations happening, Didn't know how the week went by,learnt a lot both professionally and intellectually.

Have experienced one thing for sure there is no degree like MBA and there is no place like IMT-Dubai!

Next week seems all busy again,with loads of happening but its time i took a new path and tread it down,as my favourite saying from robert frost goes:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair

My experiences at IMT are quite similar to my colleagues jeff,neha and lisa.so they really havent left me much to talk about ;)..but as I am brought up in dubai.. my apprehensions of joining imt were slightly different from theirsI had 2 major fears :-
Firstly , having studied my bachelors in biotechnology.I was worried about my shift from genetics,tissue culture,anatomy to accounting ,finance,marketing.. secondly, that I would be surrounded by UNCLES/AUNTS coming for their MBA..after years of work experience
But the minute I stepped into IMT, I was proved totally wrong:grin: I Still clearly remember my first day,23rd august 2009, I entered like a unsure,timid girl entering LKGfor my foundation classes and from that minute life just changed.Its become a big ROLLER COASTER ride.(big here is a understatement :grin:).Made such wonderful friends in just a months time.learnt so much..had so much fun..that it hard to believe that I studied anything at all or that I actually enjoy going to college so much that i dunt mind in traffic every single day or that I m just a month old at IMT (still a baby...:grin:) .
And ofcourse I didnt really meet any UNCLES/AUNTS ;)I am amidst people with so much energy that sometimes I feel like an AUNT. :grin: .By the end of the first week people referred to me as a LOCALITEthe first time I was called that, I was actually offended.I am as much Indian as anyone elsebut as time progressed.my perception and my fellow HOSTELITES perception about the word LOCALITE has changed.it now means LOCALly settled Indian.who can always help her fellow hostelITES ;)
The experience so far has been SO amazing!!! .that I really cant find words to describe it enoughAnd like everyones knows I TALK A LOT.;) and its difficult to keep me silent for very long.so Ill be back very soon

Living all my life very close to the U.A.E. ,I never really thought how actually living here at IMT- Dubai would change me , open my eyes to a million windows of opportunities.
I am Lisa James and its now my third week here at IMT Dubai. I came here with a gazillion stars in my eyes. I can assure you that none of them have dimmed. Most of them now dazzle ten-fold.
Here, at IMT- Dubai I have been exposed to character, precision and professionalism, peers and friendship, seniors and more friendship, respect , boundaries and professors, and last but not the least travel and shopping !!! LOL :)
I hadn't noticed how time passed being here. I've been excited about being part of the IMT family for months. And from the moment I walked past her gates into her grounds, everything about IMT-Dubai was welcoming and warm. I couldn't help but be excited. Never once did I feel alone.
And all of a sudden in a second, I realised that I had found a home away from home. :
I ask every new face I see here why they chose to study here. I get a lot of answers and some.
But I know why I chose IMT Dubai :It was not only for a strong career, or for opportunity, or for possibility, development, growth, responsibility , freedom , life lessons, or to experiment, to make my own mistakes, to learn from them, or make memories and gain experiences but for ME!! All for myself !!
I can with all my heart say that there is not even a second I spend here that I regret. Three cheers for everything and everyone at IMT for making my first three weeks here an experience I will never ever forget.

Well,its been a little over a month since I first stepped into the IMT campus ..And in one word,its been CRAZY! .. To elaborate on this word further,I can only think of all the radical stuff that kept coming our way (and they just dont stop :P) ; from the secretive escapade to Jumeirah Beach (thanks to Aslam bhai) after the medical check-ups ,to the emulation of some very unique professors,my batchmates and I-weve had so much fun already!Its almost inexplicable!Speaking of professors,I think we all agree that the non-indian professors have impinged us the most.Having said that,the Indian professors have impressed us just as well.Im not trying to be politically correct so dont get me wrong ( )!But learning,which per se,is a never-ending task,has come to be paramount to most of us.We would not be here at IMT if we didnt believe in it.So learning-no matter how cheesy it may sound as of now,remains a crucial factor that we bank on almost everyday!And having met people from far flung areas in India,learning at IMT is just as fun as going out with friends!The campus is just swell.Although it may not have a gigantic stance as compared to the other institutes in Academic City,the very fact that it stands alone-makes us want to admire it more! .. And Im not trying to sugar coat it but,I think much of the fun stems from the way the campus is constructed.It has a vibe of its own and that adds to the excitement.The mess, or the adda that we like to call it,is also an awesome place to meet,interact,curse and all in all,be ourselves with the ones weve come to treat as family! .. I can only remember the most bizarre of conversations that have taken place at the mess.Lol.But no,if u think Ill spill the beans here,youre sadly mistaken( ).Some things are better left unsaid.So yeah,its only been a month now.We still have 2 full years to go before I can share more of such experiences with you.Now,if u may,I have assignments to cater to

It has been a month. It's been a month since I stepped foot into this new place. Its almost like a parallel universe. Unreal, since I find it bizarre for some place to bring me so much happiness. I think I'm getting ahead of myself...let's just start the beginning and get back to basics.

My first day at IMT Dubai was 23rd of August, 2009. I stepped into my class to be hit by blueness all over. Colour of the chairs. Being a day scholar, I have the bane of arriving much before class starts, so there I was sitting in the safe 2nd row, anxiously waiting for the rest of the students to file in, when the door opened and around 20 of them walked in together. Hostelers. The flicker of doubt or apphrension left me the moment I saw smiles on their faces. They exuberated warmth and radiated with enthusiasm. I walked up, put out my hand, and smiled, "Hi! I'm Neha!". I still walk up to people and do that. I've gotten some pretty weird looks. Oh well, at least my smile has still stayed...

For the first 2 weeks, we attended the Foundation Course. More than getting a foundation for the courses, we formed concrete-foundations of friendships. It's been a month, and I stress that because, to me, it really doesn't feel like it. The bonds of friendships that I've formed are too deep to be just a month old. Is it really possible or is this just a mirage I'm living? Only time will tell...

There are people from various fields, with very different perspectives to bring to the classroom. The ones I hang out with are crackports and LOADS of fun! We sing (ummm...sur? wha? :p), we dance (randomly to any song), we talk (mostly bullshit), we laugh (even when we're not supposed to) and we eat all together. Overall, it's these people who give out such positive vibes, that makes me wake up every morning (at 6.30...ouch!), with a smile on my face and an eagerness to get to college.

Regular classes have started now, we've all been divided into 3 different groups, but the excitement and enthusiasm haven't diminished! I can go on and on about the things we do....but every event needs a post for itself! So, look forward (or not) to hearing more from me!!

IMT is Rocking so far!

Winters are beginning to show their effects now..their is this beautiful breeze in the morning that flows past our campus,the beautiful sunrise and the myriad colours of the morning sky..waiting for me to cast thousand impressions on it..people relate hot summers with dubai but it also has one of the best seasons from nov-feb..when it rocks!!

Me and my team presented the Mcdonald's vs Mccurry's case yesterday,it was great learning and interactive platform for not only we,who were presenting the case but also for the audience,we shared many eg's of trademark infringements and how can organiztions deal with the situation they sometimes find themselves in,we also talked about the Indian connection to the case and how in India its pretty easy to get away with just about anything.

IMT News!

1. Juniors,are begining to find their place around the campus,with they being able to relate to the seniors and participating in events @campus,we had a guest lecture too yesterday by Mr.Thothathri Raman,advisor and knowledge consultant to Education Promotion Society of India(EPSI).
